Both fall on the same day this year. Which one means anything to you or does the day just pass like any other? We are going to get our ashes this morning and I gave my husband an unexpected valentine card as he has not been in great health the last few years

We have been together over 60 years. I still get an ‘anonymous’ Valentine card from him.
Ash Wednesday passes me by but I have an aunt who goes to church regularly and takes her previous year ‘s cross to be turned to ashes.

We take our prior palm crosses (from Paul Sunday) to Church - to burn for ashes, I thought that was normal. Apparently not.

As usual, things happen differently for all of us.

I always threw mine away on Easter Sunday.

The cross, not the Valentine card!

I cam down this morning to find a card, a box of Maltesers, and a box of Black Magic from dh.

I had nothing for him. I’d forgotten!
I don’t think he’s bovvered though - he’ll help me eat the chocs, though he’ll have to be quick with the Maltesers, because I’ve been making a bit of a 🐷 of myself with those already.

Ashing on Ash Wednesday is not only a Roman Catholic tradition, it is very much an important Anglican Church tradition.

Got out of bed to find a trail of rose petals leading to a huge bouquet of red roses and some heart shaped chocolates in shiny red wrapping.
On the mantelpiece was a beautiful card containing a love poem written by Orlin and a gold embossed card inviting me to dinner at my favourite Italian restaurant…
and then I woke up.

I was thinking blimey, right up to the last sentence!

Had a dilemma about the flowers. DH bought me some for Valentine's day but I don't usually have flowers in the house during Lent.
Couldn't have wine with our Valentine's dinner either.
Quelle domage!
