Good Morning Friday 17th May 2024

Good morning from Bristol. The early morning mist has burned off. Sunshine today?
I counted 16 spam posts this morning. Really? What’s going on?
Although promising myself a quiet day, yesterday turned out quite busy. I cleaned the floors and tidied the flat up - not that it is untidy or dirty but… then did some more work on a quilt I’m making.
Indoor tai chi followed. We were given quite a workout. Our tutor never does the same thing two weeks running, so we never learn the moves in sequence for the Xi Gung.
After a short nap, I did some more sewing and made birthday cake for one of the Spanish students today.
I was interrupted by my neighbour who gave me three geranium plants she didn’t need, to plant on my newly liberated flower bed. I’ll do that next week when I’ve been to Tesco and got some more bedding plants and fertiliser.

Good morning Mick and GM, you are early risers!

It’s another hot day in Malta but hazy with a lot of Saharan dust in the air.

Yesterday I did manage to take the boys out but it was so hot and humid I struggled a bit. However, they love going out and we saw lots of things which excited them, then a stop at the swings before a very sweaty Nana took them home.

They took a nice long nap after that then woke happy and ate lunch with no ‘strong feelings’! We did a lot of reading in the afternoon and it was a lovely, happy day.

I’m just on my way to look after them, have my weekly hair appointment this afternoon then the weekend looms with a lot of catching up on chores.

Good morning, a lovely bright start here on a hillside in south Glos.
I started moving bits into the summerhouse yesterday, DH is patching up the faulty bits and will seal the windows and gaps.
I spent some time doing bits of gardening and today I will sort out what pots I want where and plant up with begonias and nemesias.
I have a shop coming first thing and I need to do some housework too so plenty to keep me busy.
The washing will be out on the line early and the dog has her lovely walker this morning.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Torbay.

Last night, I was on steward duty at our theatre for our latest production: The Cemetery Club. It was very well portrayed by our actors, all of whom had huge amounts to learn. DH enjoyed it as a member of the audience. As usual, a social time in the bar followed when it was good to chat to the players.

Today, DH has a 90 minute dental appointment for an extraction of the remains of the broken tooth by my dentist. It will cost but it needs doing as he has struggled with it for months but hasn’t been able to see his own dentist in France for various reasons.

Good morning from s somerset, it was wet again all night and the met forecast is dry but it comes with a big pinch of salt

A lovely mixed-bag day yesterday, I did a lot, including my exercise walk. I also finished a warm zipped hooded top that has been a ufo for too long. It is perfect for my walks or cycling. Sewing room is clean, machines cleaned and oiled and ready to go again

My aim for a couple of weeks is to work on ufos lurking in my sewing room, next today is a short, lightweight, loose, casual, swingy informal jacket. Cut out and ready, it was an intended winter project. One of those jackets that looks `hippy` and cost lots in designer shops. Pale cream loosely quilted indian cotton

Apart from eating properly and continuing on my mission to clear freezer space, I have nothing specific planned, except for the sewing. All drinks and meals taken outside, weather permitting

Good morning from Shropshire.A bright start to the day.

Yesterday I spent more time dealing with medication errors for myself and my mum.I had a delivery late afternoon and it was the wrong item again so I will phone the pharmacy again and third time lucky🤦🏼‍♀️

We will take some plants into the community hub this morning for the plant swap.We are also taking our tomato plants to DD’s as the children want to look after them while we are away.School pick up later then we are taking the children to the library then out to tea.DGD and I will probably go shopping as well.

My thoughts are with Doodle and her dear husband.

DH and I had a successful trip to Elie on the bus yesterday, once again everyone knew each other. It's a pity my hearing is so dull, I struggled to eavesdrop. 😉
Being on the bus means that you see so many things you miss, when driving,.
I was happy with my purchases from the boutique, including a gift from DH.. The owner is very honest, no hard sell and will advise you if something is too large/small or doesn't suit. That is probably why she has so many returning customers.

Getting back to Anstruther wasn't so simple. We had timed the bus to allow fifty minutes in the shop, only to find the bus we were going for had departed twenty minutes earlier! 😱.
I ended up downloading the Stagecoach app on my phone, no easy task sitting in a bus shelter, with little reception.
In the past, I would have panicked at the dearth of buses, but for some reason I was quite chilled.
We spent a pleasant time in the sunshine, talking to passers by.

On our return, we opted for a snack in the harbourside café, only to look up to find DD and SIL staring in the window! She hadn't been answering her phone, so I gave up trying to tell her where we were.
A couple of pints of Guinness in the beer garden as a reward for Mr MD's patience, followed by a late lunch in the award winning seafood restaurant finished off a lovely day.
I opted for Pittenweem prawns 《just off the boat) in batter, I have never tasted anything like them. A world away from frozen ones.

On the advice of Kittylester, last year I bought DD and DIL Articulate. DH was so bad at it, oblivious of time restrictions, that there was almost a divorce. Unknown to me, SIL sent a photo of me to the family chat, to show how frustrated I was! DD and SIL were weeping with laughter, as I got more and more annoyed!

