Good morning from Bristol. We are promised drizzle all day.

I’m feeling a bit better after having been felled by a vicious attack of labyrinthitis yesterday morning. I had to spend most of the day lying down, with my eyes closed to stop the spinning sensation. 🙁

I shall take it very, very easy today, forgo my weekly visit to DD’s. The children are away, she is recovering from COVID, so it is probably a good idea.

I hope all is well in your lives. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

karmalady Thu 08-Aug-24 05:46:27

Good morning from s somerset, dull and damp for the whole day today

The third and last summer nightie made yesterday, again from viscose challis stash and that is me sorted for warm nights. The next sewing sessions will be for warm casual indoor trousers for winter.

I really don`t have much of a plan for today but my day will fill, it always does, depends on the weather

Have a good day

Mizuna Thu 08-Aug-24 06:05:31

Good morning from Cornwall where there's light, refreshing rain. gM that sounds very unpleasant, hope today is better for you. A good catch-up with my daughter-in-law yesterday at her eclectic, craft-filled cottage. She loves handmade puppets and had a new one to show me. Her huge, daft cat kept coming in the room and joining in our conversations. 😄

Today my prayer group friends are meeting for coffee and I hope to get there if my knee is in agreement. Six weeks since the operation and it seems to be going well. Perranporth beach awaits my treks, as ever. 😍

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 08-Aug-24 06:33:28

Morning all from West Oxfordshire,

It is the U3A summer lunch today. I am taking a pudding. Chocolate and sour cream cake which I will decorate with strawberries, cream and chocolate fudge icing.

I think son and his partner will have a rest day today after their very busy time in London yesterday. I expect my granddaughter will keep busy!

Have a good day everyone. I hope the Urms are getting plenty of sun.

Ashcombe Thu 08-Aug-24 06:52:00

Good morning from an overcast Whiddon Down.

I hope the restful day has seen off the labyrinthitis, grandMattie. A horrid condition.

You are doing well, Mizuna. A joy to start to return to normal activities!

Yesterday, we drove over Dartmoor in showery weather followed by lunch in Tavistock after a mooch round the extensive covered market there. It’s a favourite town because of the beautiful buildings and vibrant atmosphere.

A good day is wished to all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

RosesandLilac Thu 08-Aug-24 06:52:34

Good morning fra bright but cloudy hillside in south Glos, rain is forecast from midday. We could definitely do with some here, the soil is absolutely bone dry.
I hope you feel better grandMattie, labyrinths tis is utterly miserable, I know .
My trip to the dentist went well, but I felt like I’d been kicked in the face all day. I guess four injections must have caused bruising? I didn’t sleep well at all 😡.
I started another crochet blanket yesterday after, using up chunky yarn so it will be warm and grow quickly.
Apart from walking the dog nothing much happening today, I can always find something to do, I’m rarely bored 😊
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from sunny Malta where another hot day is dawning.

Thanks for the commiserations and advice re my toe (which is still throbbing and not looking very pretty). I have strapped it to the toe next to it which is what I did when I broke the big toe next to it just before Covid. It is a lot easier to walk than it was then but it is quite painful.

My direct cremation plan is now in place and I feel a sense of relief knowing my children won’t have the bother of organising anything or feeling they have to drop everything to fly home (for the two in the US). There is no cremation in Malta but there is in Sicily so that’s where it’s done.

Today I am going to sort out the spare room and get it ready for my friend’s arrival in about three weeks time. I’ve procrastinated long enough!

So sorry you felt so rough yesterday grandMattie, maybe your body is telling you to take it a bit easier. Hope you feel better today. 💐

Hoping for a good day for you all.☀️

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Have woken to a beautiful cloudless blue sky.

Yesterday we went to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast and sat on our chairs on the beach reading, had a walk and browse around the shops. Weather was warm with sun and cloud and we had an excellent fish & chip lunch. A lovely day escaping just the two of us.

Today DH is cycling with his friend and a lunch out, I have hair cut and colour and shopping to do.

Hope everyone has a healthy happy day enjoying some summer sunshine 💐

Marydoll Thu 08-Aug-24 07:12:00

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is only 13°C.
What a miserable summer we are having, with more rain forecast today.

I have woken yet again, with a blinding headache, but need to get moving, for DH is away to pick up Dollie and she will be looking for her breakfast pancakes. I suggested that she stay overnight, to make things easy for everyone, but received a very firm No from DIL.
I'm quite worried about her low mood at the moment.

Today is DD's wedding anniversary. Her Lockdown wedding in our garden, where I had to watch from a distance, due to the fact that I was shielding, seems a lifetime away.
It was the most glorious day and DD and SIL were so happy, that was all that mattered, after her cancelled wedding on the day after Lockdown.
The only sad part was that DH never saw her in her beautiful wedding dress (she didn't want to wear it), she was stunning in it.

