Good morning from a dull and cloudy Torbay. Sunshine promised later.

I know that route well, Mick, from my regular trips to and from Portsmouth over the last ten years and it’s always busy. We usually have a break at the Dorchester McDonalds but that wouldn’t be possible in a coach, unfortunately.

I’m going to our Little Theatre this morning where there is a monthly meeting of an evangelical church. Some folk from my previous church attend so I am looking forward to it.

My thanks again for the lovely warm comments from yesterday. I can’t tell you how much they melted my heart.

I hope Litterpicker continues to recover.

Good morning Mick, that was a long journey, it’s bad enough from where I live in south Gloucestershire.
It’s a cloudy start here, noticeably cooler too.
My plans for today might be quickly curtailed by my neighbours who have visitors- they were incredibly noisy yesterday with a blasted karaoke machine 🤬
It seems that they’re incapable of talking at a normal volume, they bellow and shriek at each other. It seems to be an annual thing.
We normally never hear a word from them 🤷🏼‍♀️. It started at 7.30 yesterday morning and was still going strong at 2am this morning.
The fact that despite being deaf I could still hear them…..

Today I will do a roast dinner I think, we haven’t had one for sometime. I do find cooking a real chore. I have little enthusiasm for it, the novelty wore of years ago!
DH will take the dog out for a longer walk this morning so , subject to neighbours, I will probably do some more weeding and tidying up in the garden, I am perfect happy pootling around outside 😊
Let’s hope today goes well for us all 🌹

Good morning - a bit earlier than usual for me, especially on a Sunday- from N Bucks.
Proms again today, starting at 11 so it means an early train to Euston as they are all slow (1 hr+) until mid-morning. Particularly looking forward to The Firebird.

I changed my bedding this morning, normally I wash it straight away but it seems to be a pointless exercise as it won`t even half-fill my machine. I will need to bottom my bedroom today, I do that after every linen changeover and I will do that first thing.

Bits and bobs to do today but overall a restful and quiet day

Yesterday plans changed and I spent most of the day out and about shopping with DD2, we didn’t buy much but got some ideas for when she moves house. Today I’m definitely staying home as I’ve lots to finish off before we go away for a week tomorrow
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It feels quite autumnal today.

Elder son cooked a delicious barbecue last night. We do like eating outside. We will finish the leftovers today and I’ll make strawberry crumble for pudding.

We may visit a local landmark today which is only open a few times a year.

Apparently the bathroom is now finished but they have the decorators in tomorrow! Son’s partner is in London now but will come back here tomorrow. It is lovely having them to stay but they are sooo untidy! Younger son is the total opposite and our daughter isn’t too bad.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. We’re promised sun later.

Garden taming accomplished yesterday the garden tool shed was emptied and tidied, a rubbish bag filled in the process. Both very satisfying.

Today we begin preparation for bedroom carpet on Thursday. With two of my hospital sessions to work around I’ll feel better if we begin today. First task will be to empty and sort the contents of our ottoman bed. I suspect that will be enough for today.

That sounds to have been a marathon day out mick. There will be a roast dinner here too roses, chicken for us. Hope your day is less intruded on.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Windy and autumnal here.
What happened to Summer?

I was out at the Fringe last night with friends. A really good life affirming performance from a favourite of mine. The city was packed but very colourful. We went to an Indian vegetarian restaurant afterwards, also packed but pleasant enough.

Today I shall venture in again to meet DD and the girls for a children's show. Before that I have plenty of housework and other catching up to do.
What a nuisance about your noisy neighbours Roses at least it's not all the time.

So sorry to hear of your nasty fall Litterpicker, what a shock. I hope you will take it easy and recover well. 💐

I went to Lidl yesterday which I never usually do on a Saturday, but I had not been out of the house for a couple of days so gave myself a talking to. It actually wasn’t as busy as I’d imagined and I’m now stocked up with loo rolls and laundry detergent (amongst other things) which should last for a while.

Mass this morning, chat with pal in Leicester, then nothing much planned. Possibly kitchen cupboards as they need a good clear out. What an exciting life I lead!😂

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a brightening South Yorkshire. I seem to have been awake forever. Glad you enjoyed Weymouth, Mick. We had a lovely day in York yesterday. GS and his parents were having a second look at the university, and then we had lunch and spent the afternoon in the Minster which we all enjoyed enormously. I’d forgotten how magnificent it is. It takes your breath away. It was a long tiring day though so I won’t be doing a lot today except changing my bed linen, and cooking myself a roast chicken dinner later.

Good morning from sunny Cornwall. Had a smashing day yesterday train-hopping from morning till evening. The newest GWR trains are magnificent machines with lots of leg room. Crossing to Newquay from Par I saw parts of Cornwall unknown to me. I had to be creative mid-afternoon when my knee was hurting and craving its ice pack because I'd sat so long but the ladies with the catering trolley were very helpful and a freezing cold can of Coke sorted it!

