Harry and Meghan ‘royal’ tour of Nigeria.

No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.

Comparisons could be made between ‘youthful’ and energetic H and M and the elderly ailing king and Catherine also ailing.

Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.

She certainly hogged the cameras at the Invictus games last
year, Harry was just there to follow her.

Cossy Mon 29-Apr-24 09:57:49

What on earth has it got to do with ANYONE where and why H & M travel ?

It’s not their fault it’ll be reported by the media.

I thought the recent health problems of the Royal family had led to an increase of concern and respect for them.

Why should 2 minor royals trundling around a country, even one that has ancestral links with one of them, attract a lot of press coverage in this country? They have received much more muted coverage recently. I think the press are as bored with them as most people in this country are.

What other countries may do is irrelevant.

Oh for pity’s sake - moaning on about H and M as though there’s nothing more important in life.

There are many, many more important and serious things in life than H & M. Not sure how the government is using them, though.
Ridiculing them is light relief.
Surprised you stooped so low to even read this thread, Ian64.

I thought I read/heard that they were being asked to go by the Uk government. Maybe I got that wrong.

We shall see.

Unfortunately, I think it will be widely publicised.
And if it isnt, there will be an "incident" to make it so.

I think you might have got that wrong, fancythat, as I can’t imagine why the UK government would ask them to do anything. Further up the thread it says that ‘the government’ is using them, but I took that to mean the Nigerian government.

Meghan Markle has a special reason for wanting to go to Nigeria, with it confirmed she and Prince Harry will visit the country next month.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are visiting Nigeria in May for talks on the Invictus Games. During their stay, Harry and Meghan are expected to take part in cultural activities and meet with service members and their families. The visit will take place after Harry's return trip to the UK, which Meghan isn't believed to be going on.

The trip to Nigeria be their first visit to the African country as a couple and it's place that holds a special place in Meghan's heart. In an episode of her podcast Archetypes, the former actress revealed she has Nigerian ancestry.

Meghan is newsworthy - have you heard of the term clickbait? People who love to hate her just love to read about her - and then pull her apart. Therefore she's filmed, photographed and News agencies pay £$£$£ for the results - so your comment about her "hogging the cameras" is misleading.

The Nigerian guy confirming H & M's acceptance of the invitation definitely uses the Royal titles, so I guess Nigeria feels honoured to have them visit?

Joseann Mon 29-Apr-24 10:30:39

I'm not being rude or racist by not mentioning the name of the Nigerian guy, I'm away on holiday and can't be bothered to check.

I’m not moaning and I have no intentions of discussing any other members of the RF but I find the heritage connection somewhat odd.

she is of an age when she might well want to explore her roots, all free of course

Anniebach Mon 29-Apr-24 10:37:57

They are such hypocrites, why hold onto titles given by them
by the family they claim were so cruel to them

Why not?? Prince A still has his!

Because if NOBODY shows any interest Netflix will drop them like a stone.

There’s a film (and money) to be made.

Anniebach Mon 29-Apr-24 10:59:13

Surely there will be a camera crew with them.

I think he's the Defence Minister.

Which is logical, as Harry is going there to discuss the Invictus Games.

Have a lovely holiday (I'd log off Gransnet and have a relaxing time 😁)

Callistemon why on earth are you reporting this thread? I only mentioned Catherine in passing. I made no mention of her condition, treatment or prognosis, just that she was ailing or in other words ill, which is true. I made no speculation otherwise.

It was unpleasant.

I get that karmalady but Meghan is now in her forties with two children. I would have thought she would have been curious and done some investigating years ago especially as it’s so easy these days with endless resources and her mother is still very much alive.

I find it hard to believe she only ‘discovered’ her roots two years ago.

Anyway, I thought it was only fair to tell you.

Obviously GNHQ think differently.

Thank you. It's flippin raining, and very windy so I'm leaving going out to explore Boscastle until later.

Callistemon21 Mon 29-Apr-24 11:09:26

Oh dear, lovely rainbow though.

It was lovely and sunny here until the clouds came up the Channel from Boscastle 🌦

... that's about the size of it!

As long as there are people who continue to click on the click-bait - which satisfies those who pay to advertise their products and services - then the reporting will continue. The media don't care who or what they report on as long as it sustains or increases their circulation figures.
