Grandmabatty, I do remember Emergency Ward 10 but rather vaguely as I would only have seen it at other people’s houses- our tv would only receive BBC. My hospital stay was an experience but I was more than relieved to be there and receiving treatment. It is terrible that staff have to work in these circumstances. I hope there will be improvements over the next few years.

hollysteers, I can’t believe you are still in the same position. It’s good your daughter is able to support you.

Grammaretto, I hope you get treatment for that dog bite. A dog that has bitten more than once needs, at the very least, to be muzzled when out. DH and I would love to have visited the pottery exhibition - I saw it advertised when we were in East Lothian in June but knew we would be ‘down south’ all July.

Good morning from a very hot N Surrey. Waitrose only taking cash...which I had luckily...due to the world wide IT outage. Daughter travelling to London couldnt buy a ticket. Machines not working.
Litterpicker my daughter was born in a broom cupboard as the hospital had a fire.
I have decided to make a yoghourt drink like Lassi or Turkish aryan. With yoghourt, water and salt. Cooling for this hot weather.
Keep out of the midday sun everyone who has it.

Litter picker what a terrible situation for you. I'm glad you are improving now. Grammaretto definitely get it seen to if it is swollen. Hollysteers poor you. I really hope it can be resolved soon. It feels like Emergency Ward Ten here! Does anyone remember that? Before Casualty or Angels.

Great walk along the canal with my walking group, lovely chat with some new people. Then a drink outside at the pub by canal side. The resident Heron was sitting on his/her usual branch.

Lovely to sit outside last night eating. We had a BBQ, summer has arrived!

No real plans today, white washing on, then a wander into town. MrJ is on a cycle ride with his club. Then we are BBQ'ing Mackerel tonight.

I was bitten on my hand by a rescue dog at our community café yesterday. We were sitting outside and he suddenly snapped at my hand which bled a little but has since swollen up.

I called 111 and was told to take a paracetamol and check I am up to date with tetanus jags. That took at least half an hour.

As a result I had a sleepless night and should be doing my shift today at the café.

I can see if someone can swap with me.

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. I hardly need to say that the sun is shining!

I have been out of circulation for a few days as a UTI escalated and I ended up in hospital with acute pylonephritis. If only I had Marydoll’s or Mizuna’s gifts for telling a story! DH had called 111 for me on Sunday morning and after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing a ‘non-urgent ambulance was called. They arrived within minutes as they had just started their shift and had been parked by the sea enjoying the sunshine while waiting for their first call. As my temperature was high and I had passed out briefly, it was agreed I needed to go to A&E. Once there I was seen amazingly quickly and put on IV antibiotics and fluids. From then on I felt as though I was in one of these tv reports 🤣. I was cluttering up the increasingly busy A&E treatment area so my trolley was wheeled out to the corridor, from where, I assumed, I would be transferred to a ward. That happened 31 hours later! I did get a bed at some stage though I have to say the modern trolleys are more comfortable than you might think. In the meantime I dozed, listened to my audiobook, had my bp etc checked at regular intervals and watched the endless human drama going on around me. The staff were incredible - endless patience, kindness and humour. Eventually, at midnight on my second night I had the summons to a ward. When I got there it turned out there was actually no free bay, but my bed was parked in the middle of the ward. Needless to say I was in everyone’s way. I felll asleep eventually and woke to find my bed had been pushed into the window bay at the top end of the ward, I was expecting to be discharged with oral antibiotics but the doctor came and decided I needed more time on the IV. In the meantime the lovely nurse in charge had found me a ‘quieter’ space - a little used, windowless treatment room. I immediately messaged DH to say, ‘I’m moving to the broom cupboard!’. Meals delivery staff were directed to ‘the lady in the cupboard’. I quite miss it all now that I’m back home 😊

I will try to catch up on everyone’s news later. I did see that Hollysteers has been having an awful time with the abcess/tooth extraction - I hope that is sorted asap.

Mick, I hope your bowels settle down and you have a good visit with you sister and her husband.

Cloudless sky and warm already so it looks as if today will be summer - the forecast for tomorrow is for grey skies and showers again. Am still trying to decide what to feed seven of us tomorrow evening and realise how out of practice I am. I used to take such things in my stride, but not now.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞🌞 Northampton. Have to go to Sainsbury's, but will not be over-exerting myself.

Got back from DD's mid-morning yesterday, then after a shower, quick lunch (and a load of washing) went out to my friend's talk about life after a transplant. Had never heard the full story before, and she certainly went through a lot before finally receiving her transplant and enjoying a new life, now 12 years on. Made us realise how important it is to make family aware of our wishes should we wish to donate.

Frantic WhatsApp activity yesterday morning as our dance teacher informed everyone that she has Covid and cancelled all classes.

Then yesterday evening waited in vain for my Sainsbury's delivery to arrive - except it didn't! When it was an hour late I phoned them up only to find that a broken down delivery van was the culprit. They couldn't offer me another delivery until Saturday, so I declined the offer and cancelled the order.
Hence today's trip to Sainsbury's and M&S Food with my trolley, having since pared my list down to the essentials.

A load of towels to hang out first, then when I get back shall sit out in the garden again to read. Came home yesterday with two books DD lent me, but have just started my library book, so will save them for later.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle though the clouds are gathering....We only had one day of heatwave, if you can call it that, it reached a dizzying 22°C the day before yesterday.
I hope you are improved today Mick and that your health issues are soon sorted.

Yesterday morning I was busy playing catch up with the housework, in the afternoon, I went to a U3A talk about a notorious 19C burglary here in Carlisle. The speaker, a local historian and author, was most entertaining and informative.

