I went to bed very late even for me but I could not sleep because I had itchy lower legs due to bad circulation caused not lymphedema. Luckily there is nothing in my diary so I can have a lie in if I do return to bed.

We will be moving today so I must keep an eye open because I do not want to be left behind.

I will be standing at the door this week handing out money to the handyman, Morrison's for an online delivery, a service and MOT, my cleaner, the grass cutter and if there is any left, the chiropodist on Saturday.

soop Mon 05-Aug-24 14:18:16

I am keeping an eye on our kitchen status. In the meantime, I shall attend to preparing our new gathering place in good time for us all to celebrate.

A phone call from our pals in the village. They will be calling in later this afternoon. I had better do a little light dusting. wink

Jaxjacky Mon 05-Aug-24 18:45:31

I hope you’re safely at your destination Nannytopsy, food shop done and feet up with a 🥂.
A funny day on the voluntary phones, some time spent on a safeguarding issue with our chairman, a tricky judgment call.
In between washing was dried, I had a long chat with a friend and moved some money about, not quite out the door like Charleygirl.
Oven f&c with mushy peas in a minute, then off to quiz.
I hope the work on your house is progressing well SueDonim.
My thoughts are with Nannyg4 Yia Doodle and anyone else really struggling x

Nannytopsy Mon 05-Aug-24 18:52:22

Yes, now in Chinon! A modern little bungalow, which is lovely. DH said that while he likes quirky old houses, he really likes clean and modern!
Supper in the garden tonight.

brook2704 Mon 05-Aug-24 19:08:39

Just been watching the ladies cycling at the Olympics, a big well done to Team GB 🥇 I’ll go and dish up dinner now that excitement is over!
It’s been really warm but cloudy here today, a bit of shopping this morning then gardening this afternoon
Enjoy your holidays nannytopsy and the vineyard 🍷
Good luck in the quiz Jax
Have a lovely evening all x

Doodle Mon 05-Aug-24 19:28:47

Jaxjacky thank you for thinking of me. Life isn’t easy at the moment but some days are better than others. People have been very kind but I miss my beloved so.
Sending hugs to all who need one. ❤️

Grandmabatty Mon 05-Aug-24 19:35:20

Hot and muggy all day here in Polmont. Brook I was watching the Ladies cycling too and got quite emotional. A busy day today with the boys. They were very well behaved but I'm flagging a bit now. My sciatica is playing up. I'm going for an early shower and then will tidy the kitchen before watching Assault on Precinct 13. I'm a big fan of horror and thriller films. Enjoy your evening all, dear Kitcheners.

Urmstongran Mon 05-Aug-24 19:43:48

‘Evening All’.

We ate in tonight. So it was salad and cold roast beef.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰
We've had some heavy showers today, although it's been warm and 'close'. Good for the garden! I met up with my childhood friend today, we had lunch and put the world to rights. When we returned to the car park, her car wouldn't start so I had to jump start it.

Glad you've got your water back on Soop, we take it very much for granted. Can't believe we are nearly ready for a new kitchen. I will bring some fans, to help us keep cool!

Hello 👋 to Grandmadinosaur and all the new visitors to Soop's special Kitchen.

Charleygirl, sorry to hear about your poor legs, I hope you manage some sleep tonight. 😴

Good luck for your quiz, Jaxjacky, this might be your lucky night. Sounds like you had a great time with your DGS while his Mum and sister had some girl time.

Happy holidays to Nannytopsy and all on their travels, safe journey to Urms and Himself to their happy place.🇪🇸

Sounds like you had a lovely catch up with your friends from the gym, brook, you must miss them and the good routine you had. Nice to keep in touch. Thank you for your kind words.

Hope your hand is healing nicely now, Grandmabatty. I used Mag Sulph during lockdown to deal with a nasty abscess, good stuff.👍Enjoy your movie, I think I've seen it. Is that the one with Snake Pilskin?

Thinking of NannyG4, Doodle, Baggs and all with sorrow.
Love and prayers for YiaYia, Cornergran, Blossoming, Annsixty, Dusty and all dealing with illness and/ or chronic pain, their own or loved ones'.

Salmon for dinner tonight, I am now knitting in front of the 📺, need to finish The Wee Boy's school pullover. Still can't believe he starts Primary One a week on Friday!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

brook2704 Mon 05-Aug-24 21:19:58

Grannmarie another lovely post with everyone included, you must deserve the kitchen gold medal 🥇 🥰

Jaxjacky Mon 05-Aug-24 22:20:29

We were dreadful at quiz 🙄we’ll blame the absent team member!
We halted proceedings to watch Keely win the 800m, big applause from us all.
Allegedly our parched land will get ‘so:e rain’ tomorrow morning.
Night all.

cornergran Mon 05-Aug-24 23:10:58

Spent a good few hours in an eye hospital today. The good news is the issue seems to be quietly resolving itself, the puzzling news is the consultant has not a clue what caused it and why it’s improving. The wretched man wants heaps of tests, now why can he not just be as pleased as we were and leave well alone?

