Good Morning Saturday 18th May 2024
(38 Posts)Good morning from a grey Bristol. We had a lovely day yesterday on the whole so shouldn’t whinge about thunderstorms today.
I had a quiet day after my Spanish class, I was tired again. When I was young, I couldn’t understand how old people were tired all the time. I still don’t get it, but have joined the “tired club”.
Today, I need to go to Waitrose for a few things, then stop at the surgery for my COVID booster, then on to church for the coffee morning.
I’ll probably do more patchwork in the afternoon and have some more of the chicken curry I made last night.
Gentle thoughts to those is sorrow, pain or anxiety; ihop3 the weekend is kind. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning Mick and everyone, I am hoping for another lovely day as I want to get the bits into the summerhouse and tidy the back garden. I have lots of plants needing to go into the borders and pots too.
Everything in the garden is growing so quickly, I have roses out and the foxgloves are 5’ tall already.
Yesterday DH continued patching up the ‘ruddy shed’, honestly it’s starting to become a joke here. I haven’t heard a word from the company 🤷🏼♀️ let alone an apology or offer to correct things so I guess I need to stop wasting my time and energy on them.
I enjoyed pottering around yesterday, there’s always plenty to do.
I will walk the dog early across the field I think so she can go off lead and do zoomies, which always makes me smile, daft pooch.
Have a lovely weekend 🌹
Good morning from a fine, dry Torbay.
Thank you for your concern regarding DH having a tooth removed yesterday. Unfortunately, the dentist was unable to extract it completely but says it shouldn’t cause further problems. olddudders was pretty wiped out by the experience but responded to my attempts at nursing! A light diet, salt water mouthwashes and no alcohol are recommended for 24 hours. He’s still asleep at the moment.
Have a good weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning Mick and all who follow from lovely Espana where I’m on my last week of this 🌞 spell so here’s more of the good stuff to top you all up in Blighty 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
A busy weekend with goodbye lunches and tapas 😋 with different sets of friends before we trot down to the coast for a few nights in a posh hotel then home to little 🏴 on Thursday - can’t wait, the “hiraeth” gets me every time!
Sad to read of Doodle’s challenges 💐 and so many of you with similar worries, our loved ones health and wellbeing are paramount and it’s tough keeping things normal in these times - my heart goes out to you all x
May you all find something to lift your spirits this weekend x
Good morning from s somerset with more rain forecast all afternoon, the slugs are having a field day, they had another rain bath last night
I need to occupy myself today, one dd is on a very long cross country run today and the other is on a very gritty off-road 115 mile cycle race in a very hilly area, both will have beautiful far-reaching views. I will be glad when they finish
So a walk into town for a bit of shopping, I want to make two cornish saffron loaves later and this afternoon I will settle down to sewing my hippy jacket, so far so good with that. I can see it being a very handy `throw-on`
Have a good day
Good morning from Malta where the weather is not very pleasant. It’s dark, rainy and there is red Saharan sand everywhere. It is going to hit 30°C later.
I have a doctor’s appointment this morning after which a stop at the shop for some food, then home to do some dust removal. It’s not worth doing a big clean until this weather passes. I did the laundry and bed changing yesterday when I got home so that’s one job less for today.
DD3 was poorly yesterday so she was at home in bed all day but the boys were angels. I miss them on the weekend.
Sorry to hear of olddudders’ ordeal yesterday. Hope he feels better when he wakes up.
Thoughts to all with struggles. Life certainly is not easy at times.💐
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning from Shropshire.Another bright start but rain forecast later.
Preparations for our week away today.
Hope olddudders is feeling better today.I had a similar ordeal some years ago and the rogue piece of tooth eventually worked itself to a position where it could be removed😖
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning all from N Bucks where it is fine but overcast.
Just when I thought things could not get any worse after losing my good friend and neighbour of over 30 years, another close friend who lives diagonally opposite me on the green, lost her 50 year old daughter to kidney failure caused by sepsis on Thursday night.
