I Have Excellent News!

“Two horses underwent surgery. One, Quaker, a Cavalry black, has shown significant improvement and progresses towards what is expected to be a full recovery,” the army said in a statement on X.

“The other horse, Vida, a grey, continues to make progress. He remains under close and careful professional veterinary observation as his wounds heal.”

The statement added: “Of the soldiers injured, two are still undergoing treatment in hospital but will make a full recovery. The remainder have returned to work.

Pleased to see the humans are going to be ok. The grey is still under observation and is improving.i didn't read that he would make a "full recovery" - maybe I missed a later statement though?

Good news. I hope the horses can be retired. Their mental wounds will take longer to heal than the physical ones.

Very good news about the injured cavalry horses as it looked like the two which were loose for longest were the most injured. However, I read last week Vida was a mare.

That's good. Horses are put through such a lot, always have been. A horsey friend told me 'horses cannot take much'. She said they are gentle and sensitive and don't particularly like jumping, as evidenced by their staying in fenced fields, and yet they are forced into horrors like the Grand National. I had better stop right here as this will end up a long and upsetting rant.

It’s true that horses don’t naturally like to jump. They are sensitive animals and can’t take much regarding pain and trauma.

People should be people not just workers. They cannot take much regarding pain and trauma.

The life of horses in the wild is not idyllic, subject to potential death by starvation and thirst, injury and untreated illness, although the injured and sick, soon fall victim to predators, who will kill them by eating them, bit by bit.

Apparently big lumps of concrete or something else very heavy, being dropped by workmen from high up on an adjacent building site.
