Prince Harry will not meet the King during UK visit.

Seems a bit harsh? All that way too. He landed in the UK a few hours ago. Without Meghan and the children.

From the Telegraph just now:

“ The Duke of Sussex will not meet the King this week, the Telegraph can reveal.

Prince Harry, 39, landed in London on Tuesday morning and had made no secret of his hopes to see his father during his visit.

But a spokesperson for the Duke said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

I just think if the King doesn't ’find time’ to see his son then Harry might well just think ‘sod it’ next time/if he comes over.

I know Harry bad mouthed the family in his book ‘Spare’ but still …

What do you think?

On a ‘royal’ documentary on Saturday night, the presenter stated that Charles was being treated for prostate cancer.

That was very wrong. His type of cancer has never been disclosed, the fact that it was discovered whilst prostate issues were being treated doesn’t mean that is ‘it’.

fancythat

I assume they think he cant be trusted.

Does anyone think he can be trusted?

That sounds much more like it! Another barney, followed by a flounce is not what KC needs right now and if "olive branches" were needed, a meeting with his grandchildren would be a good starting point. Some sort of contrition over the appalling accusations Harry (and M) made -proven to be blatantly untrue- the "marriage in the garden", the racist slur naming names (oops!), that claim that KC never played with H and W on their bikes, the wicked witch leaking to the press, that Archie wasn't to be called Prince because he is mixed race, etc

no he cannot be trusted and he will try to weedle info about Kate and KC, for his next book. Best to avoid H at all costs. He will likely be wearing a secreted recording device

And who made the announcement to start all the speculation about a meeting?

A 'spokesperson' for Harry.

Iam64 Wed 08-May-24 08:14:52

So far as I’m aware, neither H or the wicked M have discussed the health of the king. Harry had an existing interview after he saw his father. He was asked and declined to discuss the king’s health.

Estrangement is dreadful for all parties involved. On the estrangement threads here, posters are often advised that ‘ both sides’ carry some responsibility for the sad situation.

The last visit of Harry to see his father was announced, photographers at the airport in America when he was leaving,
when arrived, when his car was driven to Clarence House, when
he left Clarence House. Followed by an interview with an
American tv company shortly after his return to America.

No other member of the family gave an interview

They just can't trust Harry. That's about all there is to it.

Charles, Kate and family are going through an extremely stressful time.

They really don't need to have any more stress at this time.

lemsip Wed 08-May-24 08:25:40

King Charles will be protected and advised by 'his people' .

Harry will write about any meeting after his father's death.

Anniebach Wed 08-May-24 08:28:15

Iam i don’t think Megan is wicked, a compulsive liar yes.

maddyone Wed 08-May-24 08:37:13

Whatever Charles may, or may not, have done, everything pales into insignificance compared with what Harry and Meghan have done. To begin with, anything Charles may have done is pure speculation, but everything Harry and Meghan have done is on record. Given the position of the family in the world ie they are known world wide so they can’t hide or retreat into insignificance, then what Harry and Meghan have done is unbelievably disgraceful. I’m not surprised that Charles is not meeting Harry because he is totally untrustworthy. No one from Charles’s team has said anything about him meeting Harry, it is purely Harry’s team that have put out all this speculation, with no doubt the objective of pressurising Charles into meeting with Harry. Well done to Charles for resisting this unneeded pressure. Stress is known to be particularly bad for seriously ill people and it’s the very last thing that Charles needs as he works towards his recovery.

What we hear here is that it isn’t prostate cancer. I’m not going to repeat what is said because it may be wrong ,suffice to say it is serious. Sometimes they block information in the UK for obvious reasons.

Whatever cancer it is, it is personal information and it is not right nor kind to speculate

This is still spreading unsubstantiated gossip though.
The foreign media can speculate all they like -and do- I remember the German press coming up with all sorts of garbage about the Queen 50 or 60 years ago (eg Philip was not Edwards father) -such idle and destructive speculation should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

nanna8 Wed 08-May-24 09:32:54

The alarming thing is that the information is presented as ‘fact’ not ‘speculation’ . Of course it won’t be denied by the palace and they know that.

I agree. I think the days when foreign media printed news which was blocked in Britain are long gone, especially now social media is where you can find all the unsubstantiated gossip and conspiracy theories!

While I’m certainly no fan of H&M, I think it’s funny how it’s now accepted that their ‘deal’ with Netflix consists of Harry broadcasting news and secrets of the royal family. I understood that they see themselves as documentary makers who are going to highlight the many humanitarian issues which Mummy did not live to support in groundbreaking programmes. You know, like the one about the world of polo they are reported to be making.

Anniebach Wed 08-May-24 09:39:51

Like making strawberry jam , can’t remember mummy speaking of jam making

maddyone Wed 08-May-24 09:52:36

I get my strawberry jam from M+S or Sainsbury’s, although occasionally if I go to Waitrose I pick up the Duchy Original one. I like the Bonne Mamam one very much too. I don’t need any over priced jam from Meghan, who most certainly didn’t make it. If anyone is daft enough to buy it, I feel sorry for them for swallowing the hype.

Esmay Wed 08-May-24 09:55:50

King Charles has many duties and is battling cancer -neither is he that young .
I imagine him to be still coming to terms with the changes in his life and frankly : why would he want to see Prince Harry ?
He has denounced the Royal family in his books and in TV interviews .
I wouldn't either .
I'm sure that they will be reconciled one day but not until the dust settles .

Anniebach Wed 08-May-24 09:56:42

Her 50 jars of strawberry jam was made from strawberries in
her garden, that’s a lot of strawberries

maddyone Wed 08-May-24 10:04:57

I don’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth, about jam, strawberries, or anything else. Too many things she has said has been proven to be lies.

Estrangement hurts run deep. I’m estranged from my only sister. She has said far too many horrible hurtful things for me to ever forgive her. I hosted her and did everything for her when our mother died and she actually behaved herself, but as soon as the funeral was over she reverted to type and started making horrible accusations about me. And so we are estranged again. I imagine that Charles feels much the same as I do, basically it’s too painful to open that box again. Love isn’t enough under such an onslaught, personal survival kicks in. I still care about my sister, but I realise she’ll never change and it’s too painful to be with her.

Obviously she will have been making her presence felt and sending messages to M to nurture the souls of the downtrodden with jam butties.

^I've always wondered about the Hitler connection and who was really behind it. I suspect Edward (who was quite a socialist in his youth) was as seduced by the prospect of financial stability as many Germans were. The poverty he saw in working class Britain in the 1930s shocked him.^

Yes, I doubt Wallis would have gone off on her own to meet Hitler, Edward was keen too.
It showed a lack of judgement which would not have been a good thing in a Head of State.

There was a widespread belief that Hitler would be good for Germany and would stabilize it. His actions against communists, socialists and even Jews were seen as desirable. Antisemitism was common then, and the establishment feared socialism. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We shouldn't accept the chosen whipping boy in the RF at any time. It's never that simple.

Anniebach Wed 08-May-24 10:18:45

Antisemitism is common now

PuddyCat Wed 08-May-24 10:20:48

Even after she had made false allegations on television regarding someone in the royal family making racist remarks about Archie, she then wrote to Charles that she didn't intend to accuse the royal family member of racism, but instead wanted to discuss unconscious bias within the royal family. A bit late to have that conversation after you've just announced to the world that your in laws are racist bigots. She was apparently dissatisfied with the response she got from the King. The woman is a media car crash and has a serious problem with running her mouth without thinking of the consequences. Ditto with all her other proven lies.
