Transgender women and an early state pension.

Transgender women born between 31 October 1953 and 6 November 1953 may be eligible for State Pension from 31 October 2018 to the date of their 65th birthday.

I’m not sure how I feel about this.

*Violet Sky* you can't cure psychopathy. Anorexia is a different condition altogether. Neither can be compared to gender dysphoria.
Thank God for JK Rowling. A powerful voice of sense.

You need to tell doodledog that

I don't think they are comparable either

Constantly trotting out the term gender dysphoria in these discussions is a smoke screen. As I posted earlier on this thread, it accounts for only 0.005 - 0.014 % of trans gender cases.

It doesn't IMO account for those who do not fully transition. For those trans women who adopt a limited outward appearance of a woman by retaining their male genitalia, or the trans man who retains their womb and becomes pregnant.

Unfounded accusations of discrimination, blaming trans women for the actions of abusive men and throwing them under the bus, add nothing constructive to this discussion and are an attempt to close down the debate.

Do you have a peer reviewed link to show this please

Are you saying you believe gender dysphoria is a mental illness?

If so why are we able to cure "anorexia" and "psychopathy" but have never been able to cure gender dysphoria?

Do you have a link to any papers that have been written by medical professionals on curing psychopathy, please? I've never heard of it.

Anorexia nervosa can be treated and people can recover but treatment involves recognising and dealing with the underlying causes with therapy and possibly CBT.

VS
You don't have to discriminate to keep your beliefs. No one does

You’re right and I don’t, but it would appear that you’re talking to the wrong people, VS.

Your comment would be better addressed to those trans who DO discriminate against females in ways that have been mentioned throughout this thread and who, by their actions, damage the image of all TW.

I know you don’t believe that, but the very fact that we, (including you) have to Point out that all trans women are not dangerous proves that that is the image some TW have put into people’s minds.

If you were to address your comment to those TW , do you think they’d accept it more readily from you?

Discussing reality is not discrimination. In order to do things such as maintain single sex spaces we need to be able to say these spaces are not for men. It makes no sense if we say these are not for women. It's an attempt to remove one of the most important tools (language) that we have to secure the rights of women to have spaces without men. The answer remains no.

Smileless2012 Fri 08-Mar-24 11:32:36

No I don't have a "peer reviewed link to show this" VS which is why I said "IMO". It makes no sense to me whatsoever that someone with GD would if they're a trans woman, keep their genitalia, and if they're a trans man, become pregnant and give birth, something that only a woman/female can do.

If you're querying the % I gave regarding the numbers of those with recognised GD, you can google it.

No🙄. I am not. I am saying that they exist, which is what you say every time about Dysphoria.

Oh, sorry, just an opinion. Lots of those flying around. Don't take them too seriously. Get to know actual Trans people instead

Did you ever finish that article I posted?

The equality act manages it quite nicely so I am sure you can too

No trans people here doing any discriminating, so really no point is there.

I can only address the discrimination I see here on this thread, so I am

Mollygo Fri 08-Mar-24 13:30:04

VS I can only address the discrimination I see here on this thread, so I am. 🤣🤣🤣

Fortunately, I don’t have to hide behind excuses like that, so I can address the discrimination displayed by a willingness to support those TW who do discriminate against females, hiding behind an unwillingness to condemn the actions of those TW which I see on this thread, and elsewhere.

VioletSky Fri 08-Mar-24 13:34:52

Except

If trans women were on this thread discriminating I would point it out to them

They aren't so I can't

I can point out the discrimination I do see though, that is all anyone can do really isn't it?

No discrimination is ok

Aveline Fri 08-Mar-24 13:47:08

Thank goodness for JK Rowling. A voice of reason and one who puts her money where her mouth is.

Smileless2012 Fri 08-Mar-24 14:00:34

Yes VS my opinion, just as you express yours without posting peer reviewed links and for your information, I know two trans women, who have both fully transitioned and don't support the intrusion of women's safe spaces, sports, lesbian dating events and the attempts to eradicate language pertaining to biological women.

They simply want to live their lives in peace without the worry of being tarnished with the same brush as those who bully and abuse women with what they say, and how they behave.

Yes I did finish the article you posted, which you would know if you actually took the trouble to read and digest what others have to say. I referred to the brief mention of GD at the very end of the article, in a previous post.

I find it difficult to take your contributions to these discussions seriously TBH with your 'lol's' and crying with laughter emojis.
I find nothing about this issue amusing and as someone claiming to be an advocate for trans rights, I'm surprised that you do.

How do you know that VS?
How do you know that transwomen like those mentioned by Smileless2012 aren’t posters on GN?
That’s another unprovable claim like your everyone in your earlier post.

Evidence for your claim?

VS then added,
I can point out the discrimination I do see though, that is all anyone can do really isn't it?

Yes and I do too. I even recognise discrimination against females by some TW.

No discrimination is ok.
Has anyone disagreed with that VS?

So, without telling you what you think,

(as you earlier mentioned discrimination as meaning ^treating unfairly^)

*you agree that discrimination
against females by those TW who do do so, in sport, safe spaces etc. is wrong.*

It’s good to know.

Galaxy Fri 08-Mar-24 14:40:17

The equality act manages it by saying transwomen can be excluded from single sex spaces where necessary Because they are men.
The answer remains no.
It is I understand very hard for some people to hear that word.

Absolutely and gets threatened with death threats etc. by TRA and males like India Willoughby.
I reckon a death threat comes under the heading of treating unfairly.

Galaxy Fri 08-Mar-24 14:48:27

Have you seen her interaction with the journalist who harassed her, she is just incredible, she probably should be prime minister.

Smileless2012 Fri 08-Mar-24 14:48:51

And yet those of us who are saying that's how it needs to be are accused of discrimination Galaxy!!!

Smileless2012 Fri 08-Mar-24 14:50:43

I'd still love to know what rights the trans community are being denied.

I always post links when asked actually

eddiecat78 Fri 08-Mar-24 16:25:13

It seems to me that a lot of transwomen must have a very rose-tinted idea of what it actually feels like to be female. If they knew what it is really like they would understand why women are anxious about sharing traditionally all-female spaces with men - even those that are wearing a dress. Our reluctance is a survival instinct resulting from many years of experiencing inappropriate behaviour from men - which most of us have had to suffer. Any transwomen who doesn't understand that and respect it hasn't got a clue what it "feels like to be a woman".

The only discrimination here is at the expense of trans women
