My favourite Radio 2 D J, what a shock.

That was a shock yesterday.
Steve wasn't my favourite DJ but did help me through some lengthy afternoon dental appointments!
RIP.

That's ironic. I just heard Tony Blackburn saying that Steve hated the dentist.

He was very silly.

Why post on this thread which is in remembrance?

I loved listening to Steve Wright when I was working and having to travel around a lot. Great programming and great company when on air. R.I.P. flowers

I am so sad about the death of one of my all time favourite DJ’s Steve Wright. I read it last night on my phone just after 5pm and I felt immediately saddened. We will all miss such a wonderful man, human being and all round good guy. RIP Steve. flowers

RIP Steve Wright-
he’s been the soundtrack to most of my adult life-
‘loved the shows, Steve, been serious rememberin-no g’-
another gone too soon. 😢

I heard the news yesterday. Sara Cox really struggled to keep it together on her show .
It is so sad to hear he has died .
I used to listen to him whilst working as a hygienist, first on radio 1 and then radio 2 , so for much of my career, he kept me going in the afternoons .
My favourite was Mr angry from purley as I’m from Purley . I used to like the factoids as well .
I read on his obituary today that Kenny Everett was his inspiration for his zany humour type of show with his posse .
RIP

Very sad to hear this always listened to his afternoon show, never did after they hounded him off radio 2 . It must have been very sudden as he do his Sunday show and died on Monday . Brings your mortality home he was a year younger than me. RIP

Did not do sorry

Fillet the fish! My little boy always used to say Phillip the Fish. Used to have us in stitches when we were.driving around the country in his artic lorry.
I feel a.bit lost knowing he's gone, even though I never met him. A sad time for many 😔

Stopped listening to the BBC2 afternoon show when he was replaced but always listened to Sunday Love Songs- liked the sound of his voice

I was so shocked and sad to hear the news 💔 it felt like loosing someone I knew well although I’d never met him …

We always listened to Steve on Sunday mornings. I too felt a real sense of loss- then heard Bodyshop was going into administration and it definitely seems like the end of an era.

Do you remember 'Ladies and gentlemen: Elvis is in the building!'? Not sure if it was an Elvis impersonator or Steve Wright himself that did the voice of Elvis answering listeners questions quite seriously, but it was absolutely hilarious.

For the pendants (I'm one!) Sorry about the missed apostrophe! listeners' questions...

Ramblingrose22 Fri 16-Feb-24 14:30:52

I never listened to him but heard that he'd been axed recently (or maybe last year) by the BBC so I hope he didn't take his own life.

His weekday afternoon show was axed, but he still had two shows at the weekend.
