Good Morning Everyone,
A dry but signs of overnight rain here in brackley with grey overcast sky .
Plans for today other than usual bus trip to Bicester , and watching to Giro on Eurosport later .
Had some good news in appointments my visual fields test date as changed , but it collides with telephone appointment with the colonial nursing team , which I can rearrange as i rely on buses I would be travelling to the field test when I would have got the phone call appointment .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Tuesday 21st May 2024
(52 Posts)Good morning from a clear Bristol.
I had a busy day. I got some bedding plants at Tesco when I did my shopping. After storing it, I went outside and tried to dig the bed, recently and unexpectedly cleared by the cut ting back of the Choisya. The(borrowed)fork wouldn’t go in further than about 8”, the result of over 30 years neglect and builders’ rubbish…. As it faces NNW, the sun doesn’t get there before mid-afternoon. I allowed it to dry a bit.
After my WI meeting, I went back. Half emptied two of my pots, putting the spent compost on the bed, I dug it in and planted it out. It’s already looking great. More watering today, before the predicted rain tomorrow/Thursday…
I’ve got tomatoes in two pots, and plant to put in a runner bean in the penultimate and a courgette in the last one.
Fabric Shopping today and my first PCC meeting this evening.
Best wishes to all who are struggling. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning, dry and sunny later in s somerset, until early evening
I emptied a large keter storage chest outside yesterday, all contents are in the garage for now and I discovered that spiders get in. I am going to try the peppermint oil repellant method later today, I will have to buy some essential oil first inside and perhaps also wd40 around the outside edges.
I will definitely be taking a bike out this morning, a longer ride on my old pedelec e bike as there are several steep hills.
Have a good day
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and chilly but blue skies to compensate. GrandMattie it's a nuisance when builders do that.
Yesterday went well. Dgs2 was well behaved and played nicely indoors and out.
Today will be more of the same. We'll go into the garden and he can play with water and sand as much as he likes. For dinner later, I'm working through a gammon joint and serving it with Jersey Royals. Have a good day all.
Buen dia Mick and GrandMattie- that garden is looking good after your efforts! 👏
Just enjoying the chamberpot ☕️ as I tick things off my to-do list as we’re off to the coast for a wee spree in a nice hotel with a 🏊♀️ before returning to 🏴 on Thursday.
I’ll be sweeping the 🏖️ as well as I read on Soops thread that Mr & Mrs Urms have some marvellous news and I’m sure she’ll appreciate my efforts soon…bless you both 🥰
May you all have something to smile about today x
Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire.
More gardening today, trip to the Garden Centre and that’s it, apart from sorting out some Banking and a visit from theBathroom fitter to update his quote.
Excellent news from Urms
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from a bright Torbay with the chance of rain later this afternoon.
It can prove difficult to fit in various medical appointments, Mick; I’m guessing yours are with different hospitals perhaps?
You really are making a difference in your corner of Bristol, grandMattie, between your home environment and the community of the church. Well done!
I hope you have another good day with your charges, Grandmabatty; it's so much easier when they can be outside, I imagine.
Back to the theatre this morning to meet up with the Props team where we shall be busy storing the props used in our most recent play. The set builders began working yesterday and will continue throughout the week to construct the set for the next play so the place will be buzzing. We had a good turn out yesterday for the “stuffing” so the new season’s brochures are now in the post.
I enjoyed my “Move It Or Lose It” class yesterday but my knees aren’t too happy this morning!
Have a good day, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Another grey cool day in South Yorkshire. Yesterday I cleaned the inside of the conservatory. I noticed a bolt had come loose from the footrest on my trust old recliner but couldn’t get into the right position to put it back so it will have to wait until I can get it turning onto its side. It needs someone stronger than me. It really ought to go to then tip but I can’t bear to part with it!
Ironing today and a volunteer session.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Morning all, it’s 11 here and cloudy should reach 18.
Had fun looking after GD & GS at after school yesterday. They made an enclosure for over 20 snails, fed and watered them 🤣I liberated them whilst they were riding their bikes.
This morning it’s bed changing and feeding the washing machine. I have a manicure at lunchtime. After school pick up I have the fun of swimming lessons with The Imp and 9yr old.
You are busy grandMattie
🥂🥂 dear Urmstongran & Himself
🙋♀️
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A bright start here.
I had my first escape pain session yesterday along with a group of others awaiting new body parts.
It was basically an exercise class. One man left saying he did quite enough exercise. I think he and I were hoping for massage and meditation.
You are doing marvels gMattie in your new abode.
I think I can guess why you are spring cleaning pantglas I hope I'm right.
Potting and pottering today. I'm enjoying lettuce from the greenhouse.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning from Malta where it’s cloudy and 23°C. I hope we are finished with the dirty rain as I cleaned my car yesterday.
I’m with the boys as usual, one has had his breakfast whilst his brother is still asleep.
So happy to see the good news from Urmston. A big relief for all the family I’m sure.
Loving your garden GM, I’m afraid I seem to be the kiss of death to plants.
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.