I have included a photo of the view from our cottage last night. I love being here!

We are off home today, but will stop off on the way home to stock up the freezer at one of the many fish merchants along the coast and have a final lunch, before heading home.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull 14°C northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday, my arm is still sore from my covid jab but no other side effects.
I did a bit of mending yesterday, which I find relaxing when I do get round to it and had a FaceTime with DD in Crete. Her apartment has lovely views.

I’m off soon on a coach trip to Derbyshire and the Heights of Abraham, I hope it’s not scary in the cable car. So, sandwiches made, coffee in flask etc and I’m good to go.

Morning Mick, morning All. A decent day forecast for our corner of Somerset although it’s currently damp and dismal.

Quiet one yesterday. A little bit of garden pottering. Mr C cleaned some external grime from the conservatory. Later we wandered out for some new shed hinges and a bracket to hang a garden light. Phone calls from our Welsh friend and a long phone chat with our elder son filled spaces. All sounds pretty mundane doesn’t it but it was a good day.

Volunteering for me this morning, the tutor has cancelled TaiChi, instead a trip to the tip this afternoon and maybe a look at the sea front.

With thoughts to all finding life hard going for whatever reason and a hope Friday is kind to us all.

School drop off and pick up today. Little DGD is going to Monkey Business (play area) with Brownies and staying the night there. Goodness, the things they do these days! She tells me that when Brown Owl goes to sleep, her and her friends will play on the equipment at midnight.
Monkey Business indeed! 🤣.

We’ll meet up with our Friday pals today - hopefully sit out on the patio.

DGD 2 starts her A levels today. She’s nervous but should be fine. Lots of pressure on the youngsters these days. 💓.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but a fine sunny day is forecast, so may put some washing in the machine.

Back to my two dance classes this morning, then a dancers' get-together at a nearby garden centre for coffee and cake.
Will make a curry this afternoon and hopefully have a good bit left over for the freezer.

Nothing else planned except read more for book club.

I’m taking my neighbours to a hospital appointment this morning. The whole parking and finding a wheelchair performance is too much for them to manage.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed!
Not sure exactly what I’m doing today. But I have several online lectures to catch up on for my V&A Medieval Women course. Plus the notes from Wednesday’s WI meeting to type up. Even though it was a Cheese and Wine thing, I still keep a record. It is elder son and daughter’s birthdays next Wednesday (two years apart) and I need to know what they might like. We haven’t seen them on their actual birthdays for years! Younger son rang for a chat last night. We didn’t really mention the falling out with his brother. I don’t know…
Our decorators got in touch with a date in May 2025 to paint the front of the house. It will take that long for OH and I to agree on a colour.

Yesterday was the last in four days of childcare. Both boys were really good. They like me to be an audience when they are playing though so my head was on a swivel from one to the other, praising and encouraging. On the way home we made up words to nursery rhymes that fitted them. That was fun.
Today I'm going with dd and dgs2 to his first play group session. He can be quite shy so we'll see how he goes. He starts properly next Wednesday. Later Dsil is dropping off a meal to me from my favourite Chinese restaurant as a thank you for having the boys all week. I appreciate it particularly as they don't deliver to my village. This afternoon, I will attempt to finish my mixed media piece of an oriental poppy. And that will be my Friday. I am in a content frame of mind today. I hope you all have a good day.

Awake early for me after a very early night and feel rather better than I did yesterday which passed in something of a blur. Can only imagine how nasty this version of covid is if the jab produces such extreme results - no problem at all previously. Oldies’ coffee morning outside and some gentle pottering on the agenda.

The kitchen needs restocking and there are several family birthdays soon. A walk to Aldi in one direction and later the opposite way into the City. Luckily both are only a 10 minute walk.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Yesterday’s art group was a quiet session the really talkative members had gone on an outing with a group they belong to. I caught up with the quieter ones. Drove DH both ways to his eye check up the M20 was busy.
Completely out of the blue someone delivered my prescription, I have never asked for a home delivery and we have to go today to collect DH’s so I don’t know what is going on. Usual meeting with DGS5 later

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk after a day yesterday of heavy rain.

DGD1 starts her A levels today and DGS2 is 13 so an important day for 2 of our families. I am taking one of my dearest friends out for the day. It is her 80th birthday next week which she will be celebrating with her family. Lunch is booked at a restaurant in Norwich and a little retail therapy will fill the time between coffee and that.

DH and I are off to Hessle tomorrow to see youngest DGD in her dance concert. She is just 7 and so excited about it all. The photographs of the dress rehearsal show her grinning from ear to ear. DS will have our little dog who will enjoy her holiday with his family and their puppy.

Brilliant night at the outdoor event in my hometown where the fabulous Van Morrison entertained a packed arena (well a big field really). Somehow I got onto the front row so had a great view.

Off to the Open Garden scheme this afternoon. Exhaustion will soon hit me 😀