My son and family are in France. This is a VERY RARE picture of my flying grandson standing still: unheard of! I love the restraint he's put on himself not to touch the cheeses by putting his hands behind his back, so unlike him. 😁 Today I will potter on my patio and aim for church at 4o'clock.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and cloudy. It's been raining at some point. Grammaretto I haven't been to the Festival for a number of years. I used to go with colleagues and we would do three shows in a day. None of them are able now, sadly. RosesandLilac how horrible for you. I hope it doesn't continue today. RosiesMaw enjoy the Proms. I'm quite jealous.
Yesterday I did potter about. I went to Aldi and couldn't resist a packet of macarons alongside the other, more prosaic stuff. I got all the housework done and ironed too. In the afternoon I made raspberry jam. I bought the raspberries from Aldi and they were a good price. I'm pleased with the jam. It looks lovely. Two jars will go to dd as it's the only jam she likes. I will have to put the call out for jars now because I don't have many left. September will be chilli and red pepper jam and some chutney.
Today will be a quiet morning then a visit to mum in the afternoon. I'm making toad in the hole with caramelised onions for dinner and it'll do me two nights. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry, sunny and mild.
The gardens are all looking very dry, the grass is brown and crunchy to walk on, but will green up with more rain.
Changed the bedclothes yesterday, washed them and dried outside. Ironing this morning I think.
DD2 called in yesterday morning with her family. They brought me some Victoria plums they’d picked, which was kind. I didn’t see DD1 and family as she was busy preparing for the younger daughter’s birthday party today.
Today will be quiet, May go for a short walk after breakfast, but don’t feel especially bright after another uncomfortable night. The “midnight feast” of a warm drink and biscuit at 2.am is getting to be a habit!

Good morning from a cloudy South Downs.

I am beginning to plan next years garden and re-arranging in my mind some plants that haven’t quite worked. I must make a note or will forget my ideas. A Joe pie weed has arrived to that end and will be potted up to wait for its eventual place in next years garden.

I have never seen so many bees in the garden as we’ve had this year, so Joe Pie will certainly keep them very happy. There must be a wild honey bee nest locally as I’m getting loads - they particularly like the salvias.

The first bit of colour is showing on the asters. We are truly heading into autumn.

Nothing to equal your firebird rosesmaw but I’m very content with my little brown birds and watching their little lives lived in the garden.

We, too enjoy eating outside llfl and the barbecue has been busy of late. So relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of the day.

It’s a sunny start so I’m going to weed my path and the edges of the garden this morning. After my weeding I’ll sit outside and do some unpicking of something to recycle into something else.
On popping outside the back door yesterday I saw a dead pigeon on the patio being pecked at by what looked like a small hawk. Feathers everywhere and blood. He flew off as I approached and I buried the pigeon at the end of the garden.

Good morning from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I had a busy day on Friday in Edinburgh looking after the DGC. Middle child was starting at a new nursery so her Mum took her, supposedly for a settling in hour, however she joined in as though she’d been there for ever so the hour turned into three. Schools finish at lunch on Fridays so the afternoon was spent amusing all three whilst their parents were working.

I came home by bus having made my way through the heaving throngs on Princes Street to the bus stop. I chatted to a woman who had travelled all the way from Australia just to spend one week at the Fringe before flying back home.

Eldest DGD and DD popped over yesterday as I need to take up the hem on a school skirt. They had a bit of a ‘discussion’ about how much it was to be raised but a compromise was reached. It’s a pleated tartan so a bit tricky. I’ve pinned and tacked it but I think it will need to be done by hand as I can’t cut it and it’s too thick to fold twice.
If this one is successful I’ll have another to do.

Good morning from another lovely sunny Suffolk day.
We have a bumper crop of apples in the small orchard DH planted nearly 40 years ago and they have ripened already.

We have lots of windfalls and yesterday our neighbour collected most of them and juiced them,giving us a large bottle. It is delicious if a rather offputting sludgy brown colour.i can’t imagine what preservatives are used commercially.

Usually the windfalls provide a feast for wasps but we have seen none so far this year and,worryingly,no bees and very few butterflies. T he muntjac population is as numerous as ever.

DS and family are coming for lunch so the DGC will pick whatever apples they want and see if any of the damsons are soft enough to pick. They are a good size and colour and weighing down the branches.

When the children were at home I always made damson jam but it is such a faff scooping out the stones that I haven’t bothered for years. Perhaps again this year?

Litterpicker I hope you are not reading this yet given the medical advice but are feeling better and can get back to doing the things you normally enjoy.

I am so tired, a dear friend celebrated their 60th Birthday last night, I got home at 1am, couldn’t switch my brain off until gone 3am. I think it will be a quiet day 🤣

Good morning all from a grey and chilly Angus coast. Autumn has definitely taken hold so I feel even more blessed for the glorious weather last weekend when the family were here!
Apart from the weather there's nothing else to report from here, except that we have been invited as a group to demonstrate tai chi to the senior pupils at the school in the next town, and teach them the first part of the set as part of their study of China. I'm not sure how enthusiastic I feel about that!
RosesandLilac so sorry to hear your neighbours are being so noisy on your lovely Gloucestershire hillside - but thank goodness it's not a regular happening!

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 13°C.

Another night of terrors, they do leave me quite unsettled.

I plan to do little today, I am very tired, fatigue caused by my R,A, So that I could rest today, yesterday I cooked today's chicken, in the Ninja. I stuffed it with herbs, onions and garlic from the garden, all thrown together, because I had no energy and I was lazy. It was delicious and will become the basis for Chicken Maryland, a favourite of DH. We haven't had it for yonks.

I am still in shock at what happened to Litterpicker. 😪 The outcome could have been much worse.
