Grandmabatty Fri 05-Jul-24 18:59:13

Evening Kitcheners. Brook we have had showers off and on most of the day. It's also cold and I have succumbed to putting on the heating. Soop Andy's speech was very moving. I had a tear or two in my eyes.
Today has been a very lazy one because I was up a lot in the night, following the results. The upshot was, I was very tired today and gave into it. I did change the duvet cover and got all the washing done but nothing else. I've just had egg, chips and beans and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tonight I will have an early night. I'm thinking of you all.

Nannytopsy Fri 05-Jul-24 19:01:11

I was awake far too long last night, waiting for particular results to be announced. 😩
We had an amazing result in Matt Hancock’s old constituency, now joined to JoChurchill’s. We now have a Labour MP!
A visit to the hospital to meet the new consultant went well and they are going to get me on the list ASAP - probably September? That will be just 12 months on the list.
I have shortened trousers (DH) and a top (me) ready for a weekend away. We leave tomorrow late morning, once I have made a dessert to take. We shall meet DB and his family, including my first born nephew, over from New Zealand. The wine will flow!
Enjoy your weekends, if possible

Hello kitchen people.

We are settled in our cottage in Devon and it’s raining! I drove all the way down as OH isn’t fond of driving long distances) and it took over four hours. Torrential rain on the motorway so consequently the M5 was pretty slow.

Just before we left home I had a message that one of the WI ladies had died at 80 and would I circulate the news. I immediately contacted the President and asked her to do it as I was about to leave.

Have a good evening everyone. I am catching up on all the political news. We have a LibDem MP now.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 05-Jul-24 20:24:19

That’s a lovely picture of Imogen.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 05-Jul-24 20:24:33

Stunning picture of your granddaughter Jax you must be very proud.

It’s been a beautiful day here in Yorkshire thankfully as it was grandsons sports day rearranged following rain on Wednesday. A busy day for the children as it was also the summer Fayre after school. We also had little GD this afternoon as her mum is involved in the PFA and was helping set stalls up etc. I won a prize on the raffle. A luxury facial at a local salon. Hope she can work miracles 🤣

Back to the tennis now for me!

Doodle Fri 05-Jul-24 20:29:28

What a lovely photo Jaxjacky . Hope Imogen has a great time.

Redcar Fri 05-Jul-24 20:50:39

A lovely photo of Imogen jaxjacky I hope she enjoys her prom.
llfl that sounds a long journey in the rain, but worth it. Enjoy your holiday, I do hope the weather cheers up soon for you & all of us. It’s rained nearly all day here in essex, but at least I won’t have to water the garden for a day or two. I can see the weeds growing though!
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 05-Jul-24 21:11:10

A beautiful girl Jaxjacky.

Grannmarie Fri 05-Jul-24 22:17:29

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Soop, I hope your dental appointments went well and you're pleased with your hairdo!

Jaxjacky, how beautiful Imogen is, she looks so elegant in her stunning prom dress.
Thank you for your encouragement, I've exercised well today, at home and in the pool. Also iced and rested the sore knee, managed some washing and ironing with rest in between.

Grandmabatty, you've still got a lot done in spite of turning night into day.
Like most of Scotland, I woke up to a Labour MP after several years of SNP. Goodbye to my hopes of seeing Independence in my lifetime. Our area was always Labour before that.

Nice to see Urms popping up on the political thread today.👋 Very gracious.

Sounds like your DGC had a great time brook, you'll sleep well tonight!

What a pretty window and peaceful outlook, Ladyleftfieldlover. Well done on all that driving in the rain. Enjoy your holiday, I hope Nannytopsy has a good break too. I think we all need to go to visit Grandmadinosaur in Yorkshire, she's got sunshine!☀ Best wishes to all on their travels.

Wishing everyone a good weekend, thinking of all those with sorrow, illness or worries, especially about loved ones. NNGB.

Hello, is there anyone in the kitchen? It’s very quiet in here today. I’m guessing that lots of people are watching either the tennis or the football.

Very windy here today but at least the rain has stopped for the moment and the sun is out. I’ve just discovered that my shed roof is leaking and a lot of the garden tools are soaked so shall have to try to get that sorted. I’m feeling virtuous as I’ve tied up the tomato plants and taken off the side shoots, not many tomatoes on them yet. Perhaps there will be more when (if) the weather warms up.
Sausage, mash and beans for dinner, comfort food!
Have a good evening everyone, and hoping those with sadness, illness or anxieties find some solace.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 06-Jul-24 16:59:28

Hello! I’m here kitchen people.

It is windy and rainy in Devon.

OH managed to catch the top of his head on the metal French window at the holiday house. He’s quite tall and didn’t duck low enough. Lots of blood and quite a hole! I managed to stop the bleeding and put a massive plaster on his bald head.

We went out for lunch and then a walk near where we are staying.

It’s England v Switzerland now so I’m reading and he’s watching.

Have a good rest of the day.