I have an empty day ahead except for going to Mass which I don’t normally do but the priest who has been temporarily placed with us for over a year has been recalled by his Bishop in Nigeria and leaves today so I’ll go to see him off.
Other than that the day holds nothing more exciting than domestic chores I expect.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a beautiful sunny hillside in south Glos.
That border looks lovely Grandmattie, what a difference it makes.
Yesterday was more pottering in the garden, housework and sock knitting, very pleasant and relaxing. More of the same today after I get the ironing done.
I also made a big bowl of tabbouleh, so healthy eating for me (DH won’t even taste it but I love nice salads)
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹
Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset
Found the rhododendrons yesterday - eventually - the sat nav is sacked and was lucky not to be beheaded. A beautiful, peaceful place where the loudest noise was birdsong.
Today will be different. Grocery delivery, hair cut for me before round two with our energy supplier and on to general dust removal. Friends are coming tomorrow so some food prep also needed.
With luck a photo will post. Not promising though. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
Good morning from a grey Colchester. Warm and damp is the forecast. Complete opposite to yesterday's sunshine.
Charity shop volunteering day as usual.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from an overcast NE.
Yesterday went well, DD came and took me to Harrods for my Dior consultation. We had a glass of Champagne while being told the story behind each fragrance in the private collection,
DD is travelling home to Brussels this morning after two weeks in the UK, I am really going to miss her.
Hairdresser coming this morning and then I am going to have an easy day.
Kind thoughts to all.
Good morning everybody. Im delighted to share with you all that I’m back with you lovely folk for the foreseeable as yesterday at the Christie we were given the wonderful news that the scan done 3 weeks ago has shown ‘significant shrinkage’ of the main tumour and all mets. I cannot begin to tell you how much this result has lifted our spirits! All being well we can even fly out to our ‘happy place’ for a three week holiday in August with the family.
We are back at the Christie this morning as Himself is still receiving weekly iv chemotherapy until July. Lucky us eh?
“Carpe Diem” indeed. This last 12 months have made us appreciate even more than we did, how very precious life actually is.
Good morning all from the Black country very dull at the moment after some overnight rain.
DH has a dental appointment this morning, then we will take a trip to the garden centre deli I'm running short on a few of their products.
grandMattie your garden is looking good.
Excellent news for Urms & himself .
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️
Good morning from a brightening Sefton. A pleasant day with sunny periods forecast. A getting on & doing day, too warm & I flag & am good for nothing.
U3a this morning with no set plans for the rest of the day. Will see what needs doing & will get on & do it....possibly.😬
Have a good day all.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
A quieter day for me which may involve listening to one or two lectures from my V&A course on Medieval Women and making a batch of lemon ice cream. I spent several hours yesterday updating several WI records.
OH is having to buy new Queens for his beehives. When he took up beekeeping last year I don’t think he realised how much time it would take!
Such wonderful news for the Urms!
Good morning from a grey Essex coast.
Lovely news Urms, best wishes to you and your DH.
Not a lot happening here so I will wish you all a good day xx
Good morning from a cloudy South Downs.
We have a man with a van coming today to remove all the garden rubbish and stuff we’ve accumulated. Then I shall be able to tidy up the utility area of the garden and generally sweep and organise. One more job done.
The fledgling starlings are beginning to appear - so all is noise and bustle. They eat mountains of mealy worms. Just hope Tofu keeps away, but a not confident that he will. His owner said he gave permission to spray him with water😮, but I couldn’t be so mean!
Enjoy your day all
Peace and harmony to the world.
Good morning everyone from a dull and overcast Northampton, rain forecast later, and unfortunately all day tomorrow which is when my gardener is booked to come.....
Yoga yesterday, made more difficult by my aching muscles from Sunday's gardening. Then a day of catch-up at home; scrubbed some of the outdoor cushions, stripped the bed, washed the bedding and changed to my summer duvet.
By which time it was nearly 4pm, so sat in the garden and read for an hour and a half.
Hoping the rain holds off till after our health walk early afternoon.
Will make a large chilli when I get home.
Wonderful news from Urms! I am sure they will be enjoying a Spanish holiday before long.
Wishing all a good Tuesday.
urms such good news! What wonders the doctors perform.
Good morning from a grey Suffolk but I feel sunshine all around having just read your wonderful news Urms. I can feel the radiance in your post. I’m thrilled for both of you.
We arrived home yesterday to find no heating or hot water and having checked that we haven’t run out of oil ( we haven’t if the monitor is correct), it’s a phone call to D who has serviced the boiler since it was installed 20+ years ago. This may be the end of it’s life although Dvhas always encouraged us not to get a new one as,to quote him” the new ones aren’t anything like as good and strong” as ours. Something to do with modern steel I think.
Driving home from DS’s a message flashed up on the sat nav saying there was a fault which seems to be no recognition of a speed over 50mph. So a visit to the garage in the Hope a helpful mechanic can quickly reset it. Just hoping there isn’t a 3rd hazard.
On a more positive note,I’m meeting a good friend at the coast for coffee,a walk along the prom and then lunch which will be lovely.
Hope today is a good one for all.
