Awful tragedy

I saw earlier that 3 women had been found dead and police were looking for a named person in his mid twenties.

It now transpires that the women were a mother and her two adult daughters and they were the wife and daughters of racing commentator, John Hunt. Apparently they were shot with a crossbow.

I’m so shocked and can’t begin to imagine their terror and the shock and grief of Mr Hunt. Just appalling. I hope the person responsible is caught very quickly.

It’s truly horrific. That poor man. I think he has a third daughter. Police are looking for a 26y old man, Kyle somebody or other and urging the public not to approach him if recognised but to call 999.

Bumface Wed 10-Jul-24 16:35:48

They know who did it, a man called Kyle Clifford. He is still at large. I hope the police catch him soon.

I can't imagine how horrifying it must have been for the three women.

It must be terrible for John Hunt and his other daughter.

It’s just such a tragic story. I’ve just read that the man they are looking for is the ex boyfriend of one of the daughters.
So very sad.

Urmstongran Wed 10-Jul-24 16:44:45

He’s ex-army and security. A dangerous man.
Frightening if you live round there I imagine till he’s caught.

Urmstongran Wed 10-Jul-24 16:47:36

Plus …
Suspected crossbow killer Kyle Clifford’s brother is serving life for murder. Bradley Clifford beat a moped rider to death for causing minor damage to his Ford Mustang.

Such horror

I was just about to suggest that. now it is fact.

Am I being blind but there seems to have been an enormous rise in the number of men pursuing and killing ex girl friends or partners.

In home domestic violence has always been with us, but this rise in the numbers pursuing and killing ex girlfriends and ex-partners seems to be a 21st century crime

Bumface Wed 10-Jul-24 16:58:57

It seems that women are not safe anywhere. Every time something like this happens there is a great deal of talk from the police about "Moving forwards we have learned from our mistakes" but they never do.

Near where I live a girl was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. She had reported him to the police several times and all they did was prosecute her for wasting police time. This was quite recent.

I think men killing their female partners has been consistent for a number of years at 2 a week I think.
Vile dangerous man.
Those poor women.

Urmstongran Wed 10-Jul-24 18:17:37

He’s been caught. Good.
Hiding in a cemetery.

Iam64 Wed 10-Jul-24 18:46:24

That’s a relief urmston.
Yes Galaxy, two women each week, the greatest danger period is when the woman tries to end the relationship.
Jess Phillips will add the names of these latest nurders to the list she reads in Parliament.
I hope Starmer keeps the focus on protecting women and childrenn

Glad he has been caught. Injured but not by the police and receiving treatment. What a waste of three lives and for what purpose.

Aveline Wed 10-Jul-24 18:50:11

Just a horrific situation. That poor man. That poor remaining sister.

DamaskRose Wed 10-Jul-24 18:53:09

Awful beyond words.

TerriBull Wed 10-Jul-24 18:58:36

Really, really terrible. There seem to be far too many who can't come to terms with a relationship that's run its course and then resort to the most vindictive of terror tactics.

So sorry for the women, their lives cut short by a monster and for the father and sister who must be traumatised and grief stricken.

Juniewoonie Wed 10-Jul-24 19:06:12

What a terrible, awful tragedy. This is the sort of crime that being jailed for life is a just sentence and life ought to mean life.

Yes I agree; violence is meted out to ex- girlfriends, partners and wives, sometimes relatives as a punishment.
Very seriously, how do you rehabilitate such men?

Callistemon213 Wed 10-Jul-24 19:22:51

Very seriously, how do you rehabilitate such men?

I'm not sure they can ever be rehabilitated although they could be clever and manipulative enough to fool a Psrole Board,

Oh thank goodness.

I was hoping he'd killed himself.

There is another discussion under way about reducing the prison population, and I would hope that those committing these so-called crimes of passion would never be released.

Galaxy I was thinking specifically of men pursuing ex-partners, rather than killing within a relationship. I agree that has been there since time began.

valdali Wed 10-Jul-24 19:29:12

His brother is in prison for murder too? I wonder, nature or nuture there, it can't be coincidence can it? So tragic.

tickingbird Wed 10-Jul-24 19:30:05

He’s injured and not by police so no doubt self inflicted as is so often the case.

I can’t stop thinking about those poor women.

I wasn’t.
Too quick and I’m sure that Mr. Hunt and his remaining daughter (so sad to think of them tonight) would want to hear the ‘why’ of it all. Then deprive him of his liberty for LIFE.
