Please will everyone get in touch with GN so they don't just delete these rubbish posts but delete the titles. On the health forum there are 58 of such posts all deleted but they left the titles which pushed all health topics onto a second page. I have bumped up many real topics but getting fed up having to do it.

Many of you have reported these posts but you must feel the same as me fed up why don't they delete the titles and surely they can put a programme in place that alerts them to such rubbish posts .

At least 28 of them Whiff !
I agree absolutely and wish HQ had thought of that.

RosesandLilac Fri 03-May-24 05:26:14

I absolutely agree, surely there’s something that GNHQ can do - Mumsnet seems to have cracked it 😵‍💫

Fairislecable Fri 03-May-24 05:32:48

I agree this is really annoying.

They do say they are looking into it.

Only other thing I can think of, is a mass, people dont use the site.

So far this morning I’ve reported 11 new ones which have appeared in the past hour on the “Unanswered Thread”

I’ve not posted “Reported” on them to avoid any activity that will make them move from there to “Active”

fancythat Fri 03-May-24 06:50:24

Crumbs. There is even more of them now.

It’s a lost cause. Posters are working their way through the scam posts and posting “Reported” on them and keeping them active. We need to all report them but say nothing on the scam thread.

Absolutely!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-May-24 07:13:11

Definitely, I am not posting reported on any of these threads.

nanna8 Fri 03-May-24 07:15:10

It would be good if we could just delete them from our own devices so we wouldn’t have to look at the damn things.

nanna8 Fri 03-May-24 07:18:46

I think I might have to go until they sort this out. It is boring, rude and intrusive.

Grannynannywanny Fri 03-May-24 07:20:40

I’ve tried starting a new thread suggesting posters report without saying anything on the scam thread.

nanaK54 Fri 03-May-24 07:24:56

Excellent - I have been saying that for days

Marydoll Fri 03-May-24 07:29:54

I can understand the suggestion not to to post reported,
However, if there is no indication that a thread has been reported, HQ may receive multiple reports about one thread. That then clogs up their system and instead of dealing with the spam, they are having to delete these reports. 😉

Yes, I have posted ‘reported’, because if not, you just don’t know if anyone has bothered to.

At least you are sure then that HQ are aware.

I am a bit of the same mind.

Exactly!!

I didn't put report on any of those posts just reported them to GNHQ via the report button on at the top of the post on desk top site.

Perhaps HQ might be induced to comment on this, because that's what I feel, too.

What would they prefer, one report or multiple reports?

Elegran Fri 03-May-24 08:08:53

I messaged them twice at the start of this attack, Whiff saying exactly what you did. While a title remains in the list, someone will look at it, and be tempted to tell them what they think.

I think there is a delay while they do whatever it is they do to ban the poster and label the new thread for deleting, before it gets deleted. If someone has just come on shift and is looking through their emails, there could be another delay.

Getting the programmer to add a filter to automatically zap the obvious troublemakers probably means getting an outside company to do the coding - I have always got the impression that Gransnet itself doesn't have any in-house programmers, they take so long to change anything.

There seems to be a lull at the moment. Perhaps they have applied whatever Mumsnet does.

Why would they not have done that months or years ago?
