Different wet stuff for Madeleine 🥂- happy birthday celebrations 🥳

Some sewing 🧵 alterations for me as I bought a gorgeous jacket from Klass sale but the pocket buttons draw attention to my embonpoint and my need for that disappeared decades ago…🫣. I shall reinstall them in the cuffs!

Off to see Horizon with the delicious Kevin Costner this evening after a pensioner’s special fish supper in Conwy - the only way I could persuade Mr PG to sit through 3 hrs of me lusting after another man…😂

Good morning from s somerset, it might well be a nice dry day today

First project today is to dig up the last of my potatoes, I had a lot of charlottes from a sq m. I have also ordered a small amount of seed to sow next, a green manure, which I will chop and cover before it flowers. Also more blueberry picking, I will end up with at least 5kg in my freezer, a very worth-while crop as I use them daily, all year. I am very grateful to the bumble bees. It is very much give and take in my garden

I still need to get on with sewing but pottering is taking precedence as will be some outdoor exercise today. Another box to pack for ds, more wood carving equipment, I am absolutely delighted that he is so pleased to be learning such a lovely new hobby. I will still retain enough to dabble in this fine art myself

The potatoes have frozen very well, blanched and left to dry first. I will do more today, if I have excess after making rocket soup

Good morning from a grey Bristol. Not much rain forecast, though the temperatures are still below those desired!
I didn’t go to my outdoor taichi, but stayed in and did some sewing, also watched a zoom class on making a jersey top.
I made two lemon/date tea loaves for today and tomorrow, using the oven to have pizza for dinner.
The evening PCC meeting went well, with many productive discussions.
Today, after morning prayers, I have the complex coffee morning. In the afternoon, my reading group. We’re reading “the lamplighters” but Emma Stonex - a very intriguing story of three lighthouse keepers who all disappeared on the same shift in 1970s. No clue to the event. Worth a read.
Hope the weather holds as I have washing to dry!

Good morning, I haven’t looked to see what the weather’s doing here in south Glos, I slept badly and fidgeted all night. I have no idea why 🙄
Yesterday I tidied my craft room, I haven’t done any painting etc for weeks, my mojo has evaporated so I had a good tidy up in the forlorn hope that it would reappear.
DH spent six hours inflating his ruddy kayak in the living room so neither the dog nor I could move (it’s 14’ long) , eventually the dog and I went out in the pouring rain to escape.
It’s his 75 year old man crisis purchase, I honestly have given up trying to work out his mind.
He’s used it twice, he has grand ambitions that are quite frankly scary - he’s never kayaked before in his life but thinks he knows it all because he reads about kayaking online 🫣. What can I do? 🤷🏼‍♀️
The ADCs can’t get through to him either.

Anyway, early dog walk today then I hope to spend the morning tidying up in the garden, my plants have been thoroughly battered by the wind and rain so need sorting out. I’m hoping that the washing will dry too.

Had a good long chat with DS last night - first real conversation I’ve had with him since his recent holiday. Writers group at the library this afternoon and a bit of shopping while I’m at the mall.

We are off to Agatha Christie’s holiday house near Dartmouth today. We will have lunch there and get back for the football.

Compton Fishacre was an interesting house yesterday, shame it rained constantly! There was a secondhand book ‘shed’ there and we bought half a dozen books between us.

Good morning from Malta where we are in for another scorcher! I’m not complaining, I love summer.

Once again, thank you for your lovely comments about the boys. I apologise for going on about them so much.

Yesterday’s shopping trip was successful and I managed to buy a new fan, a very large umbrella for my yard and a couple of other bits. The assistant was a lovely young man from Serbia who could not have been more helpful and it made such a difference.

On the way home, whom should I see turning left at the roundabout where I was about to turn right but DD3 with the boys on board! I promptly followed them thinking they were going home but soon realised they were on their way to my house. DD3 got a lecture from me about not using her rear view mirror enough as she had no idea I was behind her!😂

They spent a happy couple of hours then left me to the tennis which took up the rest of the day.

This morning I am going to pick the boys up from nursery with DD3. I haven’t seen it yet. They are only going for two hours a day this week but next week will go from 8 until 1.30.

grandMattie you certainly fill up your days with so much. I don’t know how you do it, it sounds exhausting.
Thank you for the advice re geraniums, they do well in the heat but the last ones I had were destroyed by something eating them. No idea what. I didn’t get to the garden centre yesterday but will ask when I do get there.