Today, I shall finish off the laundry and start ironing plus clean the bathrooms. I also need to get to the post box with a birthday card.

Good morning from another lovely Suffolk day. Off to the hairdresser’s this morning where I shall hear all about the goings on in our local market town. My lovely hairdresser is the warmest friendliest and most talkative person I know!

DH and I plan to take the dog to the beach but will probably wait until late afternoon. There is a lovely pub in the village with a large garden so we may have an early dinner there.

I accidentally witnessed a very sad event yesterday afternoon, through my small side window. I am feeling upset and will elaborate in future. It was a natural event

All I could do yesterday was sit in the shade with a mug of tea and some simple sewing. Yesterday morning was fully taken up, frustratingly, with firefox issues, a very common sudden conflict so I could not get onto any site. I have now changed my default browser but need to find all my passwords. Panic and frustration all morning and then sad the rest of the day

I will be re-setting my mind today, I have a `health` room

We had the most delightful day with our girls yesterday, despite the constant drizzle.
Dollie had been hoping to go on the beach and was so disappointed.
We stopped off at the Garden centre at Gourock for lunch and a browse. There are fish, chicken, rabbits and guinea pigs there, which delighted the girls.
Foolishly we decided to let Babydoll walk, but she kept wanting to sit down on the wet ground! Poor papa was getting so flustered. I couldn't help, because I had the pram and my stick. How on earth did ever I manage with three under five on my own?
DH and I have decided not to have any more children after the shenanigans of changing Babydoll in a very smelly disabled loo. 😉
I will spare you the description, but it took the two of us to change her. She alternated between wriggling and arching her back, not a good idea when her nappy was awful.
She is a very determined wee girl!! 😁

Later, we drove up the coast to Saltcoats, so that we could visit our favourite traditional baker's, Dollie could ride her scooter and go to the amusements. Much to her excitement, I had saved up two pence coins for her to use on the waterfall game. A lovely lady beside her gave her additional coins, which was very kind of her. It was the best £1 } have ever spent.
In the baker's I bought cakes for all my children, as I would be seeing them yesterday. They were of course delighted with their goodies.

A bonus was that DS2's house was on the route home, which meant we saved the twenty minute journey, we usually do in heavy traffic. DIL's sister was there and she told Dollie that she could have a play date with her daughter, who has become friends with Dollie,
Dollie said that this had been the best day ever.

On arriving home, I saw a carrier bag under my car. Inside was a rose bush and a box of very wet luxury chocolates, It turned out my friend had left them as a belated birthday treat for me. 😍
She phoned later and told me that my friend across the road had Covid. ( She kept that quiet,) She was supposed to come with the Ebay queen and I on Monday, but didn't. She has been behaving quite oddly and we are concerned.
That was a lucky escape, for she must have been unknowingly infectious.
I have been unable to book my postponed Covid booster, now that I am well enough to have it.
Consequently I am anxious when I hear about the rise in Covid cases, due to the fact that I am immunosupressed and my new medication makes me extremely vulnerable.
I will need to be very careful.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Rough night with cramp after a day out shopping. Very pleased with some navy trousers I found at the outlet centre.
Today DD1 and I have some food shopping to do and then I will see DGS5 in as usual. DD and family are joining her brother and sister tonight to eat out, we have declined and will have a quiet evening.

Good morning all and we’re in for another fine day by the sea. Temperature just right for me with a little sea breeze. I’m so glad we’re here as it’s hotter ‘at home’.

Yesterday we had fish and chips eaten in the sea wall in Aldeburgh. So delicious! The seagulls are huge there, picking up scraps along the beach. You get fined £250 for feeding them.
Our friends on the camp site had a large almond croissant taken from their table by a cheeky one.

We visited our other pals in their accommodation which is perfect for them with amenities for disabled. It’s set in the middle of nowhere, so peaceful and relaxing. We sat in the garden and watched the sunset. Idyllic! 🌅.

Not sure what’s on the cards for today . We’ll walk the dog and see what pans out.

Morning from a sunny south east. Getting ready for DD and DS and their families coming to stay - as we’re all going to a wider family party tomorrow which also happens to be my birthday. A rare event for my family to be here at the same time, as it’s quite a long journey for both. So a bbq tonight and cold dishes already prepared to take tomorrow.

Good morning everyone from a warm and sunny Essex. It took ages to go to sleep last night, but not surprising really as I hadn’t done a lot during the day.
Couldn’t find any suitable trainers yesterday but bought some Converse trainers anyway. Will keep looking for the perfect pair of proper trainers.
I’m going to DD1’s today as I’m looking after one of the DGDs and the dog for the night while DD1 & her DH go to a gig.
I hope today is better for you madeleine and that all cars pass their MOTs without any problems.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from what promises to be another warm South Yorkshire day. Mick I hope your health issue is just a blip. Take it easy and enjoy the company of your family.
It was very hot yesterday. Had a good long ramble round the woods with the walking group. We stopped only to admire a lovely pond full of dragon flies and bull rushes. There are 367 acres of woodland and we never go the same way twice. Called in on DD for lunch and when I got back into the car I could hardly put my hands on the steering wheel it was so hot.
Today is my last day of volunteering at school until after the school holidays. DD and the menfolk will be round for a meal later, bringing their Guinea pig and all his paraphernalia to stay while they’re away. It’s going to be an interesting two weeks!

Morning all from our last day in a cloudy Helsinki. We are flying home today to 30 degrees!

We have enjoyed our holiday. I have always wanted to visit Helsinki and it lived up to my expectations. I had salmon soup for lunch yesterday, which was so delicious.
