Angela Rayner and dancing

Does anyone else agree that Angela Rayner appears to have a huge chip on her shoulder regarding class and that she would be a difficult woman to work with?

Her recent statement stating that she is working class and loves to dance is a prime example. Does she really think that people who come from middle class families don!t enjoy to dance?

Cossy Thu 05-Sept-24 11:39:11

No! I don’t think she has a chip on her shoulder, imo, she’s proud of her roots, proud of her achievements and sick and tired of being constantly critiqued many by (so called) middle class women!

Rekarie Thu 05-Sept-24 11:42:06

No chip.

And of course, people of all classes like a dance. Even your aristocrats and royalty as we've seen.

The press keep banging on and on about her roots so she's just giving them what they want.

I like her.

MissAdventure Thu 05-Sept-24 11:52:41

No, I don't agree.

By the way, there is already a thread putting her down for, well, existing, it seems.

It supposedly was about dancing, but probably covers the whole of her life, both personal and professional.

NotSpaghetti Thu 05-Sept-24 11:57:48

Well, Gove supports her "right to dance" grin

Babs03 Thu 05-Sept-24 11:58:02

She is just proud of her working class background, and likes to dance. How do these two facts make her difficult to work with?
Have to say this is really reaching.

NotSpaghetti Thu 05-Sept-24 11:59:07

What isthe point of this thread please?
Is it about dancing?
Or Rayner?

Tuaim Thu 05-Sept-24 11:59:39

Why is Angela Rayner such a source of fascination? Is she not allowed to state she is working class and likes to dance? What is wrong with being working class and to like to dance? She is stating facts and I think people read far too much into what are really quite insignificant facts about her. I am sure when she said that she was not weighing up the pros and cons of dancing within our English class system. If you query that she is a difficult woman to work with, please provide evidence based examples and back up your queries.

MissAdventure Thu 05-Sept-24 12:00:08

I think it's about a trouser suit. grin

lemsip Thu 05-Sept-24 12:05:44

oh for goodness sake leave the woman alone!

notoveryet Thu 05-Sept-24 12:08:27

I am working class, and at her age liked to dance. I attained a professional career but never achieved what she has

Siope Thu 05-Sept-24 12:10:18

Oh, the possible permutations.

Let’s see, would being middle class and dancing make one a difficult colleague news.sky.com/story/amp/michael-gove-hits-the-dancefloor-in-aberdeen-telling-nightclub-boss-i-love-to-dance-12394956

Being bloody loaded (in many senses) and dancing? m.youtube.com/watch?v=TOdz2CUzVr0

Or being aristocratic and dancing? www.tiktok.com/@eu__larissa0/video/7376808520387153157

What sort of colleague are you if you’re working class and don’t dance?

Does it make a difference whether you’re a good dancer or Theresa May-level?

Enquiring minds need to know [no, they really really don’t]

This.

I had not realised that there was another thread about Angela Rayner. I have not met her so neither like or dislike the woman. Good for anyone to be proud of their roots, colour or gender! It is just annoying when they feel it has to be shouted from the rooftops at every possibly opportunity, So boring!!

MissAdventure Thu 05-Sept-24 12:33:30

I expect its probably what every interview is most interested in, and ask her about, from what I've seen.

Ziplok Thu 05-Sept-24 12:39:10

What’s the problem with Angela Rayner, as some here seem to have one regarding her? Whatever your political views, this constant pulling her down by some is, frankly, wearing and unkind, whether you like her or not.

I can’t say, in all honesty, that I’ve heard her going on and on about her working class background, but perhaps I’m not listening to or reading the things where she allegedly does.

I agree 100% lemsip.

Sago Thu 05-Sept-24 12:44:47

Working class, middle class, upper class😱.
Why on earth do we have to be defined by class?
I have a friend who always refers to her working class background, I do not care what anyone’s beginnings were, it’s the here and now that matters.

The most important thing we can provide in this country is a good education system, this will create social mobility.

I hope to goodness that this is the end of the carping, whining and wingeing about Angela Rayner and that the posters who obviously think its a great giggle to report things about her will find something more useful to do.
They remind me of young teenage pupils, ganging up on an outsider. Let's hope this is the end of their nastiness.

I do agree with you but the silly woman should never have said “Tory scum”.

She isn't shouting it, social and main stream media is. Now you have joined in.

HelterSkelter1 Thu 05-Sept-24 13:27:13

Heavens. Here we go again.

nanaK54 Thu 05-Sept-24 13:51:45

Sheesh - enough already

Bridie22 Thu 05-Sept-24 14:13:40

Stop please, leave the woman alone!!! Just let her get on with her very important job of deputy prime minister without all the constant dragging her down, its awful.

AGAA4 Thu 05-Sept-24 14:21:18

Angela Rayner is getting on with her job. Why all the bitchiness? Same old boring comments.

Grannybags Thu 05-Sept-24 14:24:37

Blimey not this again. Why can't people just leave her alone?
