The Sunday market thread

It was about a family who went to a craft market every Sunday where every stall-holder was wonderful, but one had gone into hospital.
Was it a hoax?

crazyH Fri 12-Apr-24 12:19:23

Yes, I read that. I think the OP was wondering what happened to him. All she had to do was ask the neighbouring stall holders. I don’t think it was a hoax. Just a genuine concern, I guess, but you never know with GN 😂

JenniferEccles Fri 12-Apr-24 12:22:48

Yes on the face of it it did just seem genuine concern, but somehow reading it a couple of times as I did yesterday (or the day before), something didn’t feel right so I didn’t reply.
I can’t find it so that made me wonder.

Load of tosh. There have been many studies where it’s been established that layers give too many details.

crazyH Fri 12-Apr-24 12:37:02

Petra. ?
JenniferEccles - I couldn’t find the post either

JenniferEccles Fri 12-Apr-24 12:41:28

That’s what I thought. There were impossibly wonderful stall holders and the grandchildren who were loved by them all.
Apparently a lot are written by
‘bots’ now.
What is the purpose?

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 12-Apr-24 12:49:26

I didn’t reply because I didn’t think it was genuine. Whole families spending every Sunday going to the market? The kids being happy to do so? Perhaps they do that in the US, I don’t know, but sounded terribly boring to me.

petra Fri 12-Apr-24 12:49:52

It’s on the bereavement thread.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 12-Apr-24 12:51:14

I am finding more and more new post/posters unbelievable lately.

Perhaps it’s school/university holiday assignments 🤣

That was meant to read liars

crazyH Fri 12-Apr-24 12:55:48

Petra - ok

JenniferEccles Fri 12-Apr-24 13:50:14

Oh yes thank you. I’ve found it. I couldn’t remember the title of the thread but I didn’t think to look under bereavement.

Curiosity got the better of me……what load of absolute tosh!

Would AI spell losing loosing?

Asking for a friend.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 12-Apr-24 16:13:11

Yes, it can be programmed to mis-spell and use incorrect grammar so as to appear more authentic.

Going to market (or shop) is boring, I thought it was a fake.

Norah Fri 12-Apr-24 16:15:39

I've no idea why the quote to losing came in - not my intent.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 12-Apr-24 16:18:27

Going to the market every Sunday seemed to be the highlight of their week.

The terminology was very quaint, though.

Like a translation into English.

I quite like a good market, Norah
Over-priced olives and cheeses from France, mulled local cider, hand-made soaps.
Local sausages

You could spend a fortune!

Callistemon21 Fri 12-Apr-24 16:23:35

And local honey!

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 12-Apr-24 16:26:32

But would you spend all your Sundays, as a family, having such a jolly time at a market?

Norah Fri 12-Apr-24 16:28:51

Going to the market every Sunday seemed to be the highlight of their week.

What a horrible thought.

BlueBelle Fri 12-Apr-24 16:32:27

Like GSM I didn’t engage as it didn’t ring true but it is still live
It just didn’t sound normal going to the same place as a complete family mother, father, daughter and husband and two children every week without fail for 5 years without anyone wanting a change or being ill or being on holiday seemed too far fetched to understand Even walking round in exactly the same route seemed unbelievable
If it is a true person they are certainly a creature of habit which has been passed on to the daughter and grandkids !!!

No, best to go alone 😁
