Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast. We are home after more than a month away. We arrived back about 4 yesterday afternoon. Now the fun starts, 3 bags of washing 😭😭.
I have loads of admin to do and a shopping list ready for a big shop tomorrow.
We had a great time but it was lovely to sleep in our own bed last night.
Wishing you all a lovely day, hopefully with some sun xx

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and sunny. I don't think it's to last though. Mizuna what a day for you!
Yesterday dgs2 was back being difficult. It's just being a toddler but oh dear, I was the referee between the brothers often. When he's on his own, he's usually fine.
Last night I had the best sleep I've had for years! I was still up twice -first time I saw the lovely big moon- but slept til half seven this morning. I'm visiting my friend's partner this morning. I haven't seen him for ages and he isn't good at keeping in touch. Apart from that, I'll potter. Have a good day all.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk where we saw the very bright moon last night.

Today I am cleaning the silver. Sounds grander than it is really but when I opened the wooden box where the cutlery lives on Sunday for dessert forks it was very tarnished.

The box was bought over 42 years ago at an antique fair when we were on holiday in Littlehampton and it has a little brass plaque on the lid. It was presented to a Miss…..by the staff in April 1925. I imagine it was a present on her retirement.

We rarely use it hence the tarnishing. I bought a tin of Silvio, the tin exactly as I remember it was in my childhood and was surprised really to find it. The hardware store in our nearest town had about half a dozen of newer looking items but I thought if Silvio has continued ,it must be ok.

It reminded me of Duraglit and my mum’s weekly cleaning of the brasses every week…I think it was on Thursdays.

So,after breakfast and our dog walk,I shall spread newspaper on the kitchen table and start polishing.

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 15°C.

We were supposed to go out today, but the weather forecast is awful and I don't feel up to it anyway.

A quiet day is planned.

Have a good day, folks.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers. A good day yesterday at the music club, then I took back a few items to change which I had ordered online. The silver ballet pump style shoes were too small in seven and would have looked like boats in an eight. I don’t know how my feet went from a six to an eight…

Tonight to a local folk club and an early night for coach dat trip tomorrow. The last one was very long and tired me out.
Sorry your health is not consistent Mick, nice of you to be honest Mizuna pleased for your photo Bonnybanko and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from a dry, bright and windy NE. Heating is on again so it must be chilly.
GD2 stayed with her friend yesterday and today they are on an early flight to Menorca. I am sure they will have fun.

My sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon and taking me shopping. I need my repeat prescription which I did online but the practice has not allowed it yet.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a cold Co Armagh, rain is forecast
Successful meeting yesterday , but I think I was a bit too pushy ! Hope it doesn’t derail another’s project
Marydoll, if your area is anything like here today , I would hunker down with the TV

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright but showery Carlisle.
A slight lie in for me this morning after 2 days of early rising--a very early departure for the Logan Gardens on Monday and yesterday it was into town for a fasting blood test.
Interesting though the Logan Gardens were, was it worth the rather tedious 3 hours drive there and 3 back? Probably not especially in view of the dire weather. Fortunately I'd gone with full wet weather gear.
Today features a bit of bathroom cleaning and I will at least look at my expanding special jobs list. Later, gardening if the weather permits and finishing my current book.

Have the best possible day everyone.

A late good morning from Malta where it’s a beautiful day. We have thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow and Friday so I’m getting a load of laundry hung out to dry while I can.

Spent a pleasant couple of hours with DD3 yesterday watching her cook for the boys. She prepares such lovely food for them, all healthy stuff, no sugar or nasties allowed!

We went to pick them up, Twin 1 was napping but was cheerful when woken, Littlest had been an absolute star again with his potty training, no accidents yet! He actually won’t sit on a potty, prefers his little seat on the loo so that has to go with him to nursery now.

Mizuna, you certainly had an interesting day! I wouldn’t have dared look in the bag, you’re braver than I am.😄

Ash I’m an Agatha Christie fan too. Would love to see that production.

madeleine I know that ‘home from a holiday’ feeling! It makes me question why I’ve bothered to go! Sorry you hurt your knee and hope the pain and bruising will subside. Do you have any arnica? It seems to help with bruising.

Bonnybanko that’s a lovely card you received from their Majesties.

Today would have been my mum’s birthday. She loved birthdays and always threw a party for herself! I don’t know how I’m so anti-social when I had such a gregarious mother.😂

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

A late good morning from an Angus coast where the black clouds are gathering all around ready to soak us for a good 12 hours from midday. The wind is getting up too so it's not going to be a pleasant afternoon
Mizuna! Only you! What interesting excursions you have - probably because you're so interested in everything.
Mick sorry you're not reacting well to the warm weather. I can't take the heat either - but that doesn't bother me up here!!
A pleasant morning at tai chi yesterday - as always. I almost forgot to remind the class we have tai chi on the beach on Saturday morning so now I must remember to announce it on our WhatsApp page. With the schools back now, meaning grandparents being released from childminding duties, I expect a good many of our regular beach attendees will be off in search of sunnier climes. Goodness knows what weather we'll get here - forecasting seems to be very inaccurate these days.
So off I go for my usual potter. Enjoy your day everyone and I hope the psychedelic bruises become less painful x

Good morning. Having my coffee and have read all the posts, so interesting as always. The benefit of reading at this time is that usually everyone has written.
It is cold and very wet here, woodburner has been on for the first time since May. Yesterday we went for lunch choosing a route to take in the best views of the heather. Glorious!
Mizuna what a lovely journey.
Best wishes to all especially those under the weather.

Good morning from a sunny and breezy East Midlands. It was quite cold this morning at 7am. I’ve started to get out there early in a morning to do my walk and try and keep the black dog at bay.

Jaxjacky Wed 21-Aug-24 11:39:14

A very late Good Morning from a breezy S Hants, but dry. I’ve managed to tweak an old ligament injury in my back, so I’m hobbling about, very annoying, it will pass.
I hope litterpicker is still recovering well.
Have a pleasant day all.

A late good morning from me too.
It’s bright and breezy here at the moment, so I’ve risked a line of washing. I think it will dry.
I hope those of you with sore backs or other areas, soon feel better.

Good luck with the silver polishing! For cutlery I used to use Silver Dip, rather than doing individual items. Then I saw an Alex Polizzi programme. She lined a roasting tin with foil, filled it with warm water and salt, and threw the cutlery in. Leave it for a while and an hour or so later, hey presto, tarnish free! And no aftertaste of silver polish.
