Thanks grandmabatty, I’ve just sat down for a wee rest, I’ve been busy mopping the floors and hoovering. Everything is looking much cleaner and a bit tidier now, ready for the workmen to start again on Monday 🤦‍♀️. I’ve also been wrapping presents, almost all done now except the ones delivered straight to Cambridge. I’m planning a quick trip down there again next week to play Santa 🧑‍🎄
We’re going to have an early dinner tonight and then settling down to watch Strictly

Haven't posted for a while ,there's been a lot going on in the kitchen Sue following a few days away we came back to a flooded kitchen that was bad enough in glad to read you will soon back home.Dusty sending healing thoughts to your oh.To all feeling under the weather hope you start feeling better soon.Yia love the colour of your seating. I had cortisone injection into left hip area hopefully to ease pain of bursitis not much joy yet but only had it Monday so early days .Sorry someone has upset you Ann 💐. Have a good evening all.

Good evening dear Kitcheners, I’m happy to report that I’m feeling better today after a good night’s sleep. It has been a beautiful sunny day though rather chilly so I went for a short walk and waved to the children on the Santa train. I thought you might all appreciate a photo of the train, with the engineer waving to me

The grandchildren were dropped home at 1:30, since when I’ve done diddly squat apart from wade through the paper, very lazy.
MrJ is cooking chicken sausages later, so I can carry on in the assumed position! We’ll call in the pub first, missed everyone last night as we supervised the youngsters.
I hope the damp is receding SueD and you’re comfortable enough in the Travelodge.

Many get well messages to mr soop, one thing after another isn’t fun

Would someone please reassure me that I can’t possibly have a cold so soon after covid, only felt better a couple of days ago and am still coughing. I’ve dosed, am warm and comfy with a (far too) large glass of chilled white and hope tomorrow will feel a whole lot better

It’s not been a bad day today, we headed along the coast for a walk on a quiet, almost deserted, sea front. Nothing like some fresh air. It’s been feet up with phone calls this afternoon. Nothing taxing.

We enjoy everything about steam trains blossoming. Your photo has encouraged some planning for next year.

Apologies to those I’ve missed. I have read all your doings, my head doesn’t retain it all sadly.

Don’t go, ann, this kitchen is kind and values its senior members. There are some very unkind and opinionated posters and they ought not to win.

Parcels nearly all done - a couple of presents still haven’t arrived but we have a few more days yet so hope not abandoned entirely. Other than a quick trip to the village this morning I have hunkered down indoors but need a Tesco run tomorrow to get ahead of myself for next weekend. Just hope the weather plays ball for everyone travelling or things could get complicated.

Peli and Cornergran we live just across the bridge from a railway museum and the engines are mainly former industrial engines. Today’s Santa train was being pulled by ‘Courageous’, built by Bagnall and used at a gas and coke works. I love being able to watch them and I always wave

Ann, I hope that you feel able to post on the kitchen thread soon. I know how off-putting it is when the more impulsive/ controlling faction jump on you on other threads. But they’re not worth losing this lovely thread for.

The house improved so much overnight with the dehumidifiers! I’m trying to persuade Dh we could move back in tomorrow. I’m done with this itinerant life. We moved things about today, back into their usual places albeit without carpets. Also got rid of bits of cardboard used as door mats and things like that. Tomorrow I want to put the sittingroom furniture back into place and maybe get some Xmas decs put up. It’s a week ago tonight we discovered the calamity - it feels like a month or a year.

I’ve jiggered my back in all the machinations, unfortunately. It’s fine as long as I don’t move the merest muscle. 👀 Ibuprofen is my current best friend.

AnnS...I hope you are able to read our messages if not actually posting at the moment. I can understand personally what it feels like to be attacked on GN and made the same decision as you until I found this wonderful kitchen where I felt welcomed and valued as you are too. Don't let some mean spirited people feel that they have gained a victory by leaving GN. Come and sit with us here... There is nothing but kindness and genuine care for all in Soops kitchen.

Neine, you are so right! I nearly left GN because of an unpleasant poster who has since departed. Then I crawled into Soop’s kitchen and Soop offered me a comfy chair and a hug. That was a few years ago now and I’m so glad I got here.

SueD I know you want to move back to your own house asap but please remember, even with a dehumidifier how damp it can become overnight. The end is in sight and another night or two in warm dry surroundings would not hurt.

The sun is out here but it is bitterly cold outside. I feel sorry for the builder building a patio next door.

Peli just think how organised you will be for next Christmas if you skip this one?!

I have made good use of my £10 Christmas bonus, not forgetting the extra 25p each week added to my state pension- I managed to have a cosy house for almost 3 hours. I have been trying a variety of heaters to see which is the most effective and hopefully the cheapest to run.

Good afternoon kitchen pals, just closed the curtains and cosying up near the fire for a while
I’ve had a lovely day, we should have gone to DD2s for a birthday tea for DGD but they decided to come here for lunch instead as Sil is feeling a bit ropey. So I quickly scrambled together soup and sandwiches for everyone and luckily they brought the birthday cake with them. So a lovely afternoon indeed. They’ve just left but DGS has stayed here for his Sunday night sleepover. He’s playing on his switch just nów whilst I recover with a cup of tea. I think we’ll be in for another evening of board games later 🤦‍♀️

Hi all, we’ve had a lovely day too brook I’m glad you have.
Visited my son and family to exchange presents and have a catch up, we’ll try and visit again before the day, but they’re both working flat out.
Then we went to our local for the Christmas draw, we won three prizes, a DAB radio, Monopoly Vault and a hot water bottle!
Now watching football until I get dinner ready.

‘Evening All’.

I’ve been out to our book club Christmas lunch. There were 12 of us. It was lovely. Our club has been going strong for 18 years now. 5 of us are original members. Some of us swapped places after the main course to facilitate proper catch ups on a loong table!

Another here adding my exhortations (3 Across) to you annsixty not to disappear for too long dear lady. Us Mancunians are thin on the ground hereabouts. I enjoy your presence and contributions very much. “Hasten ye back.”