Poor wee BabyD is unwell and now on antibiotics, her conjunctivitis is not clearing up and she now has a chest infection. DIL sent us an endearing photo of her with a huge frown (and scraped head) apparently reading the large sheet of paper from the medication pack. DD said BabyD was frowning because she had been reading about the side effects and was very concerned! 😂
I would have sworn it was a picture of her daddy as a toddler, he was always covered in scrapes and bruises and she is the image of him. 😍

GM, I hope your dizziness settles. I am prone to vertigo and it is most discombobulating. It is probably wise to keep away from your family just now. Have a good rest.

Have a good day folks and best wishes to al, those, who are struggling,

Redcar Thu 08-Aug-24 07:14:28

Good morning everyone from mid essex. It’s sunny at the moment but wind and rain are forecast for later. I hope we get some rain, the garden is very dry and looking quite scruffy.
Labyrinthitis is very unpleasant grandmattie and I hope you feel better soon. I hope your toe feels better today*bellasnana*, try to rest it as much as you can.
mizuna I hope you get to Perranporth beach soon, but no doubt it will be busy with holidaymakers.
Nothing much planned for today but there’s a pile of ironing to do, and other such domestic tasks!
Have a good day everyone.

Grandmabatty Thu 08-Aug-24 07:15:38

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and rather gloomy. Rain is forecast later. GrandMattie I hope you feel better now. Take things easy. Bellasnana sorting out funeral arrangements is such a wise move.
Yesterday I achieved quite a lot of housework. I cleared the boys' room of outgrown toys and then gave it a good clean. I tidied away outdoor toys too and did some weeding and pruning. Inside, I cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen then made puff pastry pizza for dinner, using up lots of leftovers.
Today I'm making more lime curd and cleaning the kitchen doors. I never got round to that yesterday and there are little fingermarks on them. I might make scones too. Have a good day all.

monk08 Thu 08-Aug-24 07:22:03

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Shopping today and will drop in at a friends to take birthday card and present.
Mattie take it easy.
Well it sounds like the machine has finished so will get on and put the washing out on the line.
Have a great day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Greyduster Thu 08-Aug-24 07:24:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is out in South Yorkshire but it’s not expected to last. Long enough, I hope, for a walk with the Thursday group this morning, and lunch with DD. They arrived back from Canada yesterday evening having had the most amazing holiday.
Writers group yesterday was very interesting. We were joined by a chap who is hoping to write a book. We had an interesting chat about the writing process, and he asked if he could join us again. I admire his courage in wanting to throw in his lot with “ladies of a certain age”!
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Thu 08-Aug-24 07:30:01

Good morning all from a sunny and fresh North Leicestershire.

As well as having 2 DGDs here we have a tiler coming to put a few more times in the downstairs shower room. If everyone (well DH and the tiler!) had listened to me it would have been done like this originally! Just saying!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Thu 08-Aug-24 07:33:20

Good morning from a sunny W Kent.
Sorry you haven’t been well gM and Marydoll hope the headache subsides. llfl I wish I belonged to your U3A that cake sounds delicious.
A bit of shopping this morning whilst DH entertains the gardener, otherwise a clear afternoon.
Best wishes.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 08-Aug-24 07:40:47

Good morning from a bright South Downs.

Enjoyed yesterday clambering about on the RN ships and marvelling at the Mary Rose.

I was fascinated to see life sized models built from the skeletons found. They were very tall and looked extremely well fed - not at all as I thought they would be. Their diet must have been excellent. No fast food for them!

A full day forecast with rain later, so will potter. Do the ironing, return and hopefully exchange a dress and trousers, and generally mooch.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony - thst was certainly achieved yesterday in the U.K. 😊😊

But also to the world.

Georgesgran Thu 08-Aug-24 07:41:08

Good morning from Durham. A cool day, up to 20 is forecast with rain at 4pm.
Another chap coming to have a look and quote for my roof job sometime this morning, then the gardener, single handed today, will do his thing.
I’m meeting my friend (of 55 years) this afternoon at a local garden centre, then a whizz up to Tesco to suss out their mobile phone deals.
Hope gM and MaryD feel a bit better later.
Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Thu 08-Aug-24 07:43:47

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bright and sunny start to the day
Hoping you’re feeling much better today gMattie
We’re looking after DGD again this morning and then taking her to her holiday club later. She’s really chatty at the moment and talks non stop, I enjoy her company whatever we do. Her brother is still busy at his basketball camp this week, he’s really sporty and nowhere near as talkative!
Hope your DIL is ok marydoll, Babydoll is better soon and a Happy Anniversary to your DD and husband
Enjoy your day everyone whatever you’re doing
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Taichinan Thu 08-Aug-24 07:51:12

