Why is this so prevalent in England ?

I cannot understand the mentality of those people , mostly men , causing so much damage in England at the moment. We are all shocked at the murders in Southport but why are they damaging and even looting shops ? This mentality of keeping England for the English is not found in Wales or Scotland but it is found in nothern Ireland . I see them waving flags of Saint George and rioting in so many cities. If the killer of these childen had been say French would they feel the same ? I am sure colour comes into it . I saw someone orchestrating the youths to cause havoc what are their parents thinking they are up to . I must admit I dispair of the mentality of these people .

Starmer has been imposed on us by 20% of the population. He is deeply authoritarian and does not listen to the genuine concerns of the majority. He is deeply socialist and has taken to insulting the majority by calling everyone far right. ie he is imposing a dictatorship, and we are not having it.

What are you going to do?

Incorrect facts karmalady. Labour were the first choice of the voters in 412 seats, which gives them the majority, first past the post political systems disregard the percentage of votes received by each party. They also didn’t only get 20% of the vote by the way.
Express your opinion whilst keeping to the facts, and people will hear you, lie about the facts and they won’t.

The deep concerns have surfaced lately but the incorrect information was from an outside american site and designed to stir the yobs into action. They have group mentality and are violent for the sake of it. The issues need to be separated, there are the yobs and there are those who are very concerned at the unravelling of a peaceful uk

@karmalady

Starmer isn’t calling the majority far right just a small minority behaving like thugs, throwing fire bombs and attacking police. So unless you identify with these thugs I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
Also I can’t think of any Labour PM less left wing than Starmer, indeed any bonafide socialist thinks he’s more like a Tory.
Fact is he is a centrist and right now I think that is the safest place for politics.
As for a dictator, no, he isn’t, but I get it, you’re upset.

Oreo Mon 05-Aug-24 11:39:18

Whatever the Police say regarding bystanders, they’ll only arrest those who act in a criminal way. That could be for throwing anything at all at buildings or the Police themselves or at anyone stood watching.Plus breaking and entering or acting in a threatening manner.
The footage of what happened in Rotherham is awful, the Police were pelted with missiles nonstop. Most were masked so a difficult job for sorting out who did what.
Most of the crowd did nothing but watch or film on their phones, if they decided to show this to the Police it would be helpful. They may refuse to do that of course.A few just watching looked delighted and enjoyed the spectacle but it has to be said that many looked on with serious faces, were obviously local and not happy about the situation.
Let’s not tar all with the same brush.

Here we go again - name calling by Maizie and wwm2. I am neither silly or stupid thank you.

The JST protesters I will still call thugs. Hanging themselves from gantries and bridges over fast moving traffic could have caused extremely violent incidents, killing not just themselves but whole families in cars. Their antics at oil refineries, roads and airports could equally have caused violent deaths.

Chicken and egg?

But it does help to post the truth, it is the lies that have stirred the yobs as you correctly posted.

But you need to also post the truth relating to Starmer.

Yesterday you misinformed people when you said that he was leaving the situation to go on holiday - not correct

That he was not attending cobra meetings
- not correct

That he has called everyone far right - not correct.

I feel very sorry for the asylum seekers inside these hotels where the EDF are throwing fire bombs etc. Some of them will already be traumatised by war or the violence they suffered at the hands of terrible regimes. And of course there will be children there.

I agree. The people in those hotels must have been terrified. How must it feel to be so hated by these thugs.

I think the percentage was around 33% of votes for Labour.
Low, but the way things work with FPTP got them into power.
Fair enough IMO as that’s how the voting system in the UK does things.
It has to be said tho that since the Conservatives got in again in 2019, plenty of posters on many forums laid the same charge against them that ‘only so few had actually voted for them’.
Maybe time for all political persuasions to accept what happens at a GE.

same few all the time, on GN, with the agenda, nothing better to do eh. No life outside GN

I don’t know who you are referring to by this Karma but you do sound upset.
My tuppenceworth
“Innocent bystanders” My mother was caught up in a demonstration in Berlin in the early 30’s. She was whacked on the back by a police truncheon, fortunately nothing worse, but when she made it home her parents, while concerned, were more angry at the trouble her curiosity had brought her and impressed on her that bystanders are never seen as “innocent”. Ie- walk (or run) the other way if you can
Little did they know of todays “innocent bystanders” filming every second on their cameras.
Looking back at the summer riots we have seen, ever since the 70’s in London that I can remember, there has been an element of “rent a thug” the sort who put the word out and will travel to wherever they can help to inflame the situation. I don’t believe these are entirely spontaneous. Farage said “We’re coming for you Labour” or something like that, I have very serious misgivings

I think he's learning from his mistakes in opposition and has had a lot to deal with in his first month in power.