She had gone into hospital with Cellulitis but did not respond to the a/b’s and it was decided on Wednesday to discontinue all treatment except palliative care. Only 50 and single.
We are all in shock here, her poor mother is devastated. It’s so close to home and something we can all identify with.
After my R hip and lower back issue improving enough for me to attempt my trip to London on Wednesday, my L knee has decided to pack up and is making life very painful indeed.
I’m sorry I am such a misery this morning it is hard to be cheerful when I have just lost one friend and see another devastated by her loss so I might withdraw for a bit , wishing you all however a safe and troublefree weekend.
Good morning from Menorca.
Final day here - things have improved, but, given my age, not somewhat I’ll return to.
Thinking of Doodle today,
💐Rosiesmaw
Best wishes to all. X
Morning Mick, morning All. The sky can’t make up its mind. Clear at the front, clouds at the back. Our corner of Somerset is forecast showers, we’ll see.
Volunteering went well yesterday, most of the afternoon was spent sitting on the sea front watching the world pass by. Admin for me this morning, Mr C has promised to iron yesterdays laundry. More to do today, no, I don’t know where it comes from either.
A sad time for you maw, a lot to process. Take care. Thinking of everyone with sadness in their lives. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m so sorry that some of you are having such a difficult time.
Last night when it was OH’s turn to cook, he decided we should go out for dinner! So we did and it was all delicious.
It is Oxford Arts Weeks at the moment. There are one or two studios nearby so I’ll go and have a look. I have a weakness for pottery.
Our picnic table, which is over 30 years old, is on its last legs so we are going to order another one. Apparently these days you have to assemble them yourself! Eek.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from a sunny and bright Oxfordshire.
The garden has gone berserk whilst we were away, so some serious weeding to do, I’ll have to do a bit at a time as my back won’t let me do much. I was up at 5am so the ironing is done.
MzOops has taken over the upstairs bedrooms, put up cupboards and shelving in the bathroom and made herself at home. The garage and garden cabin are stuffed too.
Oh well, until she gets her house this is her ‘home’ it will be fun having her to stay but at the moment she is house
Roses 💐
Have a good weekend everyone.
Good morning everyone from a bright and dry Inverness, sunshine forecast for later
So sorry to hear such sad news rosies what a shock and how very sad for the family
I’m gong for a much needed colour and cut at the hairdressers this morning and then calling into DD2s for a cuppa later
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and very foggy. With luck, it will burn off quickly. RosiesMaw how sad for everyone. It's been a difficult time for you. 💐
Susan enjoy your week away.
Yesterday my motivation returned in the morning and I whizzed about, doing all the usual weekend chores. The sunshine helped. Dd asked if I wanted to go with her and dgs2 to his playgroup visit. He went after all the children had left so had all the toys to himself. Initially he was very shy and hid behind his mum, but soon he was exploring the vast array of toys and it was, "Gamna, come!" I played with him while his mum did all the necessary stuff. He then howled when he had to leave 😄. In the afternoon, my motivation left and only returned enough for a small ironing. At night, dd dropped off a Chinese takeaway for me from our favourite restaurant. So a lovely day all told.
Today I'll wash the whites and hang them out. Then I'm meeting a friend for breakfast at my local garden centre. I'm not planning on doing much, apart from some weeding later. My friend who I go to the ballet with, is on holiday in Georgia and Armenia and he sent me a message at four this morning, telling me about his trip today. Of course, it wasn't four in the morning in Georgia! So I've not had a great sleep. I really want to finish my oriental poppy painting today, so that's the plan for this afternoon. It'll be a bottom of the fridge dinner tonight. Have a good day all.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very grey South Yorkshire. It may brighten later. Food shopping this morning, some general indoor cleaning, and then I shall tackle my mucky car and plant up a large planter by the front door with geraniums.
Hope Olddudders feels better soon, Ash.
