Primrose 58. Honestly I just can’t see the point of reporting the milk jug. Just tell the staff. Why are we not supporting each other just tell the counter staff. Milk turns very quickly. We all know that.
We all have to work and if we were all reported to ‘the authorities’ life would be miserable. Let’s help each other and be kind.

We used to lile their corned beef bakes and steak bakes for a snack when we were out shopping.

They used to do a lovely veggie slice - slightly spicy veg inside yummy puff pastry and covered in toasted sesame seeds. When I was working I had one nearly every day ... until they stopped the sesame seeds!

Just for future reference do they have anything gluten free?

If the staff let the jug get into that state, LovelyLady, it’s obvious that they are not sufficiently aware of good food hygiene. What Primrose described isn’t down to milk ‘turning’, it’s down to lack of frequent cleaning. If the management were doing their job properly they would be teaching the staff about these things and carrying out regular inspections. If the jug’s like that, what’s going on behind the scenes? A visit from the environmental health department would be of far more use to the staff and their customers than a complaint to a member of staff. What’s all this ‘helping each other and being kind’? Would you say that if you had contracted a nasty bug due to poor food hygiene? Staff are paid to do a job and should do it properly.

I often go into Greggs for a snack for my grandchildren after school, it's their favourite. Fortunately they're both very slim so a sweet snack doesn't do them any harm.
They did pretty little Easter fairy cakes recently, with rabbit or chick decorations.

Best to avoid it first thing here, the local homeless people go there then.

The first Greggs was a small independent shop, and I suspect all the small independent cafes we favour dream of becoming equally successful in the future!!

I'm sure ours don't.
Greggs is good at what it does but they are fast food primarily serving the workers in our town and schoolkids.
Our 3 independent cafés are doing very well by offering a comfortable, warm, quiet space and serving freshly made excellent scones, cakes and coffee. No comparison.

I’d rather pay the extra for a Costa

I'd make all the more effort to go seeing as they accommodate the homeless.

It's a shame other businesses don't take a leaf out of their book.

Why is it cheap?

All this used to be said about Aldi and Lidl just a few years ago.

My mum always bought her bread from Greggs and I was often asked togo there for it when visiting. We didn't have a local branch where I lived in Oxfordshire so I didn't realise it was a national chain until we moved to Slough 20 years ago. We have many branches in the town and I have a friend who works in one of them. He often brings cakes from there to church events.
I'm quite partial to their steak bakes if I need a quick snack while out and about. My daughter is a fan of their sausage rolls but I've never tried one.

I will choose Greggs over Starbucks or Costa anytime. But all these places need to be only occasionally as there is nothing healthy in any of them.

I find Costa coffee undrinkable, many times.
Tepid, so that the (naughty) sugar doesn't melt, then bitter and too sweet when you fight your way through the froth, and get close to the bottom.

My son recently read on line that some American tourists enthused about G R Eggs. It will be forever called that in our house.😂

I used to live in the north east where Greggs started and they used to be much better back in the early days. The cheese and onion pasties are like sludge now. They do excellent stotties in the north east but sadly not in the East Midlands where I live so I buy a few on my visits and freeze them. I think the food is ok value for money but very very fattening. I could spend £5 in a better way. On wool!!! Haha!!!

An acquaintance I chat to when swimming at our local baths tells me the sausage rolls at our local market are 'even better than Greggs'! So evidently Greggs is the benchmark.

Actually sausage rolls from elsewhere are much the same as the Gregg's ones, in terms of being fattening and unhealthy.

That includes Mark's and Sparks, too.

Kind of a fiver..... I actually spent £25 on a five metre remnant of heavy weight linen and that works out at £5 per metre. What a bargain!
