Good Morning Everyone,
A dry but grey looking sky this morning in brackley .
Yesterdays ECG went OK , got there early and got seen early .
Anyway , today that usual bus journey hoping for a trouble free run , as motorway accidents on M40 can cause bus delays .
Continue to watch the track cycling and GB increase there medal haul.
Take Care,
Mick

I will do grandMattie. I owe her a pm.

grandMattie Wed 07-Aug-24 12:40:22

Greenfinch

*grandMattie*,I hear regularly from Auntieflo. Health wise she is up and down and sometimes she gets very tired but when I hear from her she is always in good spirits and hopes to attend our next local meet up.

Thank you. Give her my best wishes next time you’re in touch, please.

Good morning from a cool Co Armagh, at least it’s dry !
I slept for over 8 hours last night and felt distinctly groggy when I surfaced
I had a lovely couple of days with my daughter and granddaughters who are enjoying a house swop a few hours away ,such fun but it was exhausting keeping up with them
My other daughter had put away my washing and emptied the dishwasher , such thoughtful girls

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It is sunny with high cloud. Yesterday was lovely after the morning’s light rain. Just the right temperature for sitting outside with my book 🙂

Greenfinch, thank you for the news of Auntieflo. Please pass on good wishes.

I have taken the last of my current batch of antibiotics so I am hoping that my current slight nausea and tiredness is a side effect which will go away in a few days.

Marydoll, I despair! You deserve some better fortune from the universe (or even just the transport and roads authorities!).

Happy birthday to MrKitty. These ‘last of the decade’ birthdays can feel quite scary!

GrannySomerset, I have been watching the Swedish Death Cleaners series on ‘U’ (was UKTV) and although it is set in the USA and the ‘cleaners’ can be quite irritating, the psychology rings true. They help the clients to value the things from the past they decide to keep, but help them to make things right for their life now. Do you have a friend or family member who would keep you company while you sort out your DH’s stuff? It must be very hard 💐

GrannySomerset Wed 07-Aug-24 09:46:15

A grey and damp morning so Olympics and domestic admin I think. August is very quiet and I am bored, but not bored enough to start on turning out DH’s study which is still in the disorder that he left it. Far too many books, most of which nobody will want, but I am finding it hard to face dealing with it because he is somehow present.

Sorry that Marydoll is finding life hard, and hope that Urms has a good journey and a happy time in the sunshine.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
So enjoyed seeing my DS and DGD performing last night in the city centre. He on bass guitar and she singing. She was very confident and also spoke well.

I’m off to Berkshire by train this morning to stay with DD and am feeling tired. These days I’m not good with day after day events, I need a day off in between…
Birthday greetings MrKL and thoughts to all with worries 🌺

Georgesgran Wed 07-Aug-24 09:07:57

Good morning from Durham. A warm day, but windy, so I expect it’ll feel cooler.
A friend is calling for coffee this morning, hopefully bringing his dog - a proper one, not like DD2’s little furry friend.
No afternoon plans, but I should catch up with some admin, wash some floors and water outdoor plants.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from Severnside. A lot of cloud up there!

Happy Birthday to Mrlester 🎂🍺

Yesterday I was busy. Up and down the ladder putting screws into my new porch so I could hang the lights back up. Putting them on every now and again to make sure I wasn’t wasting my time. Then a few borders to tidy. By the time I’d cooked my very late lunch it was time to sink into a chair and watch Howards Way.

I’ve made a list this morning of those jobs that keep popping into my head to do. I’ll go to a garden centre and then on to do some shopping. My fridge is like Mother Hubbard.

Bore me all you like Urms I like to hear about the palms swaying in the breeze. Have a great time.

Have a goo day all 🌷

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy, cool Carlisle.

Not much going on here of interest! I got out my old hiking boots yesterday, gave them a polish and then went out for a walk, (only through the park!) to see if they were still comfortable wear if I'm ever up for something more challenging. They seem to be so no need to think of expensive replacements. It was very quiet out, surely not everyone is on holiday?
Today, the ironing beckons and a bit of a clean up in the kitchen. If it looks like brightening up, I may wash a floor mat or two, then on with my new book.

Enjoy the day and any trips away.