Good morning all from a cloudy and cool (14°) Angus coast.
Sorry about your labyrinthitis Grandmattie - speedy recovery flowers. Have a restful day.
Poor little Babydoll - hope she's better soon. And your poor toe Bellasnana - my foot once had an argument with a chair leg and that was the outcome for me too. Very painful!
Good to hear your knee is progressing well Mizuna and recovery is on schedule. How lovely to have Perranporth beach to look forward to.
Tai chi again this morning, and I hope the stonemason has finished his pointing of the old wall and we can dare to open the hall windows 🤞. I am no longer the oldest person in the group and must hand that honour back to a man who is a year older. He had stents fitted last year, which wasn't straightforward, and really I wasn't expecting him back. But there he was on Tuesday standing waiting for me to pick him up as I always used to! He goes to as many classes as he can manage, which at the moment is three per week.
Anyway off I must trot, wearing my 'second oldest' hat! Have a good day all x

Liberty Thu 08-Aug-24 07:55:29

Good morning from yet another very sunny start to the day. It seems that this corner of eastern England is escaping the rain and mists covering other parts of the country.

My meeting yesterday went well and finished on time although it was a little sad as one member, who became involved when I did,is retiring from it. We have arranged to meet for lunch in a couple of weeks though so we’ll keep in touch.

Off to my stretch class shortly and then home to a peaceful day in the shade or summerhouse. DH took the dog to the seaside yesterday but they didn’t stay long as it was extremely busy. Those on holiday here are having such lovely weather.

Sorry to read about those feeling under the weather. Hope all feel better soon.

Urmstongran Thu 08-Aug-24 07:57:56

Good morning everyone from an already hot and sunny Málaga! I’d forgotten how dark the mornings are here in the summer. It’s was pitch black at 7am then it’s as if a switch is flicked and it’s sun sun sun. The laughing seagulls woke me up, a lovely holiday sound. Himself snoozed on a while longer.

Our family of four are coming out to join us tomorrow (not all in the same apartment we wouldn’t fit six of us in ours!) for a fortnight. Himself has been reminded by me to be mindful. He can do anything he wants but in moderation the Prof said. And to stay out of the sun in the hottest part of the day as he is post chemo.

So today, a day of pottering, reminding ourselves what’s in the drawers and cupboards - it’s so long since we were last here. Later go over the road to the Dia supermecado for supplies. There will be no cooking done this 3 weeks. We are on holiday so apart from easy breakfasts of cereal, fruit, toast and marmalade (and unlimited mugs of tea for me) we will eat out. Besides, it’s too bluddy hot to bother - my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

The gardens are beautiful and as pristine as ever. Cesar works so hard. He and his family apparently live in the block now too so I suppose he cuts the grass and cleans the pools in his own backyard ha! This has always been ‘my happy place’ these past 20 years. I remember opening my 50th birthday cards on our little balcony. Blimey, the years have flown by.

Gingster Thu 08-Aug-24 08:25:57

Good morning all and it’s sunny her in Essex. Sorry Marydoll but ‘our’ summer has been glorious for the past month or so.
In fact I’m looking for some rain ! Strange aren’t I?

Yesterday I did walk up the hill to church and then on up to town to have a wander around the market. Met my friend for an iced latte and then on to meet my ‘lovely’ girl for lunch. Her baby was good and we managed an hour and a half to eat and chat. She seemed more relaxed but motherhood hasn’t come easy to her. 👶🏼.

Walking home , DIL and dgd2 pulled up beside me. I was nearly home so didn’t need a lift. Had a nice roadside chat, with gd telling me she has an interview at a dental clinic this morning a few miles away. She awaits her A level results next week and also has her driving test the day after. Such exciting times for her. A lovely girl and I hope all goes well for her. ❤️.

Dgd1 messaged the family to say her work colleague had had his jaw broken in the riots in Southampton where she works and lives. She’d been at a training session and they packed up early and got her an Uber home.! Scary times!

RosesandLilac I’ve pm’d you re Crochetted blanket.
GM take it easy
Marydoll I’m sure you’ll cheer Dollie up and have a lovely day with her. Hope Babydoll is better. They do bounce back, don’t they!

Our car is in for service today, so it will be home and garden pursuits. Walk the dog and watch Olympics.

Take care all 🌸

Jaxjacky Thu 08-Aug-24 08:45:18

Morning from S Hants, cloud has now booted out the earlier sun.
gMattie I hope today is better, labarynthitis is horrible and your broken toe is equally horrrid in a painful way Bellasnanna.
My daughter is having a bbq this afternoon for my brother and his wife, I’m hoping it stays dry, it’ll be a good catch up for us all.

EkwaNimitee Thu 08-Aug-24 08:53:57

Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy, cool and showery Carlisle.
Wish I were somewhere hot and sunny, or just sunny, I don't mind cool as long as I can see blue sky.
I managed my ironing yesterday and got out in the garden between showers, mostly to deadhead which is now increasingly necessary.
Today, a little cleaning then I shall find more interesting things to do, there's plenty of them. I might finish my book. Getting outside will depend on the weather, it's not promising. And I have a Tesco delivery at lunchtime.

I hope you will be OK today grandMattie, what a horrible day to endure yesterday.

Have the best possible day everyone.
