Good Morning Thursday 6th June 2024

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk. It is such a tonic to wake up to such weather.

I have my stretch class this morning and then an afternoon of pottering in the garden where weeding needs to be done. They,like everything else,seem bigger and greater in number, than previous years.

There is a replica Spanish galleon in Great Yarmouth,complete with rigging,cannons etc. It is there until Sunday before it sails on to another port. I mentioned it to DS yesterday and he phoned last night to say he had booked tickets for us and DGS 3 to go round it on Saturday. He will pick us up too. DH and I had vaguely talked about going this afternoon but it will be more fun to see it through the eyes of a 10 year old.

Hope today is a positive one for all,especially those with heavy hearts.

Good morning everyone from a sunny south Manchester. I’m having L’il Miss again for a few hours from late morning while her mum finishes those reports on her laptop. A less expensive day is planned. 🤣 We have a Gregg’s in the square for a gourmet lunch (!) then I think we may get the bus to visit my stepfather. L’il Miss loves being on a bus as it’s something she very rarely does!

She said yesterday “if it’s sunny tomorrow can I play in grampa’s garden?”. It reminded me of an occasion a couple of years ago when she was 5y, saw his washing line strung across the garden and asked “is that a zip wire for grandpa?” 🤣

Good morning from the Black country it's another sunny start to the day but yesterday began like this then went very windy and overcast for most of the day.
Yesterday found us clothes shopping for DH very successful, 6 new polo shirts and a pair of Sketchers.
Hope Urms enjoyed her girlie time with Lil Miss yesterday.
Out with friends this evening.
Will now get me a drink and read everyone's happenings.

Good morning all and it’s rather misty here by the North Sea.
Hopefully the sun will break through.

This evening we have D day celebrations on the beach with a beacon being lit at 9.15. Brass bands will play 40’s music and the cafe will stay open for fish and chips. Fingers crossed the weather will ‘play ball’. 🤞

I will wander along the beach this morning with little pooch and see if our friends are at their Lodge. I think they were arriving today and will have a coffee with them.

We checked out the Wardens Trust place just along from here where some friends will be staying in July. They are both disabled and this place caters for their needs. It looked very nice but a little institutional. I hope they enjoy their stay.

I’m not sure what we’re planning today. Take it as it comes.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A little less wintery than yesterday when I had to sit in the car during a hailstorm as it was too fierce to open the car door.
Sad news for you Bellasnanna. My df mum died yesterday after some years in a nursing home but being visited almost daily and taken out.

My DH sister is in Edinburgh so I'll go and meet her at DBiL house. I haven't seen her since their mum's funeral. Life changes so when we become the old ones.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton; forecast to stay dry today, so a load of washing is in the machine; I also plan on cutting the front grass.

Spent yesterday morning on the phone with cruise and insurance companies trying to sort things out for my newly booked cruise. The cruise company will no longer cover me on their included insurance, even though nothing has changed for me healthwise; it is the medical insurance rules that have changed. They referred me to their sister insurance company, who gave me a good quote. Phoned the cruise company back and they agreed to pay the premium, which was very good of them. Although it isn't till next April, it's good to have something to look forward to.

Enjoyed the French rom-com film yesterday afternoon, and did a bit of shopping in town afterwards.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright and breezy Carlisle.
Nothing much to report from yesterday. I popped out after lunch to deliver a freegled item and then drove out of town, visited the post office in the next village to post a parcel and circled back home through the southern outskirts of the city to see how the bypass is coming on. Some days it makes getting where I want a little tricky as roads are regularly closed.

This morning I have a party of newly fledged blackbirds in the garden. They have discovered the many berries still remaining on my pyracantha. They're yellow and generally disliked by the blackbirds who seem not to return for second helpings.
I'm going to tackle the ironing shortly and then hope to be in the garden where there are lots of little jobs to do.

During WW2, the Germans occupied my home island. We apparently had 13 living in our house. Even though I was born in 1950 the war and its aftermath was very much a part of my childhood.

Good morning from coffee time in a chilly north of Scotland, where there is some snow on the hilltops. The heating is on.
Yesterday, there were constant cloudbursts, hail and thunder. I did not feel guilty for watching the tennis in the afternoon.
There are remembrance services in both nearby towns at noon. It will be very emotional.
After that I shall pop into a newly opened deli, hopefully for something special.

We spent several years in Jersey in the early 80s and loved it. But, yes, even then the aftereffects of the occupation were still being felt!

Came into work this morning, set up my till, card reader, laptop etc., opened up, went into the kitchen and boiled the kettle to make a Cup-a-Soup, took out a sachet of Chicken and Veg, stripped off the top, literally just about to put the powder in and there was an ''unexpected sneeze in the nose area'', sending powder all over the place including in my hair and face! Took me ages to find all the powder to tidy it up!

So that's how my morning started!

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire, currently 12°C.

Yesterday was a good but tiring day. The Orthoptist confirmed my eye movement is still good although the Botox is slowly wearing off. I hadn’t seen this particular young lady before, she was very pleasant and helpful. She reiterated that I can have the Botox as often as I want and all I have to do is ring the Eye Centre and they will add me to their schedule. This is such a change from struggling to get referrals and appointments, which many of us have experienced. The trouble all the eye team, from the consultant downwards, have taken to explain things to me and answer my questions has helped me to cope with my vision impairment better.

The plumber came yesterday evening. He had a look at the leak and the shower room, discussed options with us and the outcome is we’ve decided to rip the entire shower room out and replace it. We are changing the layout completely. It really doesn’t work for me, many of my most painful falls have happened in there and there are many hard surfaces to hit on the way down. He has quite a long waiting list, as any good tradesperson does. It’s going to be months before he gets to us, but we are happy to wait for a good job. He can fit everything for us but we need to buy all the bits. So now we need to visit some bathroom showrooms and buy what we need. I have been doing a lot of online research. The plumber has recommended a bathroom supplier to us so we need to visit the showroom and have a look. Lots to think about!

It’s a beautiful sunny day here but my balance is so bad at the moment so no walk for me. I will push on with the declittering. My brain keeps telling me it’s Friday, it’s been a crazy week.

Good afternoon. Things got in the way of my posting early today.
SIL brought the camera I have bought for GD she is going to be studying photography. Sadly we have been unable to find a particular lens that she requires for photographing wildlife and sport.
Today is going to be a quiet day.
