Are you too scared to post what you really think?

Just that basically.

There’s been a few times that I’ve wanted to post something that I don’t think is provoking or malicious or offensive, but I’m really too scared to do so, just in case someone takes offence.

I never really thought that I would be too scared to say what I thought but I think it is now the reality of life in these days of everyone taking offence at the slightest thing.

Joseann I have found that most things I post are ignored completely.

I have been on GN for years and most of my posts aren't answered. It doesn't mean they haven't been read and may have given the reader some pause for thought so I carry on posting and I hope you will too. I read your posts!

I like reading your posts AGAA4 and find them balanced. I think I’ve answered some of your posts in the past but maybe not recently.
Please don’t stop posting.

After a lot of deletions on what is a friendly and comforting thread I am definitely thinking carefully of what I post.

Good for you, and I'm sure your posts are appreciated by many.

I was told about that GG and as I rarely go on that thread, I took a look. My word, it was a shock.

JamesandJon33 Thu 20-Jun-24 11:52:53

I think not

Thank you maddyone and Joseann.

I’m another who welcomes posts from AGAA4 - does this make us bees 🤣

Doodledog Thu 20-Jun-24 12:58:39

Me too, Iam. Quite a few of the posters I remember from when I first joined GN have left (or transmogrified smile) ) for better or worse, but I remember AGAA4 as one of the names I looked out for back then.

It's a shame if people think their posts get ignored - I'm sure they don't, and it's just that nobody gets an answer to every post.

Iam64 Thu 20-Jun-24 13:28:41

Some posts that get a big response do so because they encourage debate or a like on 🤣

Iam64 Thu 20-Jun-24 13:29:46

Posting on iPhone- will try harder . I meant a pile on not a like on. I press send an the gremlins have fun

Joseann Thu 20-Jun-24 14:47:16

A like on sounds good, Iam64. A bit like writing a post to attract adulation! Everyone would end up chasing pats on the back.

Very good post Joseann grin

I feel very humbled that some of the posters I respect the most have said they read my posts. Not at all what I was expecting so thanks to all.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jun-24 16:55:49

I always read your posts AGA. You are a voice of fairness and reason, always measured in what you say.

AGAA4 Thu 20-Jun-24 16:59:11

Thank you GSM. You are another of the posters I respect.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jun-24 17:10:04

Thank you AGA. That’s very kind of you. I know my political views are not to the taste of the majority.

I have never noticed a post from you which is rude or aggressive towards other posters.

Your posts are always informative.

Iam64 Thu 20-Jun-24 17:22:43

One of the positives of gransnet is the ability of posters who don’t share similar political views to discuss, to disagree whilst respecting different points of view

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jun-24 17:23:57

Absolutely, Iam. There is so much more to each of us than our political views.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Jun-24 17:46:24

Definitely Iam64 👍

I choose not to post on party politics, though I might contribute some information based on knowledge and personal experience as a benefit advisor, if relevant. I avoid being political as I find those threads may generate unpleasantness or personal digs.

I have certainly responded to your posts a number of times. I may not have inclded your name in the post but I hve certainly referred quite explicitly to its content.

I do not think you can equate no one specifically addressing you as 'being ignored completely'. When interested in a thread, I will read several pages of posts taking in each and using them as a whole to inform my reply. that way i am getting a picture of the width and depth of the debate and the direction of travel and I frame my post around all that information.

JamesandJon33 Thu 20-Jun-24 19:58:09

Point taken MOnica Thank you
