No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.

Comparisons could be made between ‘youthful’ and energetic H and M and the elderly ailing king and Catherine also ailing.

Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.

I remember the ‘banter’. It was very unpleasant even though we didn’t know of Catherine’s cancer diagnosis then. To suggest that William would fail to attend his Godfather’s memorial service, where he was due to give a reading, was a particularly nasty bit of sordid speculation.

I’ve seen references to the alleged affair on line and one mag showed photographs of Catherine turning away from “her former friend”. I can’t recall which colour mag sorry
I’ve always hoped not true - imo Catherine is a real boost to the RF . Hard worker, a people’s person living under a spot light most of us would run a mile from
Let’s hope she and W are tight together

Back to mud slinging?

Callistemon21 Tue 07-May-24 17:39:37

Oh, what have I missed?

Really shouldn't go gadding off out for lunch!!

Iam64 Tue 07-May-24 17:51:06

I’m not mud slinging any more than others who referred to these rumours. I hope there’s no truth on them

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 07-May-24 17:54:29

I haven’t seen the rumours, other than on GN, and I also hope they are groundless. Iam is not someone who ever, in my experience, engages in mud slinging,

AGAA4

Harry chose to leave the Royal family. His decision and many wouldn't have criticised him for that but did he have to burn his bridges on his way out.

Yes, I agree.

Who can blame him for going to live overseas, leaving it all behind and forging a new and different future with his family.

But he couldn't seem to move on. ☹

Sorry Iam I thought I had pasted the post I was referring to

The French and American press were full of the RH and William story. The British press were apparently told to stay away from it.

The speculation in the press about Rose Hanbury is just that press rumours and speculation, no different to the treatment you dislike meted out to Meghan. perhaps it wasn't well timed You and another poster were the ones saying he was likely off meeting his mistress that day, there had been no such press speculation
Blah, blah, blah.
Giles Coren has admitted he started this rumour about William and Rose Hanbury as a bit of a joke and there is no foundation to it.
Be that as it may to deliberately mudsling regarding the King Constantine memorial service was not only poorly timed, but deliberately vicious and “bearing false witness”. Even although you delight in denigrating the RF at every opportunity you must have been desperate to scrape the bottom of the barrel - this is a new low and I had thought better of you Glorianny

‘Apparently’? Where’s your evidence?

Weren't people saying they knew nothing about it?

In the past the Simpson/Edward affair was in the European papers and not the British.

Perhaps they knew nothing about it because there was nothing to know, it was fictional, made up by Giles Coren.

Hope it made him happy to cause such trouble; did he get paid too?

It's awful isn't it, the way some think it's 'fun' to start a scurrilous rumour about innocent people, that then morphs into a repeated lie? I hold no brief for David Cameron, but the sordid tale of him and the pig's head is reported as a made up incident 'for fun' and how often is that still repeated?

M0nica Wed 08-May-24 09:12:04

One could have a whole thread on why some people think it is 'funny' to do or say something that is humiliating and unpleasant about someone else.

....and all the people who enjoy reading about it and also find it funny.
