Grandmabatty, your DGS1 sounds like a real wee smasher, enjoy sharing his special day with him. Your drawing is beautiful, how lucky you are to have such a talent and be able to develop it. My sister recently invited me to join her at a local drawing class, but I sadly declined. It takes me all my time to draw the curtains. I'm at my most creative making a pot of soup!

Cornergran, DH and I have been known to snooze in stereo, 😴😴, a sofa each!

GrannySomerset, your surgery sounds amazing, so does that mean that you can drive and read without glasses? Do you have to close the other eye or does it adjust? I have cataracts in both eyes but Specsavers optician says it'll be a few years before surgery is required. I didn't realise that lenses could ne fitted at the same time. Pardon my ignorance!

Early days, brook, I hope you feel more comfortable soon. You are such a busy, active lady, it'll take you a wee while to adjust to the ' not doing much ' club. Take care.

I didn't get back to my patio tubs 'cos DSis2 invited me to join her in a wee park walk🚶 🚶, so that was nice. I heard someone calling my name as we walked and realised it was a young man with a wee family. I didn't recognise him at first cos everyone in the park was wearing big coats, woolly hats and sunglasses! He was a former pupil of mine, I taught him and his brothers many years ago. He's a professional footballer now. It was nice to chat.

Good morning all.
Nice to hear you feel better Blossoming, Soop feel better soon , Jaxjacky nasty bruise, and others my feeble brain can’t recall but I have read of your problems,I just lose track very easily.
An update of my situation, it is over 5 weeks now since my two GS’s came to stay.
Slow progress is being made with SS , very slow really but we must be patient.
The younger one went back to stay with their older brother on Wednesday.
The nearly15 year old did not want to go.
He says he is happy and settled here,
He is very Autistic and can’t make sense of the world.
He has had too much change in the last 3 months and can’t cope with anymore.

While I understand fully I am finding it very hard.
My S took time off work but is back this week, I fear he may have to give up work which isn’t what we want but A needs more than I can give him.
He may never be independent and cope on his own.
It is so sad, Education dept are trying to find a unit for him for 12 weeks and then assess further.
It is going to be a long haul.

My little GGD is very sweet and beautiful “of course”
I have seen her weekly since she has been born but only once with her eyes open, apparently they are open all night!!

My GD is very excited as she passed her driving test this week.
She started lessons at 17 but then because of a very difficult time in her life when she left home she shelved it all, but decided a few months ago to start again.
She is now going to be car shopping, more worries ahead for her old Gran.

I am going to have a coffee now and plan the rest of my day.
Nothing strenuous will even be considered.

Cheesy scrambled eggs for lunch, then I'm off to help DSIS2 take her cat to the vet...it's a two person job because he's a house cat and doesn't take kindly to going in the car. 🙀

Tomorrow DH and I are going to see the Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy, after his football ⚽ class!

Today I have succeeded in setting up my new iPhone, which I have put off for a few days as I needed full brain power to deal with it. I have had android phones for work but have never got on with them. I’m more familiar with Apple systems so decided to treat myself, plus John Lewis had an offer with £100 plus 2 years warranty. So I’m chalking this up as a win 😂

Today I defrosted and cleaned the fridge freezer. It's a job I loathe but it's done now. Dd popped in with dgs2 after his haircut and I took the opportunity to get her to choose which jewellery of mine she wanted. I was surprised she wanted as much as she did, but glad too. It's in a bag ready for her. I'm having paella for dinner courtesy of the defrosted freezer then tomorrow will begin the process of restocking it. A quiet night ahead. I wish you all a happy evening

I’m having a quiet evening at home. OH has gone to listen to a lecture about bees.
I will watch Would I Lie To You later. In the meantime I’ve been reading the paper and eating raspberry ruffles. Decades ago (5!) when I worked at John Lewis in Reading I used to pop into British Home Stores and buy quantities of them!
OH and I had lunch out today. I took him to one of the places where I often meet my difficult in restaurants friend. Well, he loved it and had three courses! I had three courses too. Dinner tonight was a bowl of Special K.
Have a good rest of the evening. I hope those of you with difficulties can find a way through them.🌹

The eye is doing ok, quite sore and itchy though with lots of bruising. It doesn’t hurt when it’s closed so needless to say I’ve been having a very restful day 🤣 Think I’ll get my little ear phones out tomorrow and download an audio book if it’s still the same

Although the indigestion continues, I feel less nauseous than I did prior to taking the prescribed jollop four times daily. My appetite, normally hearty, hasn't yet fully recovered. It's a buggeration that I could well do without.

There is such a lot of news for me to catch-up with. I shall do so in the fulness of time.

Of one thing I am assured; you are all kind and supportive and, whenever reassurance is called for, there will be more than enough to share between you.

Good afternoon kitcheners. I have returned from dgs1's birthday party. I may consume wine. It was fine actually. I helped to set up and stayed for over an hour. Danced with wee people and headed off one wee boy who was making for the door - his gran had dumped him and left. Ate my weight in eggy sandwiches. And now relax. I realise I'm a very small part in all of this and felt quite lonely with no-one to chat to unless I made a big effort. It makes me sad at times that I don't have a significant other to share family socials with. Oh well, boeuf bourgiñon from the slow cooker later. It smells delicious already. Good afternoon kitchen pals. So good to hear from you soop and with some slightly better news. I hope your appetite returns fairly soon and you can once again enjoy some delicious meals with Mr soop. I’m also enjoying resting my eyes at the moment. I did download an audiobook and been enjoying it this afternoon. This morning I felt quite energetic and we went out for a walk through the local woods. Nothing too strenuous, but it was good to stretch my legs for a while and get some fresh air.

Grandmabatty your DGSs birthday party sounded good fun, but I really felt for you when I read that you sometimes feel lonely on these family occasions. It must be difficult being on your own and having to make more of an effort than others to chat to people, I’m sure your DD and family really appreciated you being there though and wouldn’t have had it any other way. Beef bourguignon sounds really delicious, you’re a much better cook than I am. Enjoy your evening and make sure you get a glass of wine too, you deserve it 🍷
