Yes, they can be sometimes!

JudyBloom Tue 30-Jul-24 07:19:18

are everything!

Without them where would we be? They are the bedrock of society and those struggling should get more support.

I must confess I’m feeling a bit hurt. DIL’s family organised a baby shower and didn’t invite me. I was under the impression that we got on quite well. What do others think. I’m trying to just let it go.

I understand why you're hurt Tallulah but try and let it go and look forward to being a GM flowers.

Do you get invited to other things?

Is your dil not from the Uk, in which case things may be done differently?

If there isnt a good reason, I would find that hurtful as well.

Yes, that's hurtful. Do you see your DIL at other times? Was her mum invited to the baby shower?

pascal30 Tue 30-Jul-24 14:38:26

I'd be hurt.. I dislike non-inclusivity.. it doesn't bode well.. can you ask her?

NotSpaghetti Tue 30-Jul-24 14:50:19

I would see it as a "lucky escape" - would you have wanted to go, Tallulah21?

My daughter-in-law has had one for each baby - organised by her mother.
I was told by my daughter I had to go the 1st time.
I can't see the attraction at all.

Please don't worry about it. I'm sure you will be included in birthdays and so on.

I see my DIL every week and look after their 3 year old. Her family live further away so don’t see them very often. They had a very small baby shower in my garden during lockdown and her family all came, ate my food etc. I just can’t get my head round it. Most important thing though is a healthy baby and mum.

Tallulah21 Tue 30-Jul-24 21:03:36

Her mum organised it.

How mean.

Tallullah21 - was the baby shower just for her side of the family? I think in some cultures, they keep the celebrations separate. This is because, more often than not, the ‘husband’s side of the family’ are strangers to the ‘wife’s side’ (family and friends).
Don’t feel bad Tallullah, I’m sure there’ll be lots of happy times ahead flowers

annieyork69 hello OP, did you want to start a thread?

Tallulah21 Tue 30-Jul-24 22:44:52

Thanks everyone. I won’t let it spoil my relationship with DIL maybe they are just unfriendly. No cultural differences, even step mum was invited. It’s just so alien to me as I don’t like to leave anyone out. Nothing as strange as people.