RosiesMaw💐
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning all after overnight rain the sun is shining here in the Black country long may it continue.
Will pop into town and meet up with the boys after Dgs1 gymnastics classes.
Over to friends in Redditch this evening.
Usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Rosiesmaw 💐
Thoughts with our absent good morning friends.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️
Good morning all from a misty North Leicestershire.
Not a lot happening here today. DH is going to the gym then we may go to the jeweller in Nottingham to have one of my rings made smaller.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning Michael and everyone
It’s going to be a scorcher today here on the east coast of Fife.
I’m going out at 10 am to the Fife agricultural show, it’s going to be another adventure for me with my friend pushing my wheelchair to each event. I love the show jumping and the chicken coops, I was going to buy one one year but decided against it I didn’t have enough land for hens scratching away at the earth I’m going to have a fun day though
Get that sunscreen on those who are having a sun kissed day it’ll save your life
Good morning from a grey W Kent. A morning of ironing and then we are going to visit DS and DIL for a cup of tea and a catch up. I am hoping to see DGD1 if she is around as she has said she would like to make some jam like I used to make.
Rosies
Enjoy your holidays and breaks
Best wishes to all
Good morning from a dull but increasingly brightening Black Country
Met up with DS for lunch in Wolverhampton with Mum yesterday. He is mega busy at work, and could only spare a short time.
My youngest DGD is 13 today! Seems hardly any time at all I had a couple of days off work and awaited her birth with her older sister at a children's soft play centre.
Off to DD's later for celebratory Pizza's.
Maw
Bonny I wear sunscreen on my face every day, even in Winter.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Maw, I’m so very sorry for all the sorrow you are experiencing. 🫂💐.
Good morning from a grey Colchester. Looks like the sunshine has moved North. I too wear sunscreen every day whatever the weather.
A quick walk to buy some fresh bread and salad then home to tackle DH's fishing laundry.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from a bright & getting sunny Sefton. Washing on, will definitely get it out on the line today. A bit of a potter around the garden this morning then lunch out with DS2 & DGD2 in a canalside country pub. DH, who is out & about this morning delivering plants with our local Lions Club, may or may not join us.
Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 11°C.
What a sad time for you Maw. That poor lady and her family. I hadn't realised how serious cellulitis is, with the risk of sepsis, until I came back from Spain with it and was told by my GP that I was extremely fortunate that it had been caught just in the nick of time.
I'm pretty exhausted after my rest on holiday and my joints are refusing to co-operate. However I have had a lovely time. DD and I never fell out once, which must be a world record! 😂
On the way home, we visited the fish supplier in St Monans, the display held all sorts of strange creatures, I had never heard of a wolf fish, but it looked pretty intimidating, with its sharp teeth.
SIL leant over the display to look, only to quickly jump back when some of the creatures moved!! 😁
DH and SIL refused to listen to my advice (what do I know?) and insisted on following the Sat Nov, which took them down 20 mph, single track country lanes in a brand new car. DD was raging!
The main road was less than five minutes away, if they had listened to me! After all, we have only been coming here for the last forty years. 😉
Our original plan had been to stop in Kirkcaldy for lunch, but we were far too early, so a McDonald's just off the motorway near home was the choice.
After all the restaurant meals this week, it was a welcome change.
DH has a thing about cheese, thank goodness automatic ordering means that a last he can have a Big Mac, without complaining about all the parts he doesn't like! One of the reasons I can only have one, when he isn't with me. 😉
Today I need to sort out the website with parish news, tidy up the bombsite of a spare room, ( How can someone have so many summer dresses?).
Vigil Mass tonight, where we will see Dollie and I expect we will, have a visit from Babydoll, with my birthday gifts.
Yesterday I ran to get some essentials from the shops and when I returned, there were more birthday gifts from DH lying on the bed! 😍
Hoping OldD recovers quickly and enjoy your break, Susan.
Good luck with your appointment Bella.
Have a great day, Bonnybanko!
Enjoy your day folks.
