Good Morning Everyone,
its grey cloud and its raining here in brackley this morning.
It makes you wonder if the UK will get the extreme weather conditions they have had in parts of Europe .
Plan to my usual today and have at least a couple of hours in Bicester and meet up with some I know.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a wet Suffolk where we had lots of rain in the night. More threatened I think for today. I’m off to my keep fit class shortly having missed the last 3 because of other commitments. I imagine I’ll feel stiff afterwards.

Off for coffee with a few from the class and then home to ignoring a huge pile of ironing no longer.

D fixed the boiler yesterday. DH left him a message at about 8.30am which he didn’t pick up til lunchtime as there was no mobile signal where he was working. He came early afternoon, diagnosed a broken motor, had the right one to replace it in his van, fitted it so that when I came home from lunch at the seaside with a friend at about 4pm the house was hot!

D said not to move any settings for 24 hours so we melted in the evening but we’re so pleased to have hot water and heat,if needed, again. We are so lucky to still have very competent, efficient and lovely work people locally who we have known for years, several for 40 years since we moved here. If some have retired, their businesses are still thriving with the next generation of skilled people.

Good morning from a very wet Oxfordshire, just like yesterday.

Dog day today so a wet walk later.

MrOops seems to be improving but was quite unwell last night, 2 steps forward and one back, but feeling better generally.

MzOops was due to arrive today but delivered a friends baby last night, the Douala didn’t arrive until it was time to cut the cord, due to it being a rapid birth and 3 weeks early. Mother and baby are doing well and are safe and sound at home.

Hugs to those who are stressed or unwell, have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton; been pouring with rain since yesterday evening.
At least it stayed dry for our health walk in the afternoon, which had a good turn-out, and was a pleasant walk along footpaths and through woods.
Made a large chilli when I got back and there was enough for 5(!) extra portions for the freezer.

Am expecting the gardener today, but doubt whether he will come as it is raining hard.
Will stir myself and clean the bathrooms today,.Then settle down to read this afternoon.

I also need to ring the plumber at some time to come and fix the bathroom loo - it is a built-in one, and I had to dismantle it as it wouldn't stop flushing, and now I can't get it back together again!

Easy dinner tonight, gammon, egg and chips.

Urms, you will love the Crawdads film; it keeps to the story pretty well.

Have a good day everyone.

Back to grey skies again and with rain forecast so normal service appears to have been restored. Coffee with friends and singing so a good day ahead, so had better get on with it. Hope everyone has a good one even though yesterday’s good news from Urms is unlikely to be bettered.

Good morning from a grey and rainy NE.
Yesterday was a quiet day after hairdresser left, gave me time to tidy round and rest in the afternoon. Covid has really sapped my energy.
Sister rang last night from Germany and talked for 1 hour 43 minutes, no time to watch TV after that.
SIL is coming today and will take me shopping.
Have the best day you can.

Good morning all and it’s still raining.
Dh has come down to say he’s going fishing 😳.

Today I’ll go to church and then walk up to town to meet my friend for coffee. I have a cheque to bank (premium bond win) yay! , pick up an order from M and S . It’s market day so a few plants to be bought I expect.

I’ll pick up little DGD from school and take her home.

Take care and have a good day 🌸

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C, with rain forecast.

I had a very positive telephone appointment with the R.A specialist nurse yesterday. She had thoroughly checked my records and said that cardiology were happy with my last heart scan, ( I didn't know this), so I can start my treatment at last, without a clinician being present to supervise.
However, given my history, I have to phone for advice/help, at any sign of a reaction.
She did note how unwell I was and suggested that because the medication takes twelve weeks to kick in, I have to phone in a couple of weeks if my pain levels are still high and they will look at my pain relief. Steroids may be a short term solution.

We then had a day out to GoOutdoors, The view from the
Erskine Bridge, down to the Tail of the bank, always lifts my spirits.
I got my rain jacket, a puddle suit for Babydoll and DH new golf shoes in the store next door, followed by a World Buffet lunch.
The sun was shining and all was well with the world.

I was feeling quite content, until I got home to find my email account was locked on every device. This has never happened in all the years I have gad one.
This meant the dreaded call to Virgin Media. Taking a deep breath, I phoned.

Warning! Novella rant.

