New presenter for The Love of Dogs!

I am shocked and dismayed that the lovely, kind, gentle, quiet and caring Paul O’Grady is being replaced with

..
Alison big gob shouty Hammond!

She will scare every nervous dog in range of her loud voice and exaggerated arm movements. She is a physically large woman who will overwhelm most dogs.

Why couldn’t the Tv company find someone more suitable, perhaps someone younger and gentler and not so well known. Give someone else a chance. AH is absolutely everywhere at the moment and she’s already ruined bake off for me. Not a fan at all (don’t know why you’d think that đŸ€Ł).

Who do you think would be good?

I’m sure she is taking over the world!! I’m sure she’s a lovely lady but she is on EVERYTHING!!! I find myself more selective with my programmes now as sadly I can find her quite irritating. Are the TV stations so short of presenters? Can we have an Alison break please?

You can never replace Paul O'Grady. He was a one off. A remarkable man who brought much more than just a love of dogs to the programme.
I can't remember the name of the lovely lady who used to joke on with him, but she would be a better bet than all those celebrities.
If Alison Hammond is in charge I won't be watching. Battersea will lose out so badly if people turn away from For the Love of Dogs.

I quite like Sandy someone or other.
It begins with a T and she just seems like a dog lover.

I think we should give her a chance.

It would be wrong for Battersea to lose out on funding and finding homes for the animals just because we don't think the presenter is suitable before she even starts.

I don't think Paul would be happy about that.
Who'd have thought very funny but loud Lily Savage could have such an empathetic side and become such a national treasure?

BlueBelle Sat 03-Feb-24 13:16:36

But no one wants or is trying to replace Paul OGrady If someone dies the only choice is bin the programme altogether or find a substitute

If Alison Hammond is in charge I won't be watching. Battersea will lose out so badly if people turn away from For the Love of Dogs Albertina such a judgemental post obviously not a true dog lover if you take your support away because you don’t like the presenter of a tv programme !!!

Do you know something I think Paul O Grady would really like Alison Hammond he had a wicked sense of humour and I think he d totally approve of her and had they done a programme together I think they would have had a complete hoot
Give her a chance

MissAdventure

Hopefully with enough blue to make a sailor a pair of trousers, though. 🙂

My aunt always used to say this, but when I say that now, no one has ever heard that saying before!! Lovely to see it here.

catwoman Sat 03-Feb-24 13:58:16

Martin Clunes.

catwoman Sat 03-Feb-24 13:59:44

Another one for Martin Clunes!!

Paul was a fulltime care worker so he had always had a caring and empathetic nature ... he was doing his Lily Savage act in the evenings before he went into showbiz fulltime.

Grandma29 Sat 03-Feb-24 14:07:21

Not a good choice but if you look hard at it you’ll get the answer! It doesn’t take long?!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Feb-24 14:08:18

My nan and my mum both used to say it.
It's a shame to think it'll end up washed away from every day parlance.

Urmstongran Sat 03-Feb-24 14:22:26

Yes - Toksvig MissAdventure. She’d be lovely. She has a wry sense of humour which I find appealing.

Bromley Sat 03-Feb-24 14:34:17

She’ll frighten some dogs
but that will be cut.
I can’t listen to her I’m afraid.

Alison Hammond sparks ITV 'boycott' fury as fans divided over new For The Love of Dogs presenting gig.
While Hammond has stated she's "very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series", it appears some fans aren't keen on giving the new-look series a chance. After ITV announced the news on Tuesday afternoon, X, formerly Twitter, users rushed to share their thoughts, including one fan who fumed: "NO! Alison Hammond is not right for this show. You need a true dog lover. Someone with a passion for their welfare.

"Someone that understands rescue work, which can be incredibly difficult. Julian Clary or the wonderful Peter Egan would be perfect. ITV have really f***ed up here." Quote from GB News

Thats the very woman, Urms.
Thank you.

Totally think they’ve gone for the wrong person here.

Greciangirl Sat 03-Feb-24 16:21:43

I was absolutely shocked when I heard that Alison Hammond was going to present the show.

I couldn’t think of anyone least likely to be considered for it,

She does seem to be monopolising t.v. nowadays.

I think that should of been the end of this show, as it won’t be the same with big mouth Hammond in tow.

Jillypops Sat 03-Feb-24 16:22:57

aaaargh none of the above

TurtleDove Sat 03-Feb-24 16:26:14

Oh dear me, that loud woman. I no longer watch any TV show she is in. She went on Clarksons farm the other day to feed the cows and she ran off screaming her head off, there is a video of it somewhere. How on earth is that loud, screaming woman with a terrible laugh going to cope with poor little dogs, she will frighten them to death. It is the worst choice ever, surely there must be some other presenters that love animals that are calm and collected.

Stella14 Sat 03-Feb-24 16:29:14

It won’t affect me. Sadly, my dogs won’t let me watch it. They go ballistic and it’s not worth the noise and stress đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

😂
I had a dog who used to go bonkers watching "One man and his dog"!

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 03-Feb-24 16:38:07

My dog hates all other dogs and most definitely does not like hearing one on television.

OurKid1 Sat 03-Feb-24 16:38:29

Lets give her a chance. I thought she would be annoying on Bake Off, but she's excellent.

tickingbird Sat 03-Feb-24 16:38:36

I’ve nothing against Alison Hammond but I confess to thinking “oh not AH again”. She is in danger of being over exposed as she’s not only presenting, she’s on the adverts too.

Good for her bank balance but it’s nice to have some variety with presenters.

KG1241 Sat 03-Feb-24 16:46:19

Martin Clunes or Alan Davies from Dog Rescue would have got my vote
