Well done to Sam and all other runners today in the marathon.
As I said upthread, I started a thread about the marathon because I didn’t realise kitty had started one, so I’ve had mine deleted now, but thank you to those of you who commented on it.
My son ran today for the second year running, but I’m hoping he won’t do it again and instead will stick to half marathons or ten kilometre runs like both his brother and sister do. That’s because the training for the marathon is arduous and takes a lot out of those who are not professional runners. He has a demanding job which requires meticulous preparation as well as an eleven year old child, although his partner does much of the more mundane stuff, but when he’s not in court my son likes to take his son to school (too far to walk.) Anyway I’m enormously proud of his achievement; this year he was running for Children’s Cancer Charities and has raised around a thousand pounds. Last year he ran for the London Parks and managed to raise two thousand pounds. I hope he’s pleased with his time this year as he has knocked an hour off from last year, completing the marathon in three hours twenty eight minutes exactly. Tomorrow we’re taking our grandson back to him (school starts again on Tuesday) as we had him and the dog whilst they went to the marathon.
I applaud all the runners, both professional and amateur. It’s not an easy thing to do and takes months of training. They all deserve those medals 🏅 🏅 🏅
