My heart went out to Camilla

We’ve all suffered, haven’t we, the impromptu photo catching us at our worst ? I happily delete them meaning that there are fewer pics of me than of anybody else in the family!
However, heads should roll over this - the Queen’s rather orange makeup doesn’t seem to reach the sides of her face, or down her neck, her eyebrows are seriously overdone and the wrinkles which generally accompany our late 70’s alas all to clear in this close up.
The late Queen had wonderful skin throughout her life, but didn’t smoke and drank very little alcohol. Perhaps she also had a better make up

Sadly it was Diana who invited the press into her life and the lives of others.

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 18:00:39

She did court the press.
I've read that she carefully staged "impromptu" photos, so they would have the most impact.

BlueBelle Sat 07-Sept-24 18:01:53

She did indeed Anniebach I do feel she needed the attention
I remember the very first picture of her in a fairly see through dress !

And besides, look at the comments in the OP bemoaning why it was a mean photo to publish noticing all the things she thought were "faults" instead of taking the picture as a whole of a healthy, strong woman with a bit of wind in her hair.
Or just look at the need here to call attention to a photo that many people including me hadn’t seen, offering opportunity for further comments about someone we don’t know.

I think Camilla looks great since she has been with Charles, and vice versa.
I couldn't bear her at first, but it's easy to see they are a true love match.

Everyone has "one of those days" and Royalty is no exception.

Oreo Sat 07-Sept-24 18:18:07

RosiesMaw is being sympathetic to Camilla, not knocking her and I agree that if she does have a make up girl/ lady she could do a much better job in the future.Maybe she does her own make up and didn’t do a great job of it? She does look as if she’s used maybe too much fake tan.The hair, well, impossible to get that right on a windy day, a hat would have helped.
We don’t really know how she feels about this pic being splashed on a newspaper, so just guesswork.
I don’t get all this sisterhood thing, is there a brotherhood?

Exactly. What is the point of this thread?

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-24 18:44:26

Why have you joined in conversation on this thread ?

Vintagejazz Sat 07-Sept-24 18:46:54

Is that to me?

Vintagejazz Sat 07-Sept-24 18:51:46

If it is, I think it is unkind to post on unflattering photograph of Camilla, drawing it to the attention of people who haven't already seen it, and inviting comment.

Hope that explanation is OK.

00opsidia Sat 07-Sept-24 19:01:20

The photograph will already be all over the internet, but I think Camilla has more important things on her mind, with Charles going through cancer treatment and Kate too. I think Camilla is working hard to keep it all together. Like her or not, I think her position is difficult, right in the public eye.

Admittedly she's not my fvourite Royal and I don't think she is looking her best, but we all have off days and in the general scheme of things I don't think it matters as long as she's doing her job. I wonder how many of her critics at the same age of 77 can do the work Camilla is?

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-24 19:03:06

Than’ you, so you knew the thread was about a photograph published in a daily newspaper

Vintagejazz Sat 07-Sept-24 19:06:42

Yes and wondering about the mlneed to post it on here and invite further comment.

I think she looks rather good with this swept up hair. The thing that depresses me are the hate filled comments on the internet comparing Camilla who is nearly as old as me with Diana who is permanently frozen at 36. I suspect Charles is quite happy not living with a fashion plate.

Dickens Sat 07-Sept-24 19:29:48

Quokka

Well she got what she wanted - Queen Camilla. So I’m sure she can take the flack that goes with being in the public eye.

... and Charles?

Or is it just Camilla that gets the flack?

He was also involved in their triangular relationship - and, presumably, he wanted to make her Queen Camilla?

00opsidia Sat 07-Sept-24 19:35:12

It must be horrible having people pick apart your apearance, but I expect Camilla has too much of a full life to care.

I'd like to see some of the critics doing a full day's work at 77 with the love of their life having cancer....and having to be photographed. I don't think her styling is her priority right now.

I think bro's stick together if necessary. But men tend not to focus on the way other men look.

I think the 'sisterhood' has evolved because men can be very critical of women's bodies. So it's sort of depressing when women join in.

I'm intrigued to know how some of you know that she has a great sense of humour, will laugh at this and is not vain.

Ever since Camilla ^came out^😉 it’s been well known what very good sense of humour she has.

petra Sat 07-Sept-24 19:48:02

I love this one. I’d love to know what the joke was.

00opsidia Sat 07-Sept-24 19:48:28

Yes, I'm sure she will just laugh it off and carry on. grin

Everyone has "off" days. Not everyone has photographers laying in wait.
