Angela Rayner ghastly trouser suit
(1001 Posts)OMG the Deputy PM looked a fright walking along Downing Street this afternoon.
Showwaddywaddy called and want their suit back!! 🤣
She looks like she either has no bra on or a badly fitting one. Her boobs are almost down to the waistband of her trousers.

I have never expected to have my posts noticed. But I can tell when people are being studiously ignored. I bet you can too.
I can't. I can see when a post hasn't been replied to or one that sticks out like a sore thumb in a bunch of others because the others are about something else, but I cannot tell if something is being "studiously ignored" because I can't mind read.

Or frozen out and/or discussed via PM.
How does one know if something is being discussed via PM if the PMs are not to oneself?
And why shouldn't people discuss things by PM?
The complaints I'm seeing here seem rather paranoid.

*As for the kittens reference as someone new to Gransnet at that time, perhaps you didn't understand what was happening Doodledog.*
No, I probably didn't, as I said, I was finding my way around. I still think that deciding to deliberately change the subject, chat across people and ignore posts that don't join in the chat has Mean Girls vibes. It did then, and it does now. If that's just me, then fine - I've said my piece, which is all I wanted to do. I'm not looking for a fight, I just resent being told what to post.
I thought the latest 'chit-chat' was an attempt by posters to take the 'heat' out of the thread. But then I am pretty clueless about some things at times so might have got it completely wrong.
I understand your reference to 'talking about kittens' - is that what you think is happening here? A genuine question because I really don't know if posters are filibustering or trying to lighten the mood.
When you're actually physically with people you can read the room and you know if someone is deliberately changing the subject during, or after, a heated debate - and why. But I do find it difficult to determine that on here, partly because so often threads meander all over the place. Also, I tend not to look at posters' names (unless replying directly) so don't know their 'history' (with one or two exceptions of course).
The thread meandered naturally but then it really did help to lighten the mood Dickens but that doesn’t mean that posters who want to say something about AR or her trousersuit can’t go ahead and comment.I was enjoying the chat about fashion in any case, and the thread was moved into the chat category.

Exactly this.
Getting back to Angela's trousers, I know they're probably fashionable at the moment but if I wore them, I'd probably catch my foot in them and go flying.
Besides which, it is said if you can remember wearing them the first time round, (1970s) don't wear them when they come back into fashion.

I watched a young mum on the school run recently, walking very proudly (and carefully!) on her platform shoes.
I then realised it was half a century ago that I wore them 😖

True for us I guess - AR would not have worn them first-time round though!
The shade of green totally suited her but I know that all those pleats around the waist only suit long and skinny with totally flat stomach.
No, she wouldn't.
Although she's only a bit older than my youngest DC who I can remember wore very wide-legged jeans when she was younger, probably late 1990s. That must have been the second time around for me!
I can’t believe we’re still talking about Angela Rayner’s trousers!
I think on a long thread people still want to come in and make a comment on the O/P, we cant "force"people to read 35 pages....
(not that you were suggesting it maddyone it just popped in as a thought)

^Do you not have relatives to visit, gardens to attend to, or cakes to bake? Very sad state of affairs^
Some gransnetters may not have any of the above and it’s our business how we spend our Sunday afternoons.
I’m so glad you spent an afternoon basking in fund raising glory. I helped somebody unpack boxes in their new flat this morning. Does that count on the smugometer?
I missed Tuamis post, just catching up with some pages now.
Yes, I agree merlotgran.
Not all of us are fit and able to do virtuous fund-raising, cakebaking, gardening and our family may be thousands of miles always so we're unable to visit without an arduous journey.
So glad you are able to do all those things, Tuami. Make the most of it, as many of us did, you never know what may be waiting round the corner for you.
Most of the comments on the thread are about that trouser suit, not criticism of Ms Rayner herself.
away not always
No of course Wyllow.
I read some of the thread and contributed yesterday, but left the thread alone today, and then noticed it was still going strong all day today.
Who would have thought Angela Rayner’s trousers (or anyone’s trousers really) would merit so much discussion?
I know! 💁

*Do you not have relatives to visit, gardens to attend to, or cakes to bake?*
Nope.
My relatives all hate me, I find gardening boring, and cooking to me is opening a tin of beans.

Well, I've just come back from an afternoon tea at a local manor house to raise money for the RNLI. I am feeling virtuous and am also having a good laugh whilst sipping my cuppa at the truly sad contretemps of some of my fellow G'netters who continue to feed this pitiful thread. Fascinating insight into the fact that 'some' having nothing better to do with their Sunday afternoon than bathe in vitriol. Do you not have relatives to visit, gardens to attend to, or cakes to bake? Very sad state of affairs.
No not sad, no gardens, no relatives to visit. I live in a nursing home,

I often think of you in your nursing home and hope you're well looked after there.
Is there a garden where you can go outside, weather permitting?
This is only page 9 for me. If it bothers you, you could have more posts per page Wyllow3 - then you wouldn't be on page 35.
Just a thought.

Yes, it's crazy!
But I do remember similar threads from when I joined GN that went on for ages about cushions, socks and other random things. I thought it was quite funny and joined in because it was all harmless. Also sometimes useless information can be interesting or jog fond memories, as on this thread.
I'm going away today for a couple of nights, but will check back if I get a moment.
The thread could even reach the magic 1000!
Where are you off to Joseann ? It’s a bit chilly just now so be sure to wear trousers, but not wide ones or the wind may blow you down the road🤭
Come back soon.
