TillyTrotter Sun 30-Jun-24 13:24:13

soop if I may I will place my chair at the base of your Umpire’s chair.
I won’t get in the way I promise. Hoping to see great tennis from our Jack Draper, Billy Harris, Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart etc. They have warmed up nicely at Eastbourne.

Sorry to read your news Yiayia big hugs x

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Jun-24 13:51:41

Yia so sorry to hear that news. Hopefully the medics will be able to sort out a treatment plan very soon and get DH on the road to recovery.

Please look after yourself also. I am not one for hugs and kisses but you know I mean well.

annsixty Sun 30-Jun-24 13:54:25

So much sadness in the kitchen at the moment but so much love and many prayers and kind messages.

I have woken up this morning to a very swollen right knee.
It is stiff but not yet painful. When I had them both x-rayed about 7 years ago which led to my last TKR this one was deemed moderately damaged.
It has only troubled me occasionally since then but it is like a balloon this morning.
I am away for 3 days from tomorrow with my friend across the road so timing is not good.
We are going to Nottingham so I shall take lots of pain relief and gel to rub it with and hope for the best.
I shall ring the surgery when I get back but wonder what they will advise as I will be days off 87 then and will they recommend an op?
I think if they do I shall have to raid the savings and get it done privately.

It is a dull but not chilly day here today.
Chicken thighs with salad and new potatoes tonight and I may keep glancing at the football.
My H would have been glued to the screen for the whole tournament.

Have the best day you can folks and love to those in both kinds of pain.

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Jun-24 14:09:14

I opened a bottle of wine each time England played recently to no avail. I will not bother tonight because I expect zilch.

After 90 minutes they will be returning to their hotel to pack and Gareth may well need a one-way ticket to somewhere far away.

There is little else on.

harrigran Sun 30-Jun-24 14:46:42

Yiayia, sorry to hear your news. I know how you are feeling, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer eight years ago and it is a great shock to hear the words. Stay strong and enjoy each day.

soop Sun 30-Jun-24 15:18:15

Yia Your husband's diagnosis will have come as a tremendous shock. Please take good care of yourself. Maw's words and harrigran's message will hopefully give you some comfort. Please do share your feelings with we Kitcheners. Be assured that we are rooting for your husband and care about you at this difficult time. flowers

This is the tiny beautiful Georgian church I attended today.

While OH is bravely watching England tonight I will prepare a consolatory dinner of chicken casserole and chocolate sticky toffee pudding. With lashings of cream of course!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 30-Jun-24 16:10:28

Here’s the church!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 30-Jun-24 16:11:07

Again…

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 30-Jun-24 16:12:07

Sorry about that! Sometimes GN behaves rather oddly when trying to post something

Nannytopsy Sun 30-Jun-24 16:19:14

Another one joining the group hug Yiayia and wishing your DH a quick decision and treatment.

Baggs Sun 30-Jun-24 19:54:12

Yiayia, such a diagnosis can feel as if the breath has been taken out of you. A hug from me too and a hope that treatment will be possible. 🫂

Grannmarie Sun 30-Jun-24 20:33:55

Annsixty, enjoy your trip to Nottingham with your friend. I hope your sore knee doesn't limit you too much.

mrshat Sun 30-Jun-24 20:44:26

Yiayia a hug from me. Such difficult news to accept. Positive thoughts, love and prayers winging their way to you. Look after yourself flowers.

brook2704 Sun 30-Jun-24 20:57:48

Thanks for sharing the picture of the church llfl, your dinner sounds delicious, hope you both enjoyed it

Enjoy your trip away to Nottingham ann hope your knee doesn’t spoil things too much and the swelling goes down soon,

I had an interesting afternoon with DD2 viewing a couple of houses on her quite long shortlist of houses to buy - boy is she hard to please but I suppose it’s the biggest spend anyone ever makes so I can understand, it’s just that she keeps changing her mind 😳 Anyhow I don’t say much, just agree, nod and smile at the appropriate time. There is a clear favourite although it’s the top end of her budget - no surprises there! She’s working out the finances tonight …

Thinking of lots of our kitchen pals facing tough times just now, take care all and sending gentle hugs xx

cornergran Sun 30-Jun-24 21:28:26

Sending much love yia. X

Jaxjacky Sun 30-Jun-24 21:59:16

Phew Gareth, don’t do that again next Saturday please 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
A day of cooler, cloudier weather for the greenhouse veg, the grow bags were being watered sometimes twice a day, it’s dark earlier tonight too.
A walk this morning and a phone call to my son with a gentle reminder, he’s new to car ownership, of a thing called a MOT in August.
ann I hope your knee calms down, enjoy your trip.
Did I hear a cork pop about 7:30 Charley?
May those struggling know others are holding you in their thoughts.

brook2704 Sun 30-Jun-24 22:14:23

Jax definitely edge of seat stuff!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 30-Jun-24 22:19:44

The sticky toffee and chocolate pudding was delicious. The thing is, for some strange reason I made the recipe for 8-10! I wondered why I had to use one of my biggest dishes. There are only two of us and OH doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth. Perhaps I can freeze it?

dragonfly46 Sun 30-Jun-24 22:23:32

So sorry to hear your news Yia I know exactly how you must be feeling. I am joining the group hug.