Can’t fault the care, just the long tedious waits sat in dingy corridors smile. The staff must be more than pleased to escape at the end of their shift.

Thank you granmarie, things are decidedly more cheerful here. Adjustments have been made.

Sleep well everyone. Night night.

Catterygirl Tue 06-Aug-24 00:24:36

Cornergran,
Hope all goes well with your eyesight.
I’m in recovery from both cataracts. First one has taken over 8 months and second one appears to be a week.
I’m very happy and hopeful that you will be too when things settle down.

Catterygirl Tue 06-Aug-24 00:28:03

I came here for a rest from the craziness on the main Gransnet forum.

Nannytopsy Tue 06-Aug-24 05:36:26

Morning all! I expect you are still asleep. Something upset my bladder and I have been to the loo every hour in the night. 😡 On the plus side, it will help my puffy feet! 🤣
Well done for giving us all a mention Grannmarie - you must make notes!
Corner I’m glad your eyes are sorted. Eye hospitals always seem to involve long waits.
Hope you are getting some much needed rain at night, so that you can enjoy your days!
TOYA

I am not too far away. Awaiting call from Mr S to say that he's leaving the Glasgow Royal infirmary. He seems to be running late. Fingers crosses that he can make the homebound bus in time. Back soon.

Grannmarie Tue 06-Aug-24 14:59:54

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰
I hope MrSoop had a helpful consultation at the Royal, wishing him well and a pleasant journey home.
Cornergran, you have a brilliant, positive, can- do attitude! I'm glad you got good news at the Eye hospital.
Hello 👋 and welcome, Catterygirl, this is indeed a safe haven, much needed in these difficult days.
Nannytopsy, I hope you feel better soon, drink lots and lots of fluids.

I have popped in to share happy news, if I may? DGS1, 17, has passed all his exams!!
( 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scottish results out today.) As and Bs! He phoned to let me know, he's delighted cos now he is accepted for his chosen University, which is within daily travelling distance of home. It's all we were hoping and praying for, I've been spreading the news and everyone is so pleased for him. He was a wee boy who found school difficult but he persevered and worked so hard, now he has his reward. DS1 and DDIL1 have supported and encouraged him all the way. We'll be celebrating with them all later in the week. I'm very thankful. 🙏

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday, TOYA.

annsixty Tue 06-Aug-24 15:43:15

Congratulations to your GS Grannmarie
Well done to him for all his hard work.
I am sure GP’s support went a long way to his success.
I am very, very down, life is particularly hard at present but that is no more than many of you are experiencing so kind thoughts to you all.
I got a clean bill of health at the Dentist yesterday but came home to read our Simply Food, 1 mile away is closing down, we don’t know when yet.
It seems to do well and I suspect the new lease terms are responsible.
Any shop, pub etc which closes cites the terms of a new lease are unmanageable.
Such a shame for them all.
It seems counterproductive to me as they seem to close permanently.
Oh well, such is life.

Grannmarie Tue 06-Aug-24 15:46:19

Thank you for your kind words, annsixty.
I'm so sorry you're feeling low just now, hoping and praying that things brighten up for you soon. 💐🙏

Jaxjacky Tue 06-Aug-24 15:46:26

Well done to your grandson Grannmarie 🎉🎉
Oh no cornergran I’m glad it was resolved, but I know what you mean about getting out and getting on.
Fingers crossed he’s caught the bus soop
We’ve had rain, a good four or five hours of steady, heavy drizzle, that’ll do.
Bathrooms cleaned this morning, one job off the list, I’ve just picked a large courgette and a cucumber, they hide under the leaves!

soop Tue 06-Aug-24 15:51:34

Huge congratulations to your grandson, Grannmarie. Happy news!

soop Tue 06-Aug-24 15:53:45

Catterygirl You are one of us lot. I shall be opening our new kitchen in a few moments. Please linger longer. smile

soop Tue 06-Aug-24 15:55:37

Mr Soop did catch the bus. However, it appears that a landslide at the Rest and Be Thankful will mean a traffic diversion. He'll therefore be home well after six o'clock. I am missing his company.

soop Tue 06-Aug-24 15:58:29

I have arranged a buffet for our new opening. Champagne is chilled. I've also added a few extra comfortable armchairs complete with tartan cushions. The quiet corner has a choice of soothing music to close one's eyes to listen to.

soop Tue 06-Aug-24 15:59:31

So, I have the key ready. Any moment now...off we travel to our latest, smartest, friendliest Kitchen. smile
