Good Morning Saturday 3rd February 2024

Good morning from a dry Bristol. We are forecast a drizzly day, but fairly mild for February.
For the record, the reason I can make marmalade so quickly is that I use a pressure cooker. Peel cooked in 15 minutes instead of some 2 hours!
Spanish went ok yesterday, but I was felled by backache and spent most of the day with a hot water bottle nursing my pain.
I did manage to make the cake for church coffee this morning (and the easiest boiled fruit cake ever).
I think I’ll be kind to my back again today.

Good morning from s somerset, weather here will be dull and uninspiring all day

I was busy altering patterns yesterday, cutting and sticking PDF patterns. That leads to today when I will definitely make a roll neck thin rib top, to wear as a layering piece, first one will be a cream colour.

Speedy hill walk first it does help me keep fit enough for cycling and only takes half an hour.

Good morning from a cloudy, mild Torbay.

Backache is wearing, grandMattie, so I hope the heat and rest do the trick. I find a back brace helpful at such times. DH has had one prescribed because his osteoporosis can occasionally cause severe backache.

A quiet weekend ahead although I will need to practise the hymns as I’ve been asked to play for tomorrow’s early service.

DH will take DGD to sewing club this morning while I get their uniforms washed and sew badges on her cub uniform.We will all pick her up and then spend a couple of hours in town.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's cloudy and mild. An afternoon of unexpected fun yesterday when my arty daughter-in-law called in. We laughed and laughed and she went home with two dresses I don't wear, a reel of garden wire for making something out of a bunch of old keys, a roll of antique lace to add to a top she's converting and a fold-out bench I've no space for. She came with a huge cork board which I've been seeking for ages, free on Marketplace apparently.

Today I'm going out to lunch with her and my eldest grandson. My granddaughter, who usually comes on a Saturday, is visiting tomorrow instead. My broken-footed son is trialling his taxi runs again tonight, to see if his foot is healed, yippee.

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp looking corner of Somerset. Some rain forecast today.

Our first foray into Tai Chi went well. The group leader is clear and supportive, there is real understanding of physical limitations.

After a day in hospital being subjected to all sorts our daughter in law has to return for further scans. The involved team will assess and then share recommendations. We’re relieved at the thoroughness if still worried.

Not sure what today will bring. There’s a package to collect for Mr C which could (will!) involve tea and a scone at a garden centre and there will be a call from our god daughter at some point. Otherwise it’s a wait and see day, there’s little enthusiasm in me for anything requiring energy.

Back pain is debilitating, hope yours eases soon grandmattie. I’m envious of your clear sky mick, although we do have daffodils showing their colour in sheltered spots.

With thoughts of all managing life’s challenges. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a wet hillside in south Glos, a soggy Saturday here.
Yesterday I filled two big bags of books for the charity shop, today I will start on the bedroom drawers and wardrobes.
The dog and I had a very blustery damp wander but it was good to be outside in the fresh air.

Today we are going birthday shopping with DGS4 who was 12 last week. We will hit sports shops and then have lunch at his restaurant of choice - probably Nando's.

We will need a big sit down after that.

Good morning from a cloudy 10 degree W Kent. I shall be waiting for a food delivery and then a quick trip to a local garden centre. DGS5 delighted with some cash for his birthday a proper teenager from Sunday.

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

We had fun with the DGC yesterday, the youngest has had his first haircut and immediately looks less baby like and more toddler like. He’s a happy little thing and good fun.

Today will be mainly rugby focused, I will carry on with my crochet whilst keeping one eye on the tv.

Thinking of all those with troubles especially Baggs, Kalu and Urms.

I won't be doing much today. I seem to have picked up yet another infection, I had an awful stomach bug yesterday and still feel rotten today. No vigil Mass for me tonight. My life seems to be on hold again.
My immune system is so compromised, I am unable to fight infections off. That on top of everything else is a b***er!
One light in the darkness is the kindness of those who have sent me PMs. Your thoughtfulness means a lot to me.

Good morning from Glasgow. 7 deg. drizzly and windy again.

Just finishing my kick start espresso and admiring the large bunch of tulips I bought on Thursday for my bedroom. Cut flowers always lift my spirits. Only plan so far today is to touch up the frame of a gilded bedroom chair with an antique gold wax mix.

Good morning from Malta where we have blue skies and a high of 16°C. There was a small amount of rain last evening but not much.

No babysitting today - I do miss them on my ‘days off’- but I have plenty of boring jobs to do around the house starting with some ironing.

I feel so lazy when I read of all your busy lives, I find it an effort to motivate myself nowadays.

Anyway, as my lovely nana used to say “this won’t get the baby a new dress nor yet mend the old one “ so I had better get on with it.😊

Good morning from South Yorkshire where it is struggling to get light, with banks of thick dark cloud. It is mild though. I slept through last night - very unusual for me. Not a lot planned today. A food shop this morning. If the sun appears later I will go out into the garden for a while. I’m tempted to prune my roses but think it might be too early yet. Other than that it will be reading and knitting.

I’ve had a few of jobs done around the house so I’ve a couple of bills to pay this morning and will then do my weekly shop. Later I might start gathering up things for a tip run I hope to do soon.

Good morning everyone from a dull grey Northampton, mild at 10°C outside. A trip to Sainsbury's and Next is called for at some time today.

Really enjoyed my dance classes yesterday, a change seeing different people in the Friday groups. Caught up with a friend there and we went for a coffee afterwards.

An email from Anglian water yesterday to say I may have a leak, as water is being used constantly 24 hours a day. Think I may have found the source, as I found the downstairs cloakroom tap slightly turned on and running. I tend not to use the basin in there as the hot water takes so long to come through; I can only think one of the cats may have been up to mischief and had knocked it. Anyway, DS is coming down this morning to do a check on the water meter.

More Six Nations rugby to watch on tv this afternoon; looking forward to seeing my Saints team boys playing for England.

Steak for dinner tonight, quick and easy meal to cook.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I will get the house work and my ironing done today. I didn’t have time yesterday what with driving OH to the hospital for various scans.
We need new lampshades for the lounge. I have chosen them but thought I’d sleep on it. The current ones are well over 20 years old and are beginning to disintegrate.
My daughter won £250 on the Premium bonds yesterday. I haven’t heard yet - 5th of the month is usually the latest I hear.
OH will be watching rugby so I’ll take the opportunity to read a book or two - or make a chocolate cake!

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry. Very windy again. GrandMattie I hope your back gets better soon. Marydoll there are a number of nasty bugs kicking around just now.
Yesterday I met up with a friend and dd and dgs2 for breakfast. Another dear friend who I don't see very often appeared too. So we had a lovely blether. Dgs2 behaved beautifully for a toddler and gave the ladies a hug when he left. That made them very happy. The afternoon just vanished and I had achieved little.
Today is housework and shopping. I did washings yesterday. I'm not sure what else I'll get up to. Have a good day all

Yesterday spent time in the garden tidying snowdrops have appeared and found a couple of eggs a little gift from the fox have left them in situ for him.
Tea at DS this evening then we will mind the boys while their parents are out for the evening.

Good morning from yet another wet day here in Sefton. It might just clear up later this afternoon.
Another quick trip to our local retail park this morning. I need to replace my clip on magnifying glass which has just about given up the ghost. Can no longer do my cross stitch without it. Hope there will be a good selection in Hobbycraft. Will also pop into M & S while I am there.
Afternoon tea at a posh golf club/hotel/spa with my DiL & GD to look forward to later on today.
