Is keyhole surgery used JUST for hysterectomies and mastectomies? What about other surgery? There are dozens of operations that can be done faster, be less invasive and more accurately, with fewer side effects and a shorter healing time than would cutting a large hole in the patient to get at something that is buried deep in their body, behind a major organ. The patient is less traumatised and can leave hospital sooner, leaving a bed for another patient.
The company that Bill Gates (among others) has invested in is developing a system that is more maneovrable than current keyhole systems. This could be an improvement in this type of surgery for all, including the surgeons who use it, not just trans patients.
You might as well object to Semmelweiss in 1847 introducing the revolutionary practice of doctors actually washing and disinfecting their hands before delivering babies, because it would encourage promiscuity if women were not terrified of dying of sepsis after childbirth.

The link to the article reported BG was interestrd in investing specifically in robots which specialise in womens abdominal surgery.
Whether or not there is a secondary use, somewhere down the line, doesn't apply here, I don't think.

I'm not suggesting and neither I think is BG thinking, that performing more operations will encourage more people to elect to have these surgeries.
Which I presume you are suggesting would be the outcome? Or have I misunderstood your analogy?
Eg: Hand washing reduces the fear of sepsis, resulting in promiscuity.
Safer ops reduces the fear of undergoing a hysterectomy, resulting in more ops.
My point was, if any wealthy investor spotted a trend, and acted upon their understanding of the market by investing.
Then maybe we could infer that (the trend being transgender operations in this case) the so called trend had a long life of financial rewards in store.
My take is the WPATH files expose doesnt look as if it will slow down the mutilation of people.
Not while there is money to made.

Conspiracies about BG dont particularly impact on me, but I do feel strongly about the ethics of investing in this ideology.
