Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry and cloudy with a red sky this morning over brackley .
Today my usual bus trip to Bicester a chance to relax away from where I live .
My TV still playing up with no BBBC channels so todays plan is switch it off at the main , when doing a first time insulation, remove the aerial lead as well to see if it removes the memory .
Anyway I also intend to watch the women's version of the Tour De France on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a dry north Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿- it won’t last of course, we’re promised lashings of the wet stuff ☔️ today but a lovely weekend 😊

A very busy brilliant time was had in Cardiff - such an easy city to visit and trot around and we were blessed with fine weather, food and friendly folks wherever we went 🤗

A quiet day recovering before bingo tonight - the coffers are empty 😟 we need a concerted effort so that another mission is possible!

Will catch up with all your doings over the last few days 🤗

Good morning from Bristol. By leaning out of the window, I saw a lovely pink-clouded sunrise. No rain. It did drip a little yesterday, enough to be a nuisance, not enough to water the garden.
Had a quiet day yesterday, but went to the next village to my book group, taking my neighbour with me. Her first visit. Didn’t get a post-mortem as she took the bus home, while I needed to do a couple of things before walking home - up a very steep hill!
Taichinan, the photo of your princeling is adorable. No wonder you worship him…. MD, don’t overdo things.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday turned out well. Younger son has gone back to London. We waved him off and drove to the Breast clinic where I had a mammogram and good news! The surgeon thought my problem was muscular and the mammogram was clear. She was unable to access any of my records. I had all my previous treatment in Oxford so was surprised to be sent to Swindon by the GP. To celebrate OH and I had dinner at one of our favourite restaurants.

Elder son and his family are back today for a few days. Should be fun.

Have a good day.

RosesandLilac Thu 15-Aug-24 06:12:30

Good morning from south Glos where the sky is streaked with pink clouds.
I enjoyed my trip to the hairdressers yesterday, it’s chopped short again so very easy to manage and I really like it!
I met my neighbour’s 3 day old granddaughter yesterday, oh my goodness she is beautiful (of course!), looks so tiny with a mop of dark hair 😍.
My reupholstered Victorian nursing chair and footstool were delivered yesterday evening, I am very pleased with how they look. The lady who did them has done a beautiful job.
Today some more bits to do in the garden, tidying up and deadheading, I will pick more runner beans for dinner.
Ocado delivery late morning, very convenient as I’m 9 miles from the nearest supermarket.
Take care everyone 🌹

baubles Thu 15-Aug-24 06:47:48

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the rain is lashing down.

Great news llfl.

Yesterday was warm and sunny and I sat reading in the garden all afternoon. I was feeling quite content with the world after DH had been told there’s no infection in his knee.

Later today I’ll make my way over to Edinburgh to stay overnight as I’m needed to look after the children tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Mizuna Thu 15-Aug-24 06:47:55

Good morning from a cloudy, mild Cornwall. A lovely day with my eight-year-old granddaughter yesterday who came with a shortbread recipe in her head and made it from start to finish without my help. So lovely to see this willowy girl growing up. Her brother was with his uncle, jumping off things as usual, as you can see. 😂

Today I'll bus-jaunt to somewhere, possibly the Lizard where the beachcombing is very good.

Grandmabatty Thu 15-Aug-24 06:48:26

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and wet. It's rained quite a bit overnight after a glorious day yesterday. Ladyleftfieldlover it's very good news for you.
Yesterday was a lovely day. Dgs1 was so excited about school. He looked very smart in his uniform and very grown up. Dd said that when the teachers came out, and the Head Teacher and Depute Head too, dgs1 ran to his teacher to tell her all about his new clothes. 😂 At the end of the day, when dd picked him up, he spotted the Head Teacher along the corridor and he hurtled along and launched himself at her to give her a hug! Dgs2 was inconsolable when dgs1 went into school and he didn't. He missed his big brother so much.
Later dd, dgs2, my aunt and uncle and I visited mum. I have attached a photo of her cake which dd made. Mum was surprised to see us all and loved her cake. I had given my brother the details of when we were meeting at the hospital, but he chose not to come with us and he visited as we were leaving. He's a strange fellow.
Today I'm doing nothing. Some pottering and a little ironing. I miss the Olympics being on and hearing Andrew Cotter and Hazel Irvine. I'll have chicken tonight. Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Aug-24 06:50:10

Morning all from S E Essex it’s 16° with a high of 24° no rain forecast.

The cleaning fairies are here early this morning, I have bedding to iron and I really need to go to the big Sainsbury’s to get things I cannot source locally.

