So far from criticising your holiday treat, I’m just noticing, you almost posted something entertaining and even possibly accurate without suggesting the need to bring out the guillotine .

Obviously others do not think as I do, that Gransnet had a kind of voluntary moratorium on starting threads about the Princess of Wales at the moment while she is receiving treatment.

Well that’s what I thought, for what it’s worth which isn’t much Baggs, I thought this thread was about H&M who are apparently going to Nigeria. It was all news to me to be honest, but there it is.

I did say kind of voluntary, which seemed to be the case and most posters seemed to have decided to resist intruding on the privacy of the Princess of Wales out of a sense of decency.

I used ailing to describe Charles and Catherine as in meaning not in good health. My husband battled stage 4 colon cancer for 7 years and I saw the horrendous side effects he suffered whilst enduring chemotherapy. He lost his balance easily from neuropathy and he lost feelings in his fingers and burning when they were cold. He got constant mouth ulcers and rashes. I was thinking that if they were going through half of what my husband did then they would not be feeling fully fit and well. Hence my use of the word ailing which I take to mean ‘not well’. I did not think it meant dying or at deaths door. I meant no insult or disrespect to either Catherine or Charles.

My point in making this post was to wonder if M and H were trying to set up an alternate royal court with visits overseas and what people’s views were. Just something to chat about.

I wanted different perspectives on it but the level of vitriol is horrible. I won’t post again as the distress the attacks on my post have had me in tears.

I think ailing has many meanings, all mean ill, but to me it means people having a succession of little ills, of the kind that can make many older people's lives very difficult.

Personally I think the idea that H&M are trying to set up any kind of rival court is far fetched. I suspect that that was their intention when they headed away to the USA permanently, but they wanted this rival court to be in Hollywood where they would mix on an equal level with all the great Show business personalities and be feted by the people who meant most to the Duchess.

They got off to a good start, but now their power is waning, they did the Oprah interview and Harry wrote his book, both of which antagonised many people and for all the great contracts they signed the first year with Netflix etc, they have signally failed to deliver and the contracts are all being scaled down and renegotiated..

I do not think the tour will be fully covered by the press. Press coverage is based on how much interest readers have in a subject. There is no point in the media going to great expense chasing these two around Nigeria, when interest back home, and I do not just mean the UK, is at best tepid and at times hostile. These two are a busted flush, like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, they commanded the press for 5 or 6 years and then slipped into a well-deserved press back water. Leading aimless and pointless lives, always prepared to turn up for the opening of an envelope (if someone will pay them)

But it's worth referring to it for a bit of nitpicking while I slurp my Monday wine, (which is allowed on holiday).

I don't think I've ever considered Meghan as "youthful or energetic" in the physical sense. OK, so she walks her dog and does a bit of yoga, (so do I), but I've never seen her join in rugby, race a boat, play hockey, abseil a cliff or try her hand at archery. Despite her friendship with Serena Williams, I don't think Meghan actually plays tennis, does she? So no one, royal or not, has anything to fear that Meghan on tour might make them look lethargic or feeble. Even all the announcements about her various business projects never seem to come to very much. There's a lot of flitting about.

As for Harry "kicking his brother in the teeth" over a random visit to Africa, I'll wait for the day he shows the stamina and intelligence to stick steadfastly at one job before I worry for William.

So from me, it's a no that the tour will be "to the detriment of the rest of the family".

I wouldn’t think William is bothered at all about Harry visiting Nigeria, after the controversial visit to Jamaica last year, William would be relieved not to endure the joys of Nigeria.

Catherine learned not to edit photos, recently a photo of Prince Louis taken by herself was published and was received without any adverse comment.

Well, as they stepped down from being 'working royals' and scuttled off to the US for a new life surely the visit to Nigeria cannot be classed as a Royal Tour, can it?
I know I won't be watching any news bulletins or documentaries that follow on from it.

No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.

Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.

Harry is not a working royal, so if the trip to Nigeria is reported as an official royal tour, then the media reporting it as such will be in the wrong won't they.

Well such comparisons could be, but it would have to be a very spiteful media or individual making them. In fact, I'm puzzled at your thought process - it never occurred to me that anyone would even think along those lines. Or do you think H&M are doing this for that reason?

I thought the recent health problems of the Royal family had led to an increase of concern and respect for them.

Why should 2 minor royals trundling around a country, even one that has ancestral links with one of them, attract a lot of press coverage in this country? They have received much more muted coverage recently. I think the press are as bored with them as most people in this country are.

What other countries may do is irrelevant.

We shall see.

And if it isnt, there will be an "incident" to make it so.

What do you think this might be? Perhaps a Nigerian version of the 'terrifying car chase' seemingly undertaken in the rush hour in New York. Perhaps a revelation of the other 57% of Meghan's make up will prompt another tour. Isn't it all so tedious?

An incident such as, her heel "breaks off" as she goes onto the stage.

Anything minor or bigger, to make headlines. Or clickbait as someone called it.