Jaxjacky Wed 07-Aug-24 08:48:32

Morning from sun in S Hants, yesterday we had heavy drizzle for a few hours, it was needed.
Have a wonderful holiday Urms and himself.
Happy birthday MrKL 🎂
Library later and I need a new watch strap.

Oh Marydoll what a day. . You are certainly a very determined lady 😉🥰

BlueSapphire Wed 07-Aug-24 08:43:11

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton; it is definitely cooler today.

The rain stayed away yesterday and I managed to get my mattress topper washed and dried.
Gave upstairs a good hoovering and also did the staircase.
Got out for a well-being walk yesterday after lunch and enjoyed home-made cake in the little charity cafe afterwards.
Sat out in my sunny garden when I got home, and read a bit more of my book.

Need to make my bed up properly this morning, then an early lunch and out to the well-being cafe, with a new knitting project in my bag. I have found a pattern for a stuffed cat and have chosen colours that match my Birman cats.

Happy holidays to Urms and her DH - you will have three weeks of bliss! And winewinewine

Have a lovely day everyone.

Good morning all and it’s a sunny one again. Yesterday afternoon drizzled, apparently. I was unaware as I was in the Bridge club hall. Dh brought all the washing in.😇.

DB2 had a heart bypass yesterday, so I’m hoping to hear how things are going. Nephew phoned yesterday and said the op had gone well. 🙏.

Today I’m meeting my friend for coffee in town (market day). I won’t walk up as it’s a steep hill 🥵. I’ll get the bus up! .

I’m then meeting my ‘surrogate’ daughter and baby for lunch. We’ll go to the local pub which has a lovely, huge garden and sit out. I hope the baby is good as mum needs a listening ear. Last time I saw her , she was tearful - lack of sleep, running after a toddler and new baby. We’ve all been there and it can be tough. Toddler will be at nursery.

Dh is going fishing and I must remember to pick up his order from M and S food hall. New shorts, so it’s bound to rain now for the foreseeable!

Hope the toe isn’t too painful Bellasnanna. 😩.
Safe and trouble free journey Urms.
Well done Karma you are a very clever lady 🥇.

Take care all and pray/hope for peace in our beautiful country. 🌸

Marydoll Wed 07-Aug-24 08:28:31

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is a rainy 13°C. The heating kicked in at some point during the night!

Belkasnanna, I am forever breaking toes, I strap the broken toe to the next one, because there is no point in going to A &E. I can appreciate how painful it must be.

We have had a gift voucher since Christmas for an Italian restaurant in Glasgow and decided to go yesterday, after umpteen cancellations due to my ill health.
After telling DH that I wasn't driving to the station, because I fancied a Prosecco with my meal, we went over the muddy field to the station.

Halfway over the field, I realised I had forgotten the voucher, so a grumpy DH had to go back for it. As I pushed my way through the bushes and brambles (a walking stick is great for this), I noticed both heels were bleeding badly. It was so painful.
Just as we got to the bottom of the hill at the station, we heard the train pulling out. DH was not amused.
Since there was no train for ages, we hopped on the bus to Paisley, ( where trains are every fifteen minutes) nearly getting run over, trying to catch the bus sitting at the stop.
Unfortunately and unknown to us, yet another main road was closed and even the bus driver was confused. Consequently, we had to get off early, stopping en route for elastoplast, because my heels were bleeding badly.
The shoes were my go to shoes for walking, but for some reason my ankles had become very swollen.

After getting back to Paisley, we had no idea where to get the bus home, because the bus terminus was closed 😔
I stopped off at the baker's for a treat and the staff, customers and a bus driver were all discussing the chaos.
I don't suppose you know where the xx is stopping, I said.
He laughed and said that even the drivers were confused! Fortunately he did know.
I got home, didn't even empty my bags, made a cuppa and promptly fell asleep.

Why do I never learn and try to do activities, which are now beyond my physical capabilities?
It is because I am my mother's daughter: bolshie, determined and thrawn.😉

After my planned probably difficult meeting with the P.P, I plan to make salmon fish cakes, with salad from the garden.
I couldn't manage anything else.

I hope Baubles, her DH and Ginger's daughter, are making good progress.