Not sure what else I will get done 🤣

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Mizuna Thu 15-Aug-24 06:52:37

I'm so glad your mum loved her cake Grandmabatty, so would I! 😍

Greyduster Thu 15-Aug-24 06:57:29

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there was a moody sunrise and it is now overcast, but dry. I hope it stays dry for walking group this morning. I will have lunch with DD and call in on my niece on the way home. I had a long catch up with DS on the phone last night. He always has a lot to say for himself so there’s never a lull in the conversation. He was cooking roasted vegetables with mozzarella cheese for his dinner and it looked delicious.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Redcar Thu 15-Aug-24 07:09:42

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny here and mild, a dry warm day is forecast, possibly with rain overnight tonight. Fingers crossed I might not need to water the garden, and the water butts will be refilled.
Went for a walk round the village yesterday, but felt tired afterwards. Did some deadheading in the garden, more to do today. May go to the garden centre this morning to get something colourful to brighten the garden, it’s looking quite scruffy at the moment,
Good news for llfl and for baubles DH.
Enjoy your bus trip mizuna.
I hope everyone has a good day.

karmalady Thu 15-Aug-24 07:13:17

Good morning from s somerset, sunny today

I managed to clear the large shrub in a pot and it went to recycling, cut into pieces, including the heavy root. My car was full and I have gained a more open vista. It was heavy work

I took the silicone lubricant spray out to remind me, I need to do the annual maintenance on windows and doors. I don`t look forward to it but it needs to be done and I need to walk around with a small ladder. Not on a rainy day as I need to open windows and doors fully and get at the tops. I hope I get enough enthusiasm to get it done today

An exercise walk later today, looking at the flowers and plants takes my mind off the effort. Thank you to everyone who has these, especially the glorious hollyhocks and hydrangeas at the front of their homes

Have a good day

Georgesgran Thu 15-Aug-24 07:20:30

Good morning from a wet and windy Durham. I’ve slept badly and feel like a washed out rag. I have a new shredder to collect from Sainsbury’s/Argos, then coffee at a friend’s house, as she needs to stay in for a delivery.
Later, I’ll go to Metrocentre, as I need a cash withdrawal and a book for DGS2.
I think I’ll take a cup of tea up to bed.
Best wishes to all. X

brook2704 Thu 15-Aug-24 07:21:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud and rain in the forecast for later
A gorgeous cake grandmabatty, pleased to hear your mum enjoyed her birthday and well done to your DD, she’s very talented
I’m doing a volunteering session this morning but not much else planned for later except some housework and gardening
If you’re reading this Ash hope you’re doing ok❤️
Gorgeous picture mizuna
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Thu 15-Aug-24 07:26:50

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire.

Last day of Dd2 and Co's annual visit today. We will miss them but not the mess! We may go to a nearby maze if the weather cheers up a bit.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Thu 15-Aug-24 07:33:43

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow, where it is 14°C and extremely wet and dark.
The two Primary schools were due to come to Mass today, but Dollie will be delighted to discover that she won't be going due to the extreme weather forecast. She is a heathen! 🤣

How heartening to hear good news from Baubles and Llfl.

We have BabyD today, our plans have changed due to the weather. We now have none! I have made her blueberry and banana breakfast muffins. That should keep her for all of five minutes.

To my surprise, my medications look as if they have been synced. I looked at the pharmacist's face, when I handed over the screeds of scripts and asked if she would rather I picked them up tomorrow. She laughed and said she would need time to go through them all! .
The main road in Paisley was still closed and the large junction, where I had my accident, chaotic and stressful. I decided to go home, over the back roads on the way back, only to encounter more road works and temp traffic lights.

I was quite late from church last night, which was surprisingly busy. It was odd, driving in the twilight for the first time in my new car.
The young sacristan and I used the opportunity to get lots of jobs done, we never get peace to do things at the weekend. The tidieness and order brought joy to my soul. Every shelf ( and there are many), drawer and cupboard are all labelled.
There will be severe consequences if anyone messes them up. 🤣

Unfortunately, I received a message from the sacristan, with whom I worked on Monday, saying he has Covid. I am rather anxious, because I was unable to get my booster this time, because of a severe chest infection. If I catch Covid, I must go into hospital for an infusion of antibiotics, tablet form is unsuitable. 🤞

Wishing you all a good day. I must rush, the baby will be here soon.

Gingster Thu 15-Aug-24 07:37:05

Good morning all and, yes, it’s another very warm day ahead. I long for some rain. Sorry, those who have had lots of it 😢.
We are due for some tonight.🤞.