There are people in this country who would like a more extreme government of left or right but on the whole, the British people prefer centrist politics, hence their rejection of Corbyn and their complete mistrust of Truss (who was thrust on us). I doubt that Braverman would prove to be any more popular except to those on the right.

There are always those, of course, who will support extremists on both sides but that is the same in any society except in repressive regimes where other views are not tolerated.

Certainly violence is not the answer.
I wish the police had more powers to deal with these people but I'm not sure what.

They don’t need to download it. The police have access and apparently it is all downloaded and stored away for perusal over the coming days.

paddyann54 Mon 05-Aug-24 11:57:29

Casdon google riots in Scotland the most recent one was 1919,it wasn,ta riot like we see now it was a huge number of people protesting about long working weeks .I know this because my granny was arrested at it for knocking a policeman’s hat off. Before that the riots in Scotland were in 1706 when the union with England was announced .

25Avalon Mon 05-Aug-24 12:04:21

This isn’t just “far right” as so many like to describe it. What about the Harehills incident in Leeds where they tried to take Roma children into care which caused a riot with a double decker bus burnt out and police attacked? What about the child grooming in Rotherham where no action was taken for fear of being accused of racism, the murder of 2 university students and the caretaker, the knife attack on a British soldier and so it goes on. Although I don’t condone the violence it’s not a surprise sadly. And I think it is madness to allow two sets of opposing protestors to protest in close proximity at the same time. Put two sets of football fans together and we know what’s likely to happen which is why one set are cleared from a stadium before another. It’s not right but it happens.

Let’s be honest these protests/stroke riots are about immigration which has become the elephant in the room. This needs to be acknowledged and a way forward found. The majority voted for something to be done in 2019 but it never really happened so they feel disenfranchised. Ironically this was mainly Labour voters who are now protesting.

OnwardandUpward Mon 05-Aug-24 12:08:17

I believe "rent a mob" are being paid by those (rich people) are upset about the effect of Labour on their money. From what I've seen on X (used to be Twitter) they believe that their army will topple the police and that the country will bow to them.

Like the mobs who caused all the trouble in America, it's a people's army who believe in what they are doing and they are pawns being used by the rich and elite. We all know what happened to those rednecks in America too.

Farzanah Mon 05-Aug-24 12:26:33

Rich people paying rent a mob?
I almost gave up reading after a post referring to Starmer as He is deeply socialist.
🤣 I don’t think so!

Callistemon213 Mon 05-Aug-24 12:33:19

Is this thread in danger of descending into make believe?

Is that cue for another song?

To a place, we all know
The land of make believe

OnwardandUpward Mon 05-Aug-24 12:33:40

Well obviously not all rich people. Rich people who are of a certain mindset.

The kind of people protesting are not people with good lives or educations, they believe, as stated on X (Twitter) that they are a "People's army" who are fighting for the greater good. Whoever is ramping them up by inciting hatred and paying them to fight is guilty of the riots.

OnwardandUpward Mon 05-Aug-24 12:35:54

Although of course, those rioters will be the ones punished (and rightly so) because they are stupid enough to obey orders and allow themselves to obey and get their faces plastered over the newspapers.

I'm just saying, this problem goes deeper than the criminals who are rioting. They are in a "people's army" and are obeying whoever is commanding them. I'm sure there is intelligence to detect this.

I think that is a correct analysis of Starmer and where the country stands. I've been a L party member for a long time and he is most definitely "Centrist". Trust me Karmalady he is not "deeply socialist". Look to Corbyn for that.

I think one of the reasons that moderate Conservatives are having difficulty finding a voice is that Starmer has occupied some of that ground previously occupied by them, because that is where so many people stand.

Asians and West Indians don’t mix
In the last area of Southend I lived in the different African countries didn’t mix 😂
At my local hardly a week went past where the wasn’t a fracas.
The worst protagonist were the black South Africans against the Zimbabweans. Why, immigration from the Zimbabweans 🤦🏼‍♀️
Non of them liked the West Indians.
The Asian community didn’t like the Jews.

Dear God, this is depressing.

As you wish.

I assume you find the expression Asian Community offensive?
Do you find this Asian woman offensive using the expression?

It’s claimed rentamob appeared at Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil, Stand up to Racism and Black Lives Matter protests, which received funding from the left wing elite. These are diametrically opposed to the Let’s take back England protestors/rioters, whatever you want to call them. I don’t think it’s rentamob at all. It’s people expressing discontent in a violent way. This cannot be condoned although it can be understood. The issue of immigration cannot be pushed under the carpet any more.
