Just that really. Seems that he went for a walk and hasn't returned.
He's ubiquitous on my various feeds. I've done the 5:2 and the 16:8.
Hope hes OK

I hope there's a good outcome for him. He's one of my favourite authors/presenters. His Fast 800 diet is incredible - helped me lose significant weight and reverse my T2.

Same for me Hollyhock1. Saved my life . I hope they find him well.

Redhead56 Thu 06-Jun-24 18:31:06

Just heard the upsetting news of all the Drs on tv he is my favourite. I have his books he has always been admired I hope he is found his family must be beside themselves with worry.

RosiesMaw Thu 06-Jun-24 21:46:53

Any more news?

Grandmadinosaur Thu 06-Jun-24 22:05:51

No further news online. I’ve been checking for any updates.

Calipso Thu 06-Jun-24 22:07:45

Nothing. I have a very bad feeling about this. I can't imagine what his family are going through.

farview Thu 06-Jun-24 22:20:47

Please God let him be okay..worried re him leaving his phone on the beach...Why?...forgot it..or on purpose?...

JenniferEccles Thu 06-Jun-24 22:26:28

Locals have reportedly said they can’t understand why anyone would choose to hike in the 40deg heat, rather than take a boat back to their accommodation.
His poor wife must be beside herself. Let’s hope the morning brings some good news.

I cannot believe this. He’s so clever. All fingers crossed that he’s found soon.

Marmight Fri 07-Jun-24 06:34:31

Praying for a positive outcome.
This brings back memories of over 10 years ago when one if ‘ours’ from Gransnet went missing. I often think of her and her family 😢

BlueBelle Fri 07-Jun-24 06:56:40

As I said before I don’t watch daytime tv so don’t know the man who by this thread seems very popular but having read a brief synopsis he sounds a real risk taker Injecting venom into his body and eating tapeworms to see the outcome and his extreme 800 calories a day all fit with someone who thinks he is superior to all logic so it seems to fit with him believing he could walk in dangerous unknown terrain, in midday heat

I hope they find him for his and his families sake but looking as if this gamble was a step too far

karmalady Fri 07-Jun-24 07:04:35

I feel very upset. He has taught millions of us so much in his quiet pleasant way. Not looking too good after missing for this length of time

DanniRae Fri 07-Jun-24 07:08:07

sad I am praying that they find him safe and well x

Yes, Marmight - I remember vividly commenting to a mutual friend who had an email address for Greatnan and her daughter and questioning why nobody had heard from her for a day or two as she was generally in regular contact.
That set the ball rolling and a search operation was initiated where she lived and went walking in the Alps.
We all know the outcome but it is possible that without the “Gransnetters” her body might not have been found for weeks or months.

so it seems to fit with him believing he could walk in dangerous unknown terrain, in midday heat

.... and without his phone!

silverlining48 Fri 07-Jun-24 07:25:13

I remember Greatnan, was that really 10 years ago? GN friends played a big part alerting others and allowed a search to begin, although the outcome wasn’t what anyone wanted.
I hope Michael Mosley is found soon. Just hearing in the radio it was only a 20 minute walk from beach to his accommodation.

It does seem rather odd.

I’m another one who immediately thought of greatnan.as I expect many of us did.

I feel oddly upset too.

I agree about the risk taking thing. When I heard about it, even without knowing much about him, people who are in the public eye are often risk takers. That is how they got where they are in the first place.

Not that we know he did take a risk a couple of days ago.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jun-24 07:48:10

It was the first thought we had on waking and immediately checked for news on line. It’s very strange. Seems he might only have been 500ft away from his home after his last sighting. I even had John Stonehouse’s ‘disapperance’ come to mind just now. All speculation of course but how can anyone just … vanish?

I'm sure you didn't mean your post to sound so unpleasant BlueBelle
Maybe take a look at the good things he and his wife Clare Bailey have achieved in the field of medicine and wellness before dismissing him as a crank. What you describe as his "extreme 800 calories a day" has a sound evidence base.

Whatever has happened to him, I fear the outcome is going to be a sad one.

DamaskRose Fri 07-Jun-24 07:58:13

Just hoping and praying for a good outcome. I’m following his low carb recommendations and have felt so much better, lots more energy, so I’ve a lot to be grateful to him for.

BlueBelle Fri 07-Jun-24 08:39:10

No it wasn’t meant as an unpleasant post Calipso as I said I don’t follow the man and don’t know anything about him so when I saw a ‘tv personality had gone missing’ I looked him up and there looked some very extreme stuff that he’s been using/ experimenting with call it whatever and that can lead to others following (injecting snake venom and tspeworms as experiments) I also saw that the anorexia society was not happy with him 800 calories a day for life is very extreme
Now that’s one side of it and I m sure from the posts on here he has some other methods that have worked brilliantly for people
What I was pointing out was that a person who took such major risks in medicine could easily have the belief that they would be fine in what others would see as a dangerous trek or walk that’s all
But as I said previously like everyone here I hope the outcome is a positive one although it’s not looking good is it

Joseann Fri 07-Jun-24 08:47:45

Isn't he an influential media doctor of sorts? I'm surprised he didn't have his phone on him at all times.
Very sad, and awful for his family. 🤞

foxie48 Fri 07-Jun-24 08:50:17

tbh I don't think it's looking good. I hope they find him but they think he may have fallen into the sea.

Jane43 Fri 07-Jun-24 08:54:13

I hope he is found but being missing for so long in extreme heat does not bode well. When my husband was diagnosed with T2 diabetes a few years ago it was his low carb philosophy that helped us deal with it, it was reversed in three months and stayed that way so we have a lot to thank him for.
