People should be people not just workers. They cannot take much regarding pain and trauma.
The life of horses in the wild is not idyllic, subject to potential death by starvation and thirst, injury and untreated illness, although the injured and sick, soon fall victim to predators, who will kill them by eating them, bit by bit.
I think that everyone that feels the cavalry horses are being exploited should offer to look after one for the duration of it’s life ( possibly 20+ years) and provide a big enough field for it to live in and provide a field shelter for it. And be prepared to visit it at least once a day for those twenty years.
