There are no words I can say to comfort you but can send you a gentle hug.
don't have a problem with under 16's having free bus travel,BUT
What is your favourite healthy vegetarian meal?
And I just don't know how to cope. She struggled with her mental health for so many years, from her early teens, and I tried to support her in every possible way I could, but it wasn't enough. She took her own life a year ago. Her health problems devastated our family but her death has completely destroyed us all. We all loved her so very much. Now I just don't know who I am or what to do. I know I need to still be Mum to my other children. I know I need to get on with my life in the real world get out there, relate to other people etc but I just can't imagine ever being normal again. I'm just posting here to be a bit anonymous and ask if anyone could give me some motivation or advice?
There are no words I can say to comfort you but can send you a gentle hug.
Tigerpaws57 I can't begin to imagine the pain of losing your child, whether by illness or their own hand. I know the pain of losing loved ones but your own child is the natural order turned upside down, nobody expects to outlive their children.
A year really is such a brief span in terms of grief and loss. Let your other children motivate you and give you a reason to carry on, but please give yourself all the space and time you need to begin to heal . Your grief and sadness will never go, but I do hope in time the rawness will lessen. You'll never get back to the old 'normal' but in time the new 'normal' can be a place where there's happiness and peace. Sending love and hope xx
So sorry for your loss tigerpaws. We’ve all experienced loss and it is soul crushing and you wonder how you can even go on the pain is so severe. My mom died at 80 from cancer and it was a blessing when she passed due to her suffering. She had a long healthy life til then. My nephew died at 6 from cancer and my brother (nephews dad)passed a few years later. Time does not heal all wounds. They are forever burned into our aching hearts. Life is hard. I can’t imagine what you are going through and I hope everyone’s words bring you some measure of comfort that you are not alone in your pain.
I’m really sorry to hear about your daughter. People on Gransnet are really kind and you will get support
as others say, a year is no time at all to process this xx
Tigerpaws57 I so feel for you in your loss. Nothing really helps but try to share your grief with others and don’t feel bad about crying whenever you want to. Mental health is so difficult, it doesn’t fit with what we are used to and there are no easy answers. I know the mental health services are not always able to assist, I have experience with one of my children. 😢
To lose a child is the greatest pain imaginable. There’s no pain to compare with it. It’s still early days Tigerpaws57. Let yourself grieve but don’t feel guilty about the good moments in your life. Cry yes, but laugh too.
Tigerpaws57 I am so sorry for your devastating loss. Wrapping my arms around you xx
I am so sorry for your terrible loss, sending you a virtual hug
So sorry to hear what you are going through. The worst thing about loss from suicide is the lingering feeling that there might have been something you could have done to prevent it. And the challenge of trying to understand mental illness ... it is so hard to get inside someone's head and imagine how they feel. The truth is that someone whose illness means that the normal istinct to survive has gone is very hard to help. I am sure that you did all you could to support her. Sometimes there really us nothing you can do.
I hope so much that you can make progress towards building a new life ... a life with a scar at its core, but a new life nevertheless.
I have been told that SOBS is a good source of support ... might it be worth reaching out to them? It could be worth a try at least.
I am sending a handhold.
Dear tigerpaws I am so sorry. To loose your child is the worst thing that can happen to you in life. As so many have said, a year is no time at all when it comes to grief, and you never 'get over it' - you just learn to live with it and around it. Accept the love that surrounds you and any help that is out there. Your daughter will always be with you, will always be your daughter and is a precious part of you. In time this agony will gradually become bearable.
Tigerpaws Losing a child will always be with you, to lose one in such a tragic way is so difficult. I saw how my parents suffered after my sister died, not suicide, but in a road accident.
The pain will never go away, but you will get used to it. Not much consolation, but the best there is. Turn to your family, ask them to support you, as you have supported them over the years. i want to reach out and hug you.
Tigerpaws you are working through your grief by talking about how you feel on here. Well done.
Every parent on Gransnet is represented by the words above. Our condolences and hugs.
Very sorry Tigerpaws. I hope you find peace of mind.
There are simply no words to bring you comfort. As a mother I can only imagine your pain, I am so sorry.
I’m so sorry tigerpaws. A devastating loss. As other have said SOBS can be an excellent source of support. Please care for yourself
. Please do remember there. is always someone here to listen
So very sorry. You might find the work of Julia Samuels of some comfort. Also there is a support group aligned to her called Griefworks.
I don't have any words of wisdom for you but wanted to say how sorry I an and send you gentle hug 🤗
I completely agree with Luckygirl.. sadly MH illness does mean that people are often in deep distress and can lose touch with reality and hope, despite the care and love they receive from others.. I think you perhaps take comfort from the knowledge that you supported and loved her as much as you were able, and now maybe try to find a support group where you can share your feelings of loss and pain..
am
I am so sorry Tigerpaws. I’ve lost a son in tragic circumstances. Life will never be the same. These things can make us or break us. I suspect you are a better person with kindness and love for others but right now you need some kindness and love from us to help you. You have it in buckets. xxx
Tigerpaws I also lost my daughter to suicide,we have just had the 20th anniversary.
There is always so much guilt, should, could you have done more.
My daughter took her own life after a violent attack by her partner who had abused her throughout their relationship.
It is early days for you, suicide leaves so many questions and no answers.
You will learn to live again, but in a different way,the hole in your life will still be there, you will learn to move round it.
I am sending you love and hopefully the strength to move forward one day at a time,I still do this, but more than anything I would love to give you the peace of mind you need to move forward
Look after yourself Tigerpaws, your daughter is at peace. Only the ones who have suffered the same can know what it is like. I lost a good friend to the same but I can't imagine what it must be like to be one of your children.
The death of a child are amongst the saddest of threads. I'm so, so sorry for your loss, it truly is the wrong order to lose a child for whatever reason. My husband's son died very suddenly over ten years ago, I have often thought "how do you bear it" He tells me that eventually he came to terms with it, the sense of loss and sadness is always there and of course anniversaries such as birthdays cut like a knife, but talking about it often proved cathartic.
I wish you peace and understanding, there are posters here who will know exactly what you are going through from their own bereavements.
Tigerpaws, I’m so sorry to hear you’ve lost your daughter. Have you come across this support group for people in your position. My sister and her husband had real ongoing support from this or a similar group after contacting them several years ago, and friendships which are still going strong to this day. slowgroup.co.uk
I wish you all the best for the future.
Tigerpaws I don't think anyone can cope with such a terrible loss but downtoearth has shared her experience of how you can eventually live with it. Take good care of yourself while you are finding a way forward. 💐
