Hong Kong. too late now
Arranging a Lasting Power of Attorney online
What "back then" inconvenience would annoy today's youngsters?
I would have loved to visit the Antarctic but for various reasons it is too late for me now. Another place is Canada, I think it is so beautiful there. Are there any places you would have loved to visit?
Norway was on my ‘wish list’ for many years but we finally got there a couple of years pre Covid. It was wonderful, I loved it there.
On the reverse side, I have never wanted to go to the USA and never have been there. Another one I wasn’t interested in was India though I know many people who love it.
Hong Kong. too late now
My dream was to go to Venice. We're fortunate to have been four times. It lived up to all my expectations and more. I would go back in a heartbeat.
If I could have visited anywhere, I would have visited Mauritius. My grandfather was born there and told many a tale when I was small. Out of my price range though.
I would have loved to have gone to India. One Christmas, the first of my Christmas gifts from my DH that I opened was a guide book to India. I fully expected one of his other gifts to be airline tickets to Delhi, but no, he just thought that I’d like to learn a bit more about India. He didn’t fancy going, so we never went. I’ve been to the USA a few times, travelling around, and also to New York. I really enjoyed it. We did a fair bit of travelling in Europe, but never in the Scandinavian countries. I have caring commitments now, so not likely to be travelling too far, unfortunately.
I love to travel and sorry but have to disagree with Monica about two weeks not being enough. It’s certainly been enough for me and less too in certain circumstances. I’ve never yet found anywhere that I’d rather live but I’m more than happy with visiting. Latterly I’m happier with warmth as the arthritis gets more intense. So will choose destinations with that in mind. Machu Pichu is still on the cards.
I’ve travelled quite a bit - more so since I retired. I still have a desire to visit the Baltic states. Hope to do this trip in the next year or two. And one place I would never ever go again is the Isle of Wight with Daish coach tours and staying in the Daish hotel there. Just a dreadful trip - miserable and unclean accommodation - awful tasting poor quality food, and uninterested staff with the exception of the wait staff in the dining g room who worked nonstop and cheerfully even though the food they served was tasteless and overcooked.
Really want to visit Norway. Wouldn't go to Dubai if you paid me. The Benidorm for nouveau riche chavs imo.
I omitted Cuba, and Vancouver.
I’m very lucky to have visited quite a few places, but I would like to visit (though it’s unlikely now, but never say never), are Canada, Iceland and The Norwegian fjiords.
I’m not interested in visiting very hot, busy places - India and Egypt are 2 examples. I’ve never been interested in going to Australia, though I have flown over it, if that counts 😂.
Mostly travelled in Europe which is lovely, but now realise there are other places still, further away, that I want to see.
Not interested in US Australia Africa Canada, but woukd love to visit Vietnam, Cambodia Thailand, Malaysia, also South America if that’s possible. The few far off places we have visited latterly all with different cultures and languages appeal to the adventurous person I like to think I still might be and I found india Bali Cuba excitingly different.
We couldn't afford long haul travel for most of our lives, and now we probably could stretch to it, we are getting too old for long flights and very hot weather.
Still a tiny bit hope dwells within
Have been lucky enough to have travelled to many places. Missed out on Jerusalem/Bethlehem as there was a surge of trouble there and so we cancelled the trip. Machu Picchu was always on the list but never quite made it and more recently would have liked to go to Antarctica but wouldn't want to go on my own now.
Love the USA. Like many people going on holiday we avoid the tourist areas. We have been to the deep south, route 66, the grand canyon ,but also waculla springs, the national parks,Dauphin Island, silver sands, Tennessee , Seaside,Avery Island as well as Washington, New York, and New Orleans. The food is fantastic, the people lovely and the scenery outstanding. Really don't judge a country by its movies, real people live there too
We can only judge anywhere we have never been from a distance, but as my travel opportunities are closing tight I don’t have the luxury of time.
