Harry and Meghan ‘royal’ tour of Nigeria.

No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.

Comparisons could be made between ‘youthful’ and energetic H and M and the elderly ailing king and Catherine also ailing.

Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.

I am going to Wales next month - could we perhaps discuss that?

Apparently Meghan discovered she is 43% Nigerian two years ago and wants to explore her heritage.

I find it puzzling that Doria must be almost 100% Nigerian but Meghan didn’t know or wasn’t curious?

It’s a lucky coincidence that a free trip to Nigeria is coming up because Netflix must be running out of projects to film.

Yeah, what a puzzle😂Of course Doria must have known and told her daughter and other family members, but Meghan has a selective memory.

Cossy

What on earth has it got to do with ANYONE where and why H & M travel ?

It’s not their fault it’ll be reported by the media.

Fault possibly isn't the right word.

But of course they want the media to report this! It will be in their Netflix show.

So whatever you think, don't be thinking that H&M don't want this this trip to receive saturation publicity! Of course they do. It's how they'll earn their money.

I don’t know the detail of Meghan discovering her heritage. I do know that during the transatlantic slave trade, many people were taken from Nigeria to be slaves in the USA.
A friend of Jamaican heritage carried his family slave name as his last name. He knew absolutely nothing about his family before slaves were freed on his island.
I find it difficult to sneer at someone with slave ancestors, no matter how many generations ago.

Moaning, sneering! what’s your next accusation Iam ? .

‘The worst thing with being talked about is not being talked about’ so I doubt the gruesome twosome will mind whatever is said as long as they’re in the news.

"Also ailing". A disgusting comment on two people fighting the ravages of cancer. An illness, unlike these two chancers, who lets face it, would have no clout, and dont in many peoples eyes anyway, without being related to our Royal family. She certainly wouldn't. Nigeria and is welcome to them, long may they stay there.

Well, just because I'm in the county, and boring everyone here on this thread while the rain abates , 🥱, did you know Meghan can trace her roots back to Cornwall, Falmouth I think? Apparently it has been established that Meghan was the great great great x ? granddaughter of William Ragland who was a Cornish methodist who emigrated to USA.

AGAA4 Mon 29-Apr-24 12:10:43

Thanks Joseann. An interesting fact about Meghan.

Iam64 Mon 29-Apr-24 12:28:39

I’m not making accusation Annie, I have a different take on these two than you do.

I have no doubt that she will soon discover she is descended from Mary Boleyn, Anne Boleyn's sister, via her daughter Katherine Carey, as are Catherine, present Princess of Wales, the late Diana, Princess of Wales. Sarah Ferguson, Queen Camilla, Elizabeth the Queen Mother and the late Queen Elizabeth II plus many other distinguished people.

So am I, according to an American genealogy website, so Meghan could be my twelfth cousin twice removed smile

But I'm not distinguished grin

In that case Doria is not 100% Nigerian so there is no way Meghan can claim 47% Nigerian ancestry is there?

Iam accusing posters of moaning and sneering? why not
positive things of this couple ?
I have the same respect for them as I do for Paul Burrell, nil

And counting?

Megan has obviously known that she is bi racial but has always presented on her cv’s and casting auditions as Caucasian. It's only relatively recently that she has embraced her ethnicity. Neither her race nor ethnicity has anything to do with her propensity to tell lies.

SporeRB Mon 29-Apr-24 13:03:24

So Ragland could well be the name of a cotton plantation owner in America who employed Nigerian slaves?

I find it hard to believe that Prince Harry was related to George Washington through the Spencer’s family. He once mentioned that the US constitutional law was bonkers. Only an ignorant person will criticise constitutional laws of his host country drafted by his own ancestor.

I found out recently that my grandfather on my dad’s side was a rubber plantation owner in South East Asia.

During WW2, the family home was seized by the Japanese and used as a communication centre and later bombed by the Allies.

My grandfather lost his home and almost all his land since the villagers were building illegally on his land after the war.

Fine as long as it is H & M paying for their jaunt and not the poor of that country through their taxes and nowhere would the word Royal nor Duchess appear.

I expect Invictus will be paying their expenses.

According to one of the wilder Ancestry threads I am descended from Uther Pendragon. Don't tell Meghan or she'll claim me as a cousin.

Aveline Mon 29-Apr-24 13:38:17

Maybe she's just trying to find family members she hadn't fallen out with?

So "ridiculing them is light relief " a rare slice of honesty as to motivation on these threads.