My email address is linked to our broadband account and DH is the account holder. They kept asking for security details, not mine, but DH's.
I knew if I held on long enough, someone would come on the line. The agent refused to talk to me until DH, who was downstairs at the other end of the house, was present.
I took a deep breath and roared at the top of my voice, no response. So off I went to get him. Stairs are my downfall, once down, I struggle to get back up.
I was huffing and puffing, while all the time, this agent in some far corner of the globe was constantly telling me that he needed to speak to the account holder.😡😡😡😡😡
Eventually I got DH, but of course he need his security details, so we trooped back upstairs again. DH was not amused.

It was like something out of a Whitehall farce, DH unable to hear (remember he is NOT deaf) what the agent was saying and my BP and heart rate rising by the second.
Eventually DH is cleared and I start to explain the problem.

Ma'am I cannot speak to you, it must be the account holder.

I try tell DH what to say, but of course he has trouble listening hearing and was causing confusion, by mishearing. This went on for ten minutes with DH getting rattier and rattlier and we were no further forward.
Eventually, the agent said he would send an email to my other email account to get me back in.
However I first needed to log onto to the Virgin Media site. Unfortunately, although I have a profile, I am not the account holder and he should have asked DH to do so. More confusion.
I was running between two rooms and two PCs. The whole call was descending into the chaos of Dante's inferno, with the agent insisting on DH being at my side at all times.
The email from Virgin failed to arrive. Back to the other room to tell the agent.

Ma'am it can take up to six minutes, please be patient. 😡😡😡

Well dear reader, it did arrive, but the link didn't work. 😭
At this point, I had totally my voice and the will to live.

Agent: Ma'am have a glass of water and you will be fine.
My thoughts at that moment are unprintable,

The agent then asked me to hand the phone to DH ( because he is the account holder )
Agent: Please tell your wife that I cannot resolve this, it is a technical issue at Virgin and I must raise a ticket. We will get back to you in five to six working days. 😭

After I exploded, he said I will call today on ^your mobile.
My mobile or DH's mobile?

Your husband's mobile.
NO, NO,NO. He never answers his mobile and it is MY email account.

Agent: I can't call you, you are not the account holder,

I asked if he could call the landline.

Ma'am, please hand the phone to your husband, as the account holder and tell him what you want to say.

Are you surprised that I took to the drink last night? 😉

A safe journey to OldD and prayers and hugs for all, who need them.

Have a pleasant day folks.

What a nightmare scenario Marydol. My BP went sky high just reading about the phone call!!!!! grin

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 22-May-24 09:13:20

Blimey MaryD - I would have resorted to tears before screaming!

Pittcity Wed 22-May-24 09:13:22

Marydoll this is precisely why all our accounts are in my name 🤣🤣🤣

Once when DH was on the phone to one of his personal accounts the agent told him to get me out of the room because I was pressurising him. We had to resort to passing notes because he hasn't a clue!

Blossoming Wed 22-May-24 09:24:29

Good morning Mick and all from rainy Lancashire, currently 13°C.

It looks like we’ve said goodbye to the sunshine for the rest of this week. I had a lovely walk down the riverside path yesterday. I had been hoping to do similar today in the opposite direction but it’s just too wet. Not much else planned for today so a quiet day it will be.

What can I say Marydoll, I know security has to be tight to prevent hackers but that sounds extreme! I hope you can access your email soon.

Safe journey to all travelling today and may any appointments go well.

Have the best day you can, whatever you’re doing 🌹

hollysteers Wed 22-May-24 09:34:32

Good morning Mick and all from a wet 16°C northwest coast.
Music club yesterday and a couple of new members (a duo) who, to me, talked too much before their songs. We need to keep it moving for everyone to get their share of performing in. I think they were on a one off visit🤞I had my evening meal in the garden last night but it started gently raining on me…

DD here, arriving v late last night from Greece and travelling back home to the south today. I go to see live ballet from Covent Garden tonight.
Thoughts as always to those with worries 🌺

Georgesgran Wed 22-May-24 09:46:35

You have my sympathy MD - so like my calls to Scottish Power in 22/23. Six months of Hell and repeating myself, apparently to thin air!

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 22-May-24 11:49:17

Marydoll you have my sympathy. Almost all of our accounts are in my name. Dh is totally computer illiterate and of course ‘Not Deaf’. I also deal with some accounts for brother and sister in law. I’ve had my name added as ‘authorised to deal’. It meant having the relevant parties there to give permission, then they updated records so the info shows when I need to ring. It can be so frustrating can’t it?

Extremely wet here in Co Durham, so wet I drove dgd to school even though it’s just half a mile away.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.