Jaxjacky Sat 06-Jul-24 17:08:01

A very windy day with squally showers meant little was done here. The Saturday paper has been read thoroughly, crosswords kept for another day, a long phone call with a friend, we haven’t caught up for three months, so lots of rabbiting.
MrJ has gone to the pub to watch at least the first half of the football, I’m watching here, chicken and veg curry is made for later,
I hope you’ve had better weather llfl it’s quote cool here, enjoy your meet up Nannytopsy , brook knows about wine flowing!
Thank you for your comments, Imogen had a lovely time.
NannyG4 Yia Urms and Doodle are in my thoughts with any others struggling.

RosiesMaw Sat 06-Jul-24 17:22:14

Late to the party Jaxjacky but just wanted to say how beautiful and classy your DGD looked.
There was a Prom in our hotel the last night of my holiday in Suffolk and sone of the girls looked just so sophisticated, but Imogen (?) puts them to shame and with elegance and class.

NannyG4 Sat 06-Jul-24 18:26:28

Good Evening to you ALL.
Hope everyone has been able to have the best day possible under their circumstances..... Some of you certainly sound busy with families... Enjoy and Embrace!!
I'm looking after my 7 year old grandson tonight, its lovely to help out under my circumstances and children certainly bring you down to earth!!
My DH has moved into nursing home, a rocky start, so upsetting, but am hoping things will settle down in time. Have had to buy a wheelchair for him, thought the home might have told us we needed our own!?!
Fondest love to you all...... take good care and a big thankyou for all your support..... Xxx❤️💕

Grandmabatty Sat 06-Jul-24 18:54:17

NannyG4 that's hard for you. Hopefully your dh will settle down and life will be easier for you. Ladyleftfieldlover ouch! I hope your DH is ok.
Today I did a food shop and did a bit of housework but I admit I've been quite lazy again. I bought luscious apricots and will turn them into jam tomorrow. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

brook2704 Sat 06-Jul-24 19:16:54

NannyG4 sending ❤️
Goodness llfl your DHs poor head, on holiday too! I hope he’s recovered ok and enjoy your holiday
We had a lovely walk this morning along Rosemarkie Beach to Chanonry Point for some dolphin spotting. We were lucky and got to see quite a few, as always I tried to get a picture but not much luck
You’re so right *Jax! 🍷🍷 never again!!
Hoping nannytopsy is having a lovely family get together
DH is watching the footy, I can’t stand the tension!

soop Sat 06-Jul-24 19:27:15

A sunny good evening from me to all our super-special Kitcheners.

Since early this morning I've been having a house-blitz in readiness for our visitors. Hence, I am cream-crackered. No Wimbledon to speak of. No exercise bike routine. It's been polish, polish, polish and iron a mountain of laundry. Thank goodness that I do not feel duty-bound to stress myself to this extent too often. wink

I have not forgotten you lovely lot. I shall return to update you once our visitors have departed for pastures new.

I need a pot of tea. Feet up. Maybe a final set of tennis.

Goodnight and bless you. smile moon

Redcar Sat 06-Jul-24 20:07:54

Nanny G4 I hope your DH soon settles in the nursing home and that you have a quiet time tonight with your DGS. I can’t believe that you had to buy a wheelchair for your DH.
soop I’m exhausted just reading about your housework blitz! Definitely time to put your feet up. I’m still trying to put things away after the painter had decorated two bedrooms- and he finished three weeks ago! Lazy me!

hulahoop Sat 06-Jul-24 20:34:51

NannyG 4 hope all settles . We have one of my gds and grandson tonight first time in a while. Have not felt up to it when infected toe was causing a lot of pain I can finally get shoes on ,had pre-op on Thursday ready for angioplasty for abdominal blood clot .Thinking of all with troubles x

brook2704 Sun 07-Jul-24 12:24:45

Hulahoop good that you’re feeling a bit better and up to seeing your family, hope the surgery goes well
Ive been dodging the showers this morning, bits of gardening done here and there and washing in and out. I’m giving up now as we’ve just had an unexpected invite to DD2s, she’ll be wanting something doing no doubt!
NannyG4 hope you had an enjoyable time with your DGS, sending ❤️
Hope you’re not overdoing things Soop but so lovely to have family visiting - Enjoy every minute!

Grandmabatty Sun 07-Jul-24 17:39:40

Hulahoop I'm glad you are feeling better. Good luck with the surgery. Brook maybe your dd will surprise you with dinner! Soop enjoy your visitors.
I have made boeuf bourguinone in the slow cooker and it smells delicious. I also made apricot jam which is slightly darker than I expected, so I hope it doesn't taste burnt. I visited mum this afternoon and she was quite chatty. After dinner I shall do a small ironing and that'll be me. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

brook2704 Sun 07-Jul-24 18:02:04

No luck with dinner grandmabatty although I did get a coffee She just wanted help with packing a few things up and to look at another house with her - oh and DH to run a few things to the tip …
I bet your boeuf bourguinone is delicious, well done with that and the jam making too , I wish I was more of a cook. We’re just having quick and easy salmon and salad soon
Have a lovely evening all x