Good morning from a sunny day in Cornwall. I must get out, have never stayed in for 12 days before 😳, so will take the opportunity of dry pavements for my crutches. A constructive chat with my doctor yesterday, a humble 40-year-old mother of four with an old-fashioned approach of following up patients and getting to know them. She's already rebooked me next month for a discussion on my migraine treatment. She suffers with them too.

Peeked at my scar yesterday (it was allowed, don't tell me off 🤣🤣), very neat, good tidy knifemanship. Now I must go out on my patio with a coffee and plan today's escapade.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dry-but not for long. It feels really cold too. RosesandLilac that sounds really difficult for you. I must admit, I would hate having a kayak in my living room too. Bellasnana I love hearing about your boys. We could do with some of your sun and warmth here in Scotland. Pantglas enjoy Kevin and your fish and chips.
Yesterday was a successful childcare day. I took the boys to soft play for opening time and let them loose. I've always been a bit unsure about it as my experience last summer wasn't great. However this was a bigger venue and quiet at nine o'clock. Quickly dgs1 made friends with twins and they ran about daft. Dgs2 loved following them, laughing loudly. He was fearless and quite happy with the freedom. Ninety minutes of running around while I had a coffee. In the afternoon dgs2 slept for nearly three hours while dgs1 pulled weeds and wielded his rake until the rain started when we withdrew indoors and he played on his iPad.
Today I'm going nowhere. The chaos in the village has reached epic proportions with most roads closed, extra traffic lights because of a burst water main and enormous machinery everywhere. The weather doesn't look great either. So I shall potter about the house. I need to phone the hospital to change an appointment day but that's all on my to-do list so far. Salad for dinner. Watermelon and feta. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a brightish Torbay.

Although France is only an hour ahead, we seem to be taking a while to adjust to BST! Now there’s a misnomer!!

Last night I was on Front of House duty at our theatre for a very funny performance of Stepping Out by Alan Ayckbourn. It was good to see younger people excelling in their roles in this fast moving farce. DH enjoyed watching it, too, and we had the usual convivial time in the bar with the performers afterwards.

Some of our theatre members volunteer as guides at Greenway, Ladyleftfieldlover; the weather forecast looks brighter for these parts today so I hope you enjoy your visit there.

Good morning from a bright, dry mid Essex. Fingers crossed today will be drier than yesterday. DD2 will be here this morning but will be working, so I’ll have company for a couple of hours, but won’t interrupt her work.
I have a blood test this morning so will walk to the surgery for that. A food delivery this afternoon, but nothing else planned for the day. Hopefully my back will allow me to do a little gardening.

Not much happening here we have both been so tired after our few days away last week to Wiltshire . We had planned a day out today but decided front hedge needs urgent attention and also the garden at DD2’s house. So we will potter again.

Good morning from Sefton where it is dull, dry for now, & a touch warmer. An enjoyable trip out yesterday to the Van Gogh Experience. I think it is aimed at people like me who know nowt about art Hollyst. I definitely don't have your artist's eye. Note to self, revisit local galleries & try to learn more.
A busy day today following usual plan of exercise class, Pilates, nursery pickup & childcare, scratch tea & slump on sofa in front of tv, sleep.

Good morning from another dull and cloudy Black Country,

Busy day yesterday. Decided Mum's freezer needed defrosting, so that took a while as it was thick with ice. Then we went out for lunch, then onto Lidl. Popped to DD's school as I thought I would give her a lift home as she still cannot drive, and Mum lives near her school.

The evening Memory cafe was good fun, there was a singer and the food was Lasagne and salad. Mum finds it difficult to follow any conversation as it is so noisy with all the chattering. At least it was an evening out for her. I arrived home around 9,30, at least the traffic is light at that time.

This morning I am meeting a friend for coffee. I am sure cake will be involved at some point too!

My DS’s children absolutely love soft play too Grandmabatty, I find the noise a bit overwhelming.

Yesterday DH saw the surgeon who will be doing the knee replacement op a fortnight today. I must start reading up on what to expect afterwards.

We had so many volunteers in the shop yesterday that two of them went home, I spent my shift processing donations which I quite enjoyed.

Housework today and probably a bit of ironing.

Good morning from what I would describe is a dreich day here on the east coast of Fife. The weather can be so cantankerous. I think it might rain, but then who really knows. I’m off out today to collect something very tasty from an ice cream parlour and you’ll never guess what it is and no it’s not what you think, on my return there will be work carried out in my
bathroom, the floor will receive the rest of the grouting. My big problem for today is, what do I wear? Jumper or short sleeve blouse with a cardigan? I’ll tell you tomorrow.
