Does Anyone Remember Paper Cut Out Dolls?

I loved them. Bunty used to have a page with a a cut out doll and clothes. Remember playing with a friend just trying on the different clothes on the paper dolls and making up stories of where the dolls were going. I doubt today's generation would be interested.

I loved them too. You could buy books of the dolls with beautiful clothes and accessories. I think my 6 year old granddaughter would love them. She loves making up stories and dressing up. Thanks for the memories.

I have a cardboard one in the attic with some paper clothes for it. I showed my dear gd when she was younger but she was not interested

My mum used to have Women’s Weekly which had a new outfit for the dolls, Norah and Tilly every week, and every so often it would have a new copy of the dolls so you could replace them if they wore out.

I remember them well and loved to play with my cut out dolls.

I loved them. I used to cut them out of the Bunty and Judy and I was amused for hours. When one of my granddaughters was young I bought a book of cut outs and she wasn’t really interested. We grew up in a different age.

Loved them, but mys sister was very careless and would often swap them for her creased ones. My daughter was doll phobic and would not have anything to do with them. Granddaughter prefers animals, so no joy there either

My granddaughter (who's now 27) was completely obsessed with these dolls when she was little! They were difficult to find, so if I saw them in a book/paper shop I used to stock up with them. They'd keep her amused for hours. On the other hand, I was never interested in them as a child.

I think the modern version is the sticker type books. Usborne do several ‘sticker dolly dressing’ books. I used to have the Judy every week and my friend the Bunty, we swapped when finished with them. She did the cut out clothes but I was never interested.

Looked forward to the Bunty for the cut out dolls.

Yes I loved them . And I loved the fuzzy felt pictures you could move around. Happy days !

I have on from when the Obamas moved into the White House and some vintage ones Of Greer Garson and Marilyn Monroe.

I have always loved French Fashion and used to enjoy paper cut out dolls when I was very very young and I made fashions from old magazines for them ..

I loved playing with them …. I even used to save the fancy foil from Easter eggs and create more dresses.

I used to cut ladies in underwear out of Empire Stores catalogues then choose dresses, skirts trousers and tops for them. These were cut out too and tabs left to put them on the models. I had hours of fun doing this but my dad hated the mess.

I remember in that era there were catalogues you could send for so you could order goods and pay weekly for them. In a newspaper I saw them advertised when I was about 11 years old in the 1950's I filled in all the forms and posted them off, you just cut around the dotted lines and folded it into an envelope.

My mum could not understand why she kept receiving lots of catalogues but there I was, in my bedroom, cutting out all the lovely ladies in their posh frocks and underwear, sticking them to cardboard and using them as dressing up dolls.

She told me that catalogues were for people to order goods from and never to do it again.

I would cut dresses out of whole page adverts in magazines, maybe of fruit of something, not forgetting the tabs though.
As already mentioned I don't think children today are interested, my grand daughter did not know what I was talking about. I did buy her French Knitting for Christmas which she had never seen before. I had a soldier when I was a child, but had to get her a mushroom!

I loved mine too, and kept them in old chocolate boxes ,as well.

My mother bought us them when we were ill in bed, and in the 1950s, when children were only vaccinated against whooping-cough, diptheria, smallpox and polio, that was quite often.

My favourite childhood plaything. I got Bunty every week, and cut out the doll and clothes on the back page. And I was often bought the books of cut out dolls that were sold in the newsagent shop. They filled a drawer in my bedroom, but kept me happy for hours.

Oh how I loved Christmas /birthday for a special card doll and the cut out clothes with the tab's book. Can remember the one that had glitter on the clothes one year …. Such simple presents but so much pleasure.
Can remember making my own ‘cut out paper clothes’ as well from wall paper / sweet papers !

Wow...that's a blast from the past, I was born in 1970 n I can remember playing and dressing with the paper dolls, unfortunately technology has taken away a lot of simple pleasures

Chestnut, I like the Belle and Boo cut out doll. That reminds me of the ones from my childhood.