I find places with different cultures the most interesting and like history of more than a couple of hundred years. I like to be in a place where the people speak a different language and has different food and customs.
Each to her own.
Dubai is ok. We stayed there for a week and found the people very friendly. Very, very hot though. It is amazing what they have done with the desert, puts Australia to shame. I wouldn’t go again but it was worth seeing.
I would like to see more of Thailand. We have been but only briefly, to Bangkok and Koh Samui.
I never had much interest in travelling till I was 67 and found myself and hubby more comfortably off than we imagined we would be, with daughters both helped on the housing ladder. We had spent summers touring western Europe (and some of Switzerland) with our touring caravan and once been to Florida, but that was it. So at 67 and 72 we went on a Med cruise and I felt in love with cruising. Never imagined that I would. Two World Cruises later (one a bargain price due to Covid) and I am hoping we can afford another to some different areas. S America is sadly off the agenda due to Yellow Fever, but the two World Cruises both had to change itinerary so we never saw Sri Lanka where DH had worked years ago.
Whilst I would love to see the Arctic it is too cold for me.
I have not been able to travel very much in this life because of my own and my daughter's ill health. She was bedridden for twelve years and I only had two weekends away during these years, near to our home in London. There are many places I would like to have seen and I feel envious. But I also accept.
My daughter got a little better and has been able to have short holidays in Europe with her very supportive partner, with help for the disabled traveller and resting a lot. To see her do that is a joy I never thought to have.
We have also been able to relocate to my home in Scotland and we have had short local holidays here. It is such a joy to see the sea and the hills after so many years never seeing either.
For those who may not have traveled much for any reason, and be reading this thread, I think seeing less can mean you enjoy what you can see more.
I'd love to see Scotland again, but it won't happen now.
I've never seen Cumbria, which I would have liked to, and other places in the UK.
Abroad, well, India, Borneo, and the Barcelona, and Lake Garda.
I would never want to go to Las Vegas, or the tourist parts of America, nor Dubai, or anywhere like that.
I would've loved to have hired a Winnebago and toured across Canada, to late now though sad but true. I wouldn't want to go to India or any other Asian countries either not that there not beautiful but the unsanitary condtions I just couldn't risk it 🤷🏻♀️
No to previous USSR, Africa, India, China, Japan, S America, Central America
Yes to Europe, Scandinavia, parts of N America
Have been to parts of USA, parts of Australia
Sort of fancy cruising, but aspects of it deter me, not least the cost
boheminan
I'd like to visit Northern Scotland. I wouldn't want to go abroad - anywhere.
Please come boheminan but not just now, it’s freezing cold and pouring! I love living here but when I visit England I realise how much I miss it, England that is. I’d love to visit Antarctica, Iceland, Norway. DH doesn’t really want to travel anymore 😢

What a lovely positive outlook Chaitriona. I love your last line. Welcome back to Scotland.

Did you do that trip to Leningrad with the school? I did it with my school in 1966 via Berlin , Moscow, Leningrad, Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen arriving home the day we win the World Cup. I was 15 !
A place I want to visit is Argentina to dance the tango plus go across Canada by train.
I spent a month in Leningrad in 1973 as part of my college languages course. An amazing experience that I feel so lucky to have had. Then we had 2 days in St Petersburg as part of a Baltic cruise in late 2019. Again we were very fortunate as it wouldn’t be possible now. The changes in the city and its culture were immense. Our guide for the two days was a lovely young student who was very bold when making fun of Putin. I do hope she’s okay.
i have never been abroad but i always wanted to visit the pyramids, they have amazed me since i was a child, the problem i have is i don't like the heat, even in the uk summer....well scotland, i stay in when i can during the summer, but on the plus side i don't use any heating in the winter.
norway is lovely ,forests, hills, lakes that go on and on!My DIL is canadian, last year i visited, i found it a vast place ,lots of same views, my dil who lives here prefer the uk scenery, go figure.
