Transgender women and an early state pension.

Transgender women born between 31 October 1953 and 6 November 1953 may be eligible for State Pension from 31 October 2018 to the date of their 65th birthday.

I’m not sure how I feel about this.

When you say be better you mean behave in the way you want me to. No thanks. Why on earth do people think that the views they hold are better in some way. Your idea of being better is not mine. It's about a thousand miles apart.

Nothing to do with views being better or worse

More to do with actually standing by them and giving others the opportunity to also have their say without looking for an excuse to dismiss a whole comment

That's where I expect better

I'll defend all of you to have a right to a voice but I won't defend that sort of thing no

VioletSky Tue 05-Mar-24 20:29:35

Come at me with an actual comment that addresses mine without dismissal, name calling or assertions about my character and we can have a discussion

I have told you in plain English what I think this discourse is guilty of

Prove me wrong! Reassure me!

Instead all you do is prove me right because of the way you speak to me

That's to my and trans women's benefit really for the average person reading these threads so I am happy to keep on taking it unless you all want to be better?

VS I honestly have no idea what you are talking about now. I dont need your approval, your expectations dont really worry me. It's not my job to reassure anyone about anything, I can have a view and it may upset people, and some people may agree with it. That's sort of the nature of discussion.

Galaxy Tue 05-Mar-24 20:36:30

Just with regard to being better. I don't need to be. I am on GN. My record on GN is 2 deletions, one for calling a man a misogynist, and one for quoting a deleted post (I was trying to point out that a poster had been racist). So I have no need to do better on GN, I am doing fine, and if I wasnt it would be up to moderators to point that out.

Some people just want their views heard

I am simply one of them

It's not a discussion when people are talking about you over your head or picking and choosing what they respond too...

This is not a suitable place for a soap box

I think every human being who has received unfair treatment deserves compassion and their concerns taken seriously and rectified.

That’s what females are now having to do because of the unfair treatment they receive at the hands of some TW, in sport, safe spaces, medical treatment etc.
I’m delighted to see that you support females at last VS.
Do let us know how you would rectify this unfair treatment?

Here is a very good example

"I am glad you support females at last"

Because for years I have been saying I can support women (sorry not a fan of females, especially when men say it) and trans women to find something that works for everyone fairly without discrimination towards either...

It's like my views don't exist, only what I am allowed by those who need a scapegoat because they haven't actually got any (openly) trans people here to have a go at

grandMattie Tue 05-Mar-24 20:51:46

I’m surprised that there are very few people talking about an inconvertible truth, women have XX chromosomes and men XY. End of story.

Except this is not true either really is it?

VS
I think that people here are perpetuating harmful dialogue that is directly harmful to trans people because it is the truth
Funny you should mention truth in relation to trans. The truth is that you can’t change sex.
Saying you can is a lie. If you choose to perpetrate that lie, that’s up to you. There are lots of other liars we hear about -politicians, terrorists claiming to be freedom fighters etc. What’s one more?

The people most harmful to trans are those trans who commit violent crimes against anyone, but especially females.
E.g. trans who lie and cheat their way into sport or places which are specifically for females (TW are never female) and the TRA who threaten females, screaming insults because the females are telling the truth that you can’t change sex.
All those groups do more damage to trans than any female, because it makes it appear that all TW are dangerous.
Even bi have one sex, no matter whether they want hetero or homo sexual relations and they don’t claim they can change sex.

That's just word salad

Just because you can't follow something doesn't make it 'word salad', VS. It makes sense to me.

Sago

Doodledog Very interesting to read about AGP.

I read an article about a man who confused AGP for being trapped in the wrong body.
He confessed this to his wife and children and then after counselling underwent a sex change.
He was very unhappy living life as a woman and eventually had more surgery to return to being male.
It destroyed his marriage and his relationship with his children.
He advised that any person should wait 10 years before going under the knife for gender reassignment.
He had AGP.

Was that Debbie Hayton, Sago?

There are some very sad stories as people who have transitioned realise that it was the wrong decision, and the chances are that there will be many more as time goes on.

I can’t remember the name, I was just so concerned that young men could be given the wrong advice.
It was a powerful article.

VioletSky Tue 05-Mar-24 21:21:00

To have a discussion, your reply has to be actually address what was said

Tangents can be brought up separately

In the word salad instance I would say 2 wrongs have never made a right

But I would never stoop to justifying my bad treatment of someone by saying that a different someone deserved it... That's just not.... Logical

AlwaysSmiling Tue 05-Mar-24 21:35:51

I am not bothered about who is trans or not, that is their business.

All I am bothered about is why I get less state pension than someone who has not contributed for the same number of years that I have. I started contributing at 15 when I left school to start my first job and finished at the age of 60 when I retired, 45 years of contributions.

If someone could explain, thread through the needle, why people who have worked less years than me but gets more pension then I would love to know.

Allsorts Tue 05-Mar-24 21:43:00

Trans woman can never be a woman, that’s a biological fact and cannot be done naturally.

VioletSky Tue 05-Mar-24 21:49:29

Trans people are transitioning

They will transition as far as they can in order to be their authentic selves

Telling them that they can't or they shouldn't or they are living a lie is utterly pointless and won't help them at all

Doodledog Tue 05-Mar-24 21:52:14

Transpeople barging into women's spaces, mangling the language, winning in female sport, skewing research figures etc doesn't help women at all. Telling children that they are 'in the wrong body' doesn't help them at all either. Does that not matter?

Nanatoone Tue 05-Mar-24 21:59:18

Trans women are not women. They are transgender. As has been said as men they have had all the benefits of being male and now they want the tiny benefit that eco sites because of earlier retirement for women. No. Many women of that generation stayed at home or worked for “pin money”
As it was then called as we were bringing up children, as was totally normal then. These trans gendered people did not do that and have lost nothing by claiming an identity that is not theirs.

VioletSky Tue 05-Mar-24 22:00:29

Safe spaces are protected and organisations have the right to uphold that

Sports are working towards making things fair for women

There is a trans prison and potential to ensure protections in place across the board to prevent predatory men having access to women

It's an ongoing work in progress

That progress was not achieved by being mean about trans people on the internet. It was achieved by common sense and logic and the recognition that the "trans" distinction must be held in some areas because of differing needs

When it is done respectfully and proportionately sensible people can ensure no one gets discriminated against or receives unfair treatment

Which is what myself and a few others have said from the beginning

Issues are resolved by working together not by othering people

Nanatoone Tue 05-Mar-24 22:00:37

Should have checked before posting - meant to say existed not eco sites. Sorry for the typo.

VioletSky Tue 05-Mar-24 22:03:35

Trans women are legally women in regards to pension if they have a GRC

That's the law, and actually there is no point in taking that away from trans women because it won't benefit women to do so

That's just word salad

I thought word salad was trying to hide a lie-and you’ve just confirmed that.
You mean you can’t deny the truth of what I wrote and you are still defending liars and perpetrating that lie yourself. If lying now has a title word salad - so be it. I’ll still call it lying and I’ll still be the one telling the truth.

VioletSky Tue 05-Mar-24 22:14:04

Mollygo you don't get to tell anyone what they think or mean. That's not how it works

And you do not have any power to place your opinion, and it is just an opinion, above anyone elses
