I have eventually cleaned the fridge!!!
It has been on the list since Christmas. I honestly don't remember the last time I did it thoroughly rather than just the sticky bits.

I might even deserve a medal - maybe 'Slut of the Year'?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 18-Apr-24 15:24:01

Oh that has made me laugh, I could probably be runner-up slut of the year at the moment 🤣

midgey Thu 18-Apr-24 15:25:33

Ohh that deserves a medal…..maybe a CDM? Remember that? (Cadbury Dairy Milk for the younger members!)

keepingquiet Thu 18-Apr-24 15:26:15

Clap clap- you can now come and clean mine, and my oven for that matter. I can match your slut skills!

sharon103 Thu 18-Apr-24 15:28:47

I got half of mine done just before Christmas. Mines about 6 feet tall.
Not got the other half done yet. I'll perhaps get round to it just before this Christmas grin

👏 🥇 Well done!

I keep looking at mine then something more interesting comes along!!

I find it quite easy. I just add ' clean fridge' to my list and forget about it. Job done.

I was forced to clean mine this week as a pack of beef leaked. I would like to claim all the credit but OH did most of it.

Isn’t it nice to open the door and it is all sparkling? Remember Ben Elton’s kitchen rubbish bin sketch?

Luckygirl3 Thu 18-Apr-24 16:04:47

Oh dear .... crawls under table .... mine still awaiting attention .....

Namsnanny Thu 18-Apr-24 16:11:37

What did you use to clean it with Kittylester or anybody who has recently done it?

I generally use bicarb and white vinegar

Aveline Thu 18-Apr-24 16:18:03

Gosh. Can you clean fridges? Well I never did (literally)!

Kate1949 Thu 18-Apr-24 16:18:40

👏👏🥇🏆. Well now I don't feel so bad! I alway think everyone is a domestic goddess with perfectly clean homes. I clean the fridge every fortnight (and it's a big un). Maybe I won't worry so much now!

Just bicarbonate diluted in hottish water to wipe the inside. Poke down the drain hole!
I take out the shelves and drawers and wash those in washing up liquid and hot water.

The oven needs attention.

👏👏!
Today I took 2 big bags of books and other stuff that had been sitting there waiting for weeks on end, to charity shops. 🙂

Callistemon21 Thu 18-Apr-24 16:22:51

Ps I line the veg and salad drawers with kitchen roll or J cloth.

Marydoll Thu 18-Apr-24 16:26:15

I have been going to clean the fridge for the last week.I open the door, look and close it again. Well, that is a start.

Calendargirl Thu 18-Apr-24 16:30:05

And when you finally do these jobs, then you can’t stop admiring how pristine it all looks, and vow to keep on top of it….

‘The road to hell….’

Cossy Thu 18-Apr-24 16:36:21

👏👏👏👏👏 I too have very well developed slut skills, life is too short! I’ve left everything so long it’s overwhelming!

kittylester Thu 18-Apr-24 16:38:06

I didn't know bicarb was involved - does that mean I need to do it again?

I used Method antibacterial!

And, will it last until the fridge dies or will being clean cause it to die? I'll be really cross if it does.

Callistemon21 Thu 18-Apr-24 16:52:25

I think bicarbonate cleans without leaving any smell and also destroys any smell that might be in there, which of course there is not.

Auntieflo Thu 18-Apr-24 17:34:03

Did clean one of the freezers in the garage last week. Does that count? It hadn't been done for 6 months 😳. I keep meaning to buy one that doesn't need defrosting.

I use an old tea towel - and don’t change it often enough.

Wheniwasyourage Thu 18-Apr-24 18:14:18

I found a mouldy lemon in mine this week and put it in the compost caddy. Does that count?

Jaxjacky Thu 18-Apr-24 18:15:39

I’ve ordered bicarbonate of soda in tomorrow’s shopping delivery, so it’s half done.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 18-Apr-24 18:18:20

Oh kittylester, well done. You have made me feel guilty: not guilty enough to clean my fridge, sadly.