Yesterday was a nice day with Dd and little gd 6. Like yours, Mizuna, she’s 8 and growing into an independent young lady. Tiny for her age but very capable and quick to learn. I call her my ‘fairy with a lions heart’.
We prepared salad for lunch with her chopping, dicing and presenting beautifully on a plate. Baked chocolate brownies, and did some craft work.
Then off to the park with little pooch who ran after her ball wildly while gd cartwheeled around the huge field. Into the playground for a gym routine and back home for an Icecream and brownie. A busy day and lovely. And it didn’t cost a penny! 👍. DD was in ‘good’ form 🙏.

Today dog has the groomers and I’ll go to Bowls and pop into town for birthday bags and wrapping paper. We have so many birthdays during the summer months.

Dh will take the car in when I get bag to have new tyres and break shoes. ££££££££!

We await to hear of ds2’s A level results. She has her driving test tomorrow and her 18th gathering at the weekend! Phew!

I hope you all have a lovely day ‘come rain or shine’. ☔️☀️

Liberty Thu 15-Aug-24 07:50:37

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk with no sign of rain. The grass is now brown in patches but it will recover when it eventually rains.

Awaiting phone call about DGD1’s A level results. She is off to collect them from school shortly. Hoping she and all the other youngsters are happy when they get them.

Apprenticeships seem to be becoming more and more popular and therefore oversubscribed. I spoke to a friend recently whose nephew had applied to Sizewell for an apprenticeship. They were oversubscribed 4 times and had selected a number for a 6 week assessment. They are paying these young people £400 pw and looking after them very well. What’s not to like for the lucky ones eventually selected.

Hope today is a good one for all.

monk08 Thu 15-Aug-24 07:52:28

Good morning all from the Black country it looks like the sun is trying to break through although cloud is predicted for all day.
Shopping and later over to friends.
Great news Llfl and Baubles DH.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Taichinan Thu 15-Aug-24 07:58:08

Good morning all. A grey day on the Angus coast with rain to follow c - a lull after the overnight rain. Yesterday was a glorious September day of glorious sunshine cooked by a brisk wind off the sea. Perfect for drying all the weekend's bedding.
Llfl so glad to hear your news - definitely worth that celebration! And baubles, pleased

Bellasnana Thu 15-Aug-24 08:05:23

A late good morning from Malta where the high temperatures are expected to last for some time yet. I can’t remember when we last had any proper rain.

DD3 and SiL enjoyed their evening at the village festa, so much so that they didn’t roll home until after 3.30am! I was so tired by then although the boys were good as gold.

They woke at 2am briefly as they were both thirsty, but went down again. Don’t know how they slept with all the bangs from petards and fireworks. The Maltese love their festas.

Today is a Public Holiday, the Feast of the Assumption, known here as ‘Santa Maria’. Almost everywhere closes for this week and today will be like a Sunday.

My trip to the dentist was better than expected! I had a full X-ray and there is nothing untoward going on. The root canal I had done needed a bit of shaving but that was all. Only €70 so a relief in more ways than one!

Lovely photos today, that cake is a masterpiece Grandmabatty. Well done to your DD, I’m glad your mum enjoyed it too. Also glad your little chap had a happy first day back to school, bless him.

Llfl that’s such a relief to know you got the all clear. Also good news about Mr Baubles’s knee💐

Sorry this is such a ramble. Wishing you all a good day.☀️

BlueSapphire Thu 15-Aug-24 08:06:00

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a nice change after yesterday's gloom.

Walked out to the post box in the morning, was only out 15 minutes but that was enough to give me hay fever for the rest of the day; my eyes were so sore. I take a regular daily allergy tablet, but it has no effect and even the ex-prescription ones that Marydoll recommended last year yield no positive results. May have to resort to the doctor....
Stayed in the rest of the day and got the ironing done, and spent the afternoon reading.

Will have to venture out today as the front grass needs cutting. Then need to wash the kitchen floor, and a Sainsbury's delivery is expected late morning.
Sweet chilli chicken for dinner tonight with Bombay potatoes and Peshwari naan..

Lovely birthday cake 🎂 Grandmabatty!

Have a good day everyone.

luluaugust Thu 15-Aug-24 08:15:06

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Off to the local farm shop this morning and then a cup of tea with DD2 later.
Good news llfl and baubles
Marydoll I am crossing fingers and toes
Good luck to all the GC awaiting A level results our turn next year

Jaxjacky Thu 15-Aug-24 08:15:37

Morning from sunny S Hants, we had a couple of hours yesterday of drizzle that turned to rain, very welcome.
I sorted out insurance for both cars with decent reductions, worth the tedium of comparison sites, then two long phone calls with friends.
Good news baubles and a beautiful cake Grandmabatty
The washing basket needs attention. Octopus have free electricity for an hour today, so it’ll go on then along with a cottage pie in the oven.
