There have been many comments by colleagues and also his wife saying that he was "adventurous" and "a risk-taker", and when he was still missing, I watched the brief film clip of him with his umbrella, and he was really striding purposefully which I posted about on here at the time.
He wasn't just strolling in the heat, and I do wonder if he was actually challenging himself because he had that sort of nature.
I have also read that he particularly recommended spending time in nature without a phone which is clearly bad advice in certain circumstances. I make sure I carry my phone, but it doesn't mean I look at it every 5 minutes. We're lucky enough to have this technology and I've found it very useful when, for example, my car broke down one time.
