Some of you are really quite nasty to the poor woman (another Meghan) someone to rip into and hate Give her a chance she’s, I think, a kind woman with a soft side just because she’s bright, fun and noisy doesn’t make her a bad person she just has a big personality
If she makes a mess of it have a go but give the poor lass a chance

I saw Alison Hammond on This Morning yesterday (keeping out if the way of DS & DiL’s house keeper). She said that she was extremely honoured to be doing Love of Dogs and had received lovely messages from friends of Paul O’Grady wishing her success.

For all the judgmental folks, she has been looking to get her own dog for ages, even more so since looking after her friends.

She comes over as kind, friendly, she is not up herself and definitely doesn’t take herself seriously. People we know who know her say she is adorable and often comments on how fortunate she has been with work over the last few years.

Once again a thread on GN has made me feel extremely uncomfortable by comments made about people who are unknown to them.

Whether you like her or not is really immaterial, she is not a good fit for Love of Dogs. The show is about the plight of abandoned animals not a showcase for the presenter.

I didn’t mention hate Anniebach that’s not my way.

I totally understand people not liking the public persona of some presenters or actors, but calling Alison Hammond names
big gob, shouty, gob sh** (just a few that I can recall without rereading the entire thread) is reminiscent of playground bullying and like I said previously it makes me feel uncomfortable.

I like Alison Hammond, not Nikki Chapman, she is so manicured she'd freak out if a dog jumped up at her. Not Camilla, she has too much baggage, isn't particularly warm and gets enough taxpayers money as it is. Martin Clunes would be fab, Paul is a loss though, great guy

Whoever was chosen could never take the place of Paul he was a natural dog lover with a genuine love of animals I don't envy Alison I would love to have seen Nigel Havers or Monty Don

AH is a TV/Radio presenter and would not be doing that kind of job she does if she were the shy retiring type, she obviously wants to be in the spotlight. I do not agree with calling her names, that is totally unnecessary but equally would not refer to her as "that poor women" Are we not allowed as viewers to prefer one presenter over another? I have never watched "For the Love of Dogs" but have seen her in other programmes over the years and find her rather loud, over the top persona is not for me.

I like Alison too. I think you will see a warm, cuddly and empathetic side of her. Give her a chance. I also think she has made Great Bakeoff more watchable, bringing an element of fun. Prefer her to Matt or Noel. Don't get Noel.

I have to confess I don’t actually know who she is. I would like to see Martin Clunes hosting it; he loves dogs, is a bit of a national treasure and has a tremendous amount of warmth about him.

The only thing I can find in favour of A. Hammond is that she will be marginally better than A.Holden who was also mooted for the programme.

Paul O’Grady is a very hard act to follow.I do question why any presenter must be someone who fronts lots of programmes already.It would be better to find someone basically unknown perhaps who has a genuine love of dogs.Is it just me or is anybody else sick and tired of the cult of celebrity.

How do all of you critics know whether she’s a dog lover /saver or not, perhaps she had a quieter side who knows such a judgemental lot of posts.
If she comes across as awful in the programme then criticise her but give people a chance

I wouldn’t say I am drawn to loud people GSM being quite a shy person in social situations but I don’t think I’d be bored with Alison H or Rusty Lee another larger than life person They are fun and both seem kind hearted people

Maybe they should audition lesser known personalities ? Someone who isn't on tv a lot but can make this programme their "own" .

But that isn't what's needed Crazymum it's about the animals not the presenter.

Alison Hammond is a lovely woman, I think she will make a great job of the program just as she has with Bake Off. She may be loud and large but she can be quiet when necessary. Let's just give her chance.
