Hi

I’ve been divorced a long time and normally get invited to spend NYE with my best friend and her husband which I have done for about the last 15 years.
However this year I have not been invited. I did ask her what she was doing and she did t reply and then mentioned a few weeks later that they might be going away. I know they haven’t gone away and they clearly just didn’t want to ask me.

I know I have no right to expect to be invited to their house but I am really hurt. I am also not used to spending NYE on my own and feel very lonely and sorry for myself. I know it’s just another night.

Anyway for anyone else spending it on your own like me have a nice night and here’s to a fresh start in 2024.

Can’t beat this!

I took the same turning, as homes with cats should have been included.

Spent this New Year's Eve comforting two scared cats alone. Next New Year's Eve I shall invite friends.

Optimistic - why don't you invite friends over for New Year's Eve?

i spent christmas and hogmanay on my own, i did my usual traditions of opening the door and the windows, making sure i had food on the table then spent a few hours online (youtube) watching things and listening to music, i am still humming some of the drifters songs today. maybe next year you could think about having some friends to yours or even going away for a few days. there will have been thousands of people on there own last night, just take some time to look around and tell yourself you are brilliant and so what if you have a new year on your own, you have a whole year to plan for 2025. happy new year and all the best for 2024.

There may have been no lying, maybe they were thinking of going away but plans were changed. I suppose her husband may have remarked that he would like the evening to themselves and she went along with his wishes.
I definitely wouldn’t break the friendship up a lot of changes happen over 15 years