Have a good day, folks.

harrigran Wed 07-Aug-24 08:19:39

Good morning from an overcast NE. I think we may have some rain today.
I was weary after my sister left, she considers herself an expert on everything, you name it she has seen it, done it and knows better than the experts 🙄
Today my younger sister and BIL are going to take me shopping, they would be calling anyway as she wants to borrow a handbag. Her and my elder sister are going to a Diamond wedding anniversary party.
Happy holiday Urmston.

Taichinan Wed 07-Aug-24 08:16:27

Good morning Mick and all. I was expecting a rainy start today - and by the looks of it so were the clouds! It looks menacingly dark towards the west - and feels chilly in the wind. Very autumnal.
Sorry about your toe Bella - that's painful.
Happy hols Urm's, just another couple of hours til the taxi comes.
And happy birthday to Mr Kitty - still a young thing!
Yesterday was a glorious day here and my towel wash was completely dry in three hours! Tai chi was good, but I cut it a little bit short as an old stone wall was being pointed outside. As the dust was something else again, and we were told to keep all the hall doors and windows closed, it became a tad uncomfortable inside!
Today is to be a day of clearing all low surfaces in preparation for the visit of my little great grandson - he's apparently into everything now and can move at great speed! Happy days.
Enjoy your day everyone x

luluaugust Wed 07-Aug-24 08:08:13

Good morning from a sunny W Kent.
Happy birthday to your DH Kitty
Ouch Bellasnana
Good walk today to visit DF and catch up, loads more ironing later
Best wishes to all

glammagran Wed 07-Aug-24 08:01:23

Good morning all.

DGS2 was on really good form yesterday. We took him blackberry picking and he had a great time in the very good playground in a nearby town. DGD3’s turn today.

Have a terrific holiday with your family Ums I’m so happy for you.

Enjoy what looks to be a reasonably sunny day.

Grammaretto Wed 07-Aug-24 08:01:22

Good morning all from the Isle of Skye.
Very different from yesterday. Dreich and cold with lots of puddles.
I wanted to climb a local hill today for the view as we have a free afternoon. 😒

There was a fab concert last night and I'm meeting a friend who lives in Skye this evening.

Sorry about your toe Bellasnanna and your poor knee Ash

Have a lovely time in Spain Urms
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk with a brilliant blue sky. We had a light rain shower early yesterday evening which meant I could avoid watering the pots.

I have my all day online meeting today. I use the dining room for my laptop which is north facing so should be cool and not bothered by sunlight on the screen.

Your mention of goat meat Karmalady reminded me of the goats we kept when our children were small. We usually had 2 mainly for the milk for DS who suffered from infantile eczema. Any billy kids were gently reared until they were about 4 months old and then went to the local very small abbatoir( they only took a small handful of animals each day.

We belonged to the local goat keeping society which was a very friendly sociable group with regular get togethers. Everyone said how healthy goat meat was because it was so lean and fat free. It tasted like lamb or mutton from older animals.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 07-Aug-24 07:57:22

Good morning. Grey and damp here in Co Durham.
Happy holiday to urms and himself. Safe journey. Ouch Bellasnana. Karma I’m in awe at your skills.
Early Sainsbury’s delivery so I’ll come back to read your posts later. Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 07-Aug-24 07:56:52

Good morning everyone from a mild but not sunny south Manchester. Alexa tells currently it’s 15°C with showers later and a high of 19°C.

Never mind we are off to Málaga today for 3 weeks, taxi booked for 10am. Temperatures there are in the mid to high 30’s!

WiFi at our place can be a bit iffy but I’m sure somehow I’ll be able to bore you with tales of our holiday. 😁

grandMattie Wed 07-Aug-24 07:54:17

Has anyone seen/heard from AutieFlo? She has been very quiet.

Grandmabatty Wed 07-Aug-24 07:31:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and cloudy. Baubles I'm glad you continue to improve. Kitty happy birthday to your dh. bellasnana ouch! I hope it isn't broken.
Yesterday was a trying day with the boys, dgs1 in particular, who was very argumentative and cheeky at times. We made friends after a while. Dgs2 was not happy that his big brother was in trouble and gave me a row 😂. They are very protective of each other. I was shattered by evening and had a very early night.
Today is a quiet day. I'll potter about. I intend to clear disused toys from the boys' room as it is seriously cluttered, but I'll do it slowly. Apart from that, nothing is planned. Have a good day all.
